Bayern Munich has been a goalscoring machine, breaking several records over the past two seasons. Striker Harry Kane has been a focal point for the Bayern juggernaut as a reliable goal hunter in both regular and critical games. But when the question arose of whether the team has grown too reliant on him, Kane simply pointed out that it is what he gets paid to do.

> “I’m a number nine, I’m there to deliver goals and assists,” Kane told Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ).

A number nine like no other

Harry Kane is truly a complete footballer. While finishing and positioning are the primary tricks of any striker’s trade, Kane takes it up several notches with his vision, passing accuracy and range, defensive contributions, and positional fluidity to become a force of nature on the pitch.

On the attacking front, Kane scored 60 goals across the league, DFB-Pokal, and the UCL for Bayern. That accounts for 30 percent of all goals scored by his team across those competitions. The rest of Bayern’s front trio—Luis Diaz and Michael Olise—have pitched in with a mighty 47 goals.

A star studded team

Harry Kane is undoubtedly a vital piece of Vincent Kompany’s attack. However, in the previous season, Bayern had 19 unique goalscorers in the Bundesliga alone. While the attack often runs through him, he isn’t the only channel. The team has fluid movement, with midfielders and full-backs actively involved in setting up and scoring goals.

The duo of Michael Olise and Luis Diaz had fantastic seasons, with Olise continuing right where he left off. J amal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, and Lennart Karl are all genuine scorers who have not only eased Kane’s burde n but spread out the goal threat across the pitch.

Kane, though, has bridged the gap left by the legendary Thomas Müller in providin g clinical through-balls against low blocks or high-pressing teams. The ability to see potential attacking space and pick out incredible pa sses adds another dimension of threat to Kane’s game. So, if it seems that Bayern gets a lot of goal output from Harry Kane, they are simply getting exactly what they are paying him for.
