Bayern Munich was without Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Champions League due to suspension and injury, respectively. With a match against Freiburg this weekend, Olise will definitely be back, but Musiala will remain sidelined for at least a few more days.
Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala watched the game against Arsenal together in the VIP box. While Olise will normally be in the squad against Freiburg im Sunday, Bayern are giving Musiala the time he needs to recover fully. The player and the medical staff don’t want to take any unnecessary risks, after he has already suffered numerous setbacks in 2026. Musiala will be back in the squad at the earliest for the second round of the DFB Pokal against Magdeburg on October 28. Whether he will actually be back on the pitch then depends on his recovery progress in the coming week and the final assessment of the medical department.
Musiala has had it tough since having his leg hacked by Gianluigi Donnarumma last year. Because the club wants him at full fitness before stepping onto the pitch, they are not taking chances if the 23-year-old is to return to his best.
