Bayern Munich produced a largely shocking display against Viking FK.

The first half was particularly bad, especially considering Bayern conceded after just two minutes of play. Conceding an early goal can happen, but right after conceding the fastest Bundesliga goal to Augsburg on the weekend, it is a clear indication of Bayern’s lack of concentration coming into games. Vincent Kompany’s side held the vast majority of the ball for the remainder of the opening 45 minutes, but failed to produce any meaningful chances.

The second half started far better. Kompany made the necessary substitutions and they impacted the game. Bayern clawed back, replying with three goals: a brace from Harry Kane and one goal from Luis Díaz. But a moment of stupidity from Michael Olise — throwing the ball in a Viking player’s face — resulted in his dismissal, ultimately costing Bayern the game.

The only positive from Bayern’s frustrating draw was Kane’s performance. The Englishman played bagsman and creator perfectly. Despite a number of impressive individual performances from the Norweigan side, Kane was the best player on the pitch and rightfully picked up the Man of the Match award.

Bayern is far from firing on all cylinders, but at least Kane is delivering on his end of the bargain.
