Bayern Munich will travel to Norway knowing that Viking are not an opponent to be taken lightly. The Norwegian side have enjoyed an impressive domestic campaign, and Tah expects them to approach the matchup wit h the same attacking mentality they have shown against other opponents.
> “We know they’ll come with confidence. They’ve won the le ague, they’re top of the table with Bodø/Glimt. They’re extremely good at set pieces, they have good attacker s. They won’t hide, even against Bayern. We also saw that they never sat back against Stuttgart, that ‘s not their style of football. And that’s not how we expect them to play tomorrow either,” Tah said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ).
The Bayern defender also stressed that the team will not allow discussions about favorites to distract them from their own responsibilities.
> “It’s always important that we never underestimate an opponent. There’s always a lot of talk about favorites, but we don’t talk like that. We focus on our potential and our game. We always want to do that. It doesn’t matter who the opponent is. We always want to give 100% and will do tomorrow.”
Tah was also asked about playing on artificial turf, whic h will be another consideration for Bayern in Norway. However, the cen ter-back is not particularly concerned about the surface, having experienced it plenty of times throughout his career.
> “We shouldn’t overthink it. I often played on artificial turf during my youth at HSV, and last played there three or four years ago. And much earlier, I played on gra ss. I can say that anything is better than playing on grass. Everyone of us played on artificial turf. We’re not really focused on that,” said Tah.
Bayern is the favorite on paper, but Tah’s message is clear — respect Viking, stay focused, and deliver the performance required to get the job done. The Champions League offers no room for complacency, and Bayern will need to match Viking’s intensity from the opening whistle.
