Earlier this week, Bayern Munich was dealt a significant blow with Luis Díaz expected to be sidelined for at least a month after an MRI scan revealed that his injury is more serious than initially anticipated, according to Bild (via @iMiaSanMia ).
The Colombian winger is expected to miss the following games:
- SC Freiburg - Magdeburg - Borussia Dortmund - Atlético Madrid - Mainz - Colombia’s November international fixtures
Díaz is also considered a m ajor doubt for Bayern Munich’s matches against Köln, Lille, and Hamburger SV after the international break. According to Bild , t he expected recovery period is between four and six weeks, depending on his progress.
This is a frustrating setback for Bay ern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany, particularly with the Bavarians entering a demanding stretch of the season. Díaz has become an important part of the attacking setup, bringing relentless pressing, direct running, and the ability to create prob lems for defenders in one-on-one situations.
His absence against Dortmund and Atlético Madrid is especially concerning, with Bayern Munich facing two major tests in the Bundesliga and Champions League. The Bavarians will need other attackers to step up, maintain their scoring output, and shoulder more of the creative burden while Díaz recovers.
Harry Kane and Michael Olise will be central to that effort, while Serge Gna bry, Ismael Saibari, Lennart Karl, and the rest of Bayern Munich’s healthy attacking options could have an opportunity to take on gr eater responsibility.
Bayern Munich have the depth to cope, but losing Díaz for potentially six weeks is hardly ideal at this stage of the campaign. Now, the priority is ensuring that he recovers full y rather than rushing him back before he is ready.
