Bayern Munich have held further discussions with the representatives of JJ Gabriel as the club explores the possibility of bringing one of Europe’s most highly regarded young talents to the Säbener Straße. However, despite the renewed contact, the German champions have yet to submit an official offer for the youngster.
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg (via @iMiaSanMia ), the current feeling is that Gabriel would prefer a move to Spain, putting Real Madrid and Barcelona at the front of the queue for his signature. Both Spanish giants have established reputations for attracting elite young prospects, and their interest could complicate Bayern’s pursuit of the promising attacker.
Financially, this would also be a significant investment for any interested club. Gabriel’s potential transfer is expected to involve an overall package worth well over €10-15 million, a substantial commitment for a player at such an early stage of his career.
For Bayern Munich, the appeal is clear. The club has continued to invest in its youth development structure and wants to ensure that the most talented prospects see Munich as an attractive destination for their development. Securing a player of Gabriel’s potential would represent another statement of intent regarding the club’s long-term ambitions.
Nevertheless, Bayern must contend with the possibility that the youngster’s preference lies elsewhere. With Real Madrid and Barcelona reportedly leading the race, the Bavarians may need to do more than simply demonstrate their interest to convince Gabriel that his future belongs in Germany.
