“He’s a player with a great mentality. He always wants to improve, it’s incredible, and I’m very happy for him,” he said.

“It’s fantastic to watch him. He’s gained confidence. He’s always very committed. He’s played many clean sheets. He has room for improvement, but he’s showing top-level form. He’s an underrated player.”

Martin has received plenty of flak in his career but has gone on to thrive at Barcelona under Hansi Flick and has become a key player for the German coach.

The 24-year-old’s performances are also expected to earn him a contract extension shortly, as Barca look to secure his long-term future.
