Forget Trafford: Leeds Chiefs Now Pushing For Big Daniel Farke Agreement

· GiveMeSport

Daniel Farke's Leeds United team currently sit fifth in the Premier League table after an unbeaten start to the 2026/27 league campaign

Leeds United are one of five unbeaten teams in the Premier League after making an excellent start to the 2026/27 campaign.

A big year for Daniel Farke's side as they look to build on a 14th-placed finish and FA Cup semi-final in 2025/26, the West Yorkshire club currently sit fifth in the league standings heading into September's international break.

Their start has left many dreaming of a top-half finish, with some even whispering that Europe could be a possibility if they continue to progress at their current rate.

Heading into the new season, Leeds made some smart moves in the transfer market with James Trafford, Nico Elvedi, Tarik Muharemovic and Harry Wilson all making the move to Elland Road.

Another new agreement could potentially be around the corner, with TEAMtalk reporting that the club are pushing on with talks with Farke over a new contract and they remain confident of reaching a full agreement with the German.

Farke is currently in the final year of his contract, which expires in the summer of 2027.

The 49-year-old has done an incredible job since arriving at the club in 2023, guiding his team back to the Premier League in 2025 after winning the Championship title on the final day with an incredible 100 points.

Amid question marks over whether he would be able to help Leeds retain their Premier League status and kick on even further during the 2025/26 season, the ex-Norwich City boss comfortably kept his side in the top flight and also led them to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

TEAMtalk report that Leeds are now looking to take contract talks with Farke to the next level during the current international break.

Officials expect formal talks to gather pace, with the report claiming that both parties are "aligned on the desire for continuity" and with "a broad agreement already understood to have been ironed out".

All will be hoping that fresh terms are signed and sealed sooner rather than later so that Leeds can continue to build on such an impressive start to the term.

Daniel Farke's Leeds United record

- Games 155 - Wins 77 - Draws 45 - Losses 33 - Win percentage 49.7%

Leeds have made giant strides under the guidance of Farke and he richly deserves a new contract at Elland Road and the opportunity to take the team even further.

The German has well and truly proved the doubters wrong as many didn't expect him to last the season in West Yorkshire following their return to the Premier League.

Not only did he keep them up with an eight-point cushion between themselves in 14th and West Ham in the final relegation spot, he had them one game away from an FA Cup final appearance.

Leeds look even stronger this season following some shrewd business in the transfer market and you would fancy them to push for a top-half finish going on how well they have started the campaign.

They could even be an outsider for a European spot due to the quality they have in their team.

Farke has done a remarkable job in West Yorkshire and it's going to be fascinating to see how far he can take the club forward as they now have the squad to really kick on over the next few years.

Previously a position where there has been so much chopping and changing over the past two decades, Farke has given Leeds stability and it's time he gets the flowers he deserves for performing such a good job since first arriving at the club three years ago.
