Real Madrid have received a clear message from Barcelona ahead of Sunday’s El Clasico , with Gavi insisting that the absence of Vinicius Jr. will not reduce his determination to beat Los Blancos .

The Barcelona midfielder also expressed his admiration for Jose Mourinho, while teammate Rodri warned that Madrid remain dangerous regardless of their inconsistent La Liga form.

The comments, made in interviews with ESPN (h/t AS ) ahead of the meeting at Camp Nou, come at a crucial point in the title race.

Barcelona could move nine points clear of their rivals with victory, placing additional pressure on Mourinho’s Real Madrid project.

Gavi dismisses Real Madrid absences ahead of Clasico

Gavi has developed a reputation for his intensity in matches against Real Madrid, and Vinicius’ absence means one of the rivalry’s most familiar individual duels will not take place this time.

Asked about Madrid missing the Brazilian, the Barcelona midfielder made clear that the opposition’s personnel would not change his approach.

> “A weakened side without Vinicius? I don’t care. It’s Real Madrid and, at the end of the day, I’ll give it my all whoever’s playing.”

Gavi also explained how much a victory would mean to Barcelona supporters, adding,

> “There’ll be players I get on better or worse with, but on the pitch I don’t like any of them. I just hope to give the fans a win; they deserve it.”

Gavi’s respect for Mourinho

Despite his combative attitude towards Real Madrid’s players, Gavi spoke positively about Mourinho’s personality.

The Barcelona midfielder said he enjoys facing a coach who is outspoken and brings a strong character to the touchline.

> “I like Mourinho when he speaks. I like that sort of manager – someone with character and a fiery temperament.

> “I like having him as an opponent. I have a lot of respect for him. The truth is, he doesn’t get on my nerves.”

Gavi also described his frustration when injuries prevent him from playing, revealing the depth of his feelings about the rivalry.

> “When I’m injured, I suffer a lot watching the matches. I can’t bear to watch them.

> “I want Barça to win and Real Madrid to lose. In my family, we’ve never been fond of Real Madrid,” he concluded.
