Barcelona star Lamine Yamal finds himself at the centre of discussions about the best player in the world on a daily basis.

The fact that he finds himself in such conversations at 19 is already incredible, and he is one of the favourites to lift the Ballon d’Or on Monday .

The teenage sensation has now found himself at the centre of another debate about Europe’s best attacking talents.

Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness has claimed that Michael Olise is already a superior player to the Spaniard.

Hoeness puts Olise ahead of Lamine Yamal

As quoted by SPORT , Hoeness made the comparison during an interview with the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag , in which he expressed his admiration for the Bayern winger.

> “Michael Olise is on his way to becoming the best player in the world. For me, he is better than Lamine Yamal,” Hoeness declared.

The former Bayern president also explained why he considers the France international such an exceptional talent.

> “He scores goals, provides assists, is fast… He is practically the perfect player,” he added.

Olise has grown leaps and bounds since moving to Bayern from Crystal Palace and has become an important attacking figure for the Bavarians.

However, Hoeness’ decision to directly drag Lamine’s name into the comparison is interesting, considering the Frenchman is also in the race for the Ballon d’Or.

Every club is likely to believe that their players are the best in the world, but on this occasion, the battle between Lamine and Olise is really close.

Barcelona have every reason to back Yamal

There is little doubt that Olise belongs among Europe’s most exciting attacking players, but declaring him better than Yamal remains a matter of opinion.

The Barcelona winger offers far more than individual brilliance. His ability to attract multiple defenders, create openings and dictate attacking situations has made him central to Hansi Flick’s system.

He has also become one of the first names on the team sheet for Spain, and what makes it remarkable is the responsibility he carries at such a young age.

Both Barça and Spain constantly look to him to bail them out of difficult situations, and Lamine answers the call with frightening consistency.

Olise has developed into one of the best right-wingers in the world, but as things stand, there is a case to be made for Lamine being slightly ahead.

The Spaniard is now set to face Real Madrid in El Clasico later tonight, and he will want to deliver a statement performance.

It remains to be seen how Lamine fares against Los Blancos and whether he wins the Ballon d’Or in London tomorrow.
