Federico Gatti could leave Juventus in January if his lack of playing time continues, with the defender reportedly growing frustrated with his peripheral role under Luciano Spalletti. According to Gazzetta dello Sport , the winter departure remains firmly on the cards for the 28-year-old.

Gatti has made four appearances this season, accumulating just 222 minutes across all competitions. His only Serie A outing lasted two minutes, with most of his opportunities coming in the Europa League.

Gatti returned to action against Rennes on Thursday, spending just an hour on the pitch. The Italian produced two important defensive interventions and a crucial interception. However, also received a yellow card and struggled to contain Al-Taamari for the equalizer.

The center-back’s prospects could improve if Juventus switch to a three-man defense. In a back four, Gatti currently serves as cover for Gleison Bremer . A different system would allow the former Frosinone man to compete with Pierre Kalulu for a place on the right of the defensive trio.

Our take on Juventus & Gatti

Gatti needs regular minutes to revive his career and strengthen his chances of returning to the Italian national team. Yet, if the situation fails to improve, the Juventus defender could be on his way out in January.

Crystal Palace and Bournemouth reportedly made attempts to sign him last summer, and Premier League interest could resurface when the transfer window reopens. Several Serie A clubs may also try to take him away from Juventus.

For now, Gatti’s immediate priority remains convincing Spalletti that he deserves a more prominent role. The coming weeks could prove decisive in determining whether he can reclaim his place in Turin or pursue regular football elsewhere.
