Bayern Munich made do without Luis Díaz in the starting XI against Arsenal tonight, but there is some positive news regarding the Colombian winger’s fitness.
Head coach Vincent Kompany explained that Díaz had been struggling toward the end of Bayern Munich’s match against RB Leipzig, raising concerns that he may have picked up an injury. With a congested schedule leaving little time for recovery, the coaching staff has opted to be cautious with one of FC Bayern’s most important attacking weapons.
> “We’re going through a period with little time to recover. Sometimes, that means one game can have an impact on the next. Lucho Díaz was already struggling toward the end of the game against Leipzig. We were worried that something had happened to him. He has trained again, so he could play a role today if he feels good. We’re happy that he’s available at all,” Kompany told DAZN (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
The good news is that Díaz is available off the bench if needed. That could prove crucial against an Arsenal side that will present a significant challenge, particularly if FC Bayern needs fresh attacking options in the second half.
With Michael Olise suspended, Bayern Munich’s attacking depth is already under pressure. Hopefully, Díaz will be fit enough to make an impact off the bench if the match demands it. Given the stakes, having him available at all is certainly better than the alternative.
