Roy Keane finally breaks golden rule as Gary Neville mocks 'fawning' Man Utd legend

Manchester United icon Roy Keane showed a different side to himself during a podcast conversation with Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone

Roy Keane made an exception to his usual stance on autographs when he asked Sylvester Stallone to sign one during a special episode of The Overlap. The former Manchester United captain travelled with Gary Neville, Jill Scott and Ian Wright to meet the iconic Rocky and Rambo star.

The American actor joined them on the podcast to reflect on his celebrated career. Ahead of the episode's release, a short teaser clip gave fans a glimpse of a different side to Keane. Wearing a Rambo shirt featuring Stallone's face, Keane appeared delighted to meet the Hollywood star.

He was seen adjusting his shirt, prompting fans to comment on the rare sight of him looking starstruck. Stallone also noticed his outfit, telling him: "Nice shirt."

Neville could not resist teasing his former team-mate, saying he would turn into a 'fawning schoolboy' in Stallone’s company. Keane replied: "No, Gary, don't be silly, I'm a professional."

Yet, after a brief pause, he added: "He might sign it for me." On X, one fan commented: "Never thought I’d see Roy Keane fawning over anyone. Good to see his softer side,"

While another joked: "For Roy it's love at first blood." A third added: "Heartwarming."

It was an unusual request from Keane, who is known for sometimes turning down fans asking for photographs or autographs when they approach him in public.

One fan described getting the 'full Roy Keane experience' after an awkward encounter with the former midfielder at Cork Airport.

Keane later gave his account of the encounter after footage spread widely on social media, explaining: "What is it? What do you want me to do?

> "The guy was a pest! What is funny about? What am I supposed to do, do a dance for people? They're shouting your name out loud.

> "What are you shouting my name for? Just come over and be polite. He knew what game he was playing."
