The Granata take control straight away: in the 4th minute, Simeone volleys home Belghali’s assist to finish off a superb counterattack, before Che Adams heads in the second following another effort from the Argentine.

After the break, Parma try to raise the tempo and create several chances, but are punished again during their best spell: in the 69th minute, Simeone picks up the ball on the edge of the box and unleashes a thunderous right-footed strike into the top corner , undoubtedly the best goal of this Monday, to make it three. Frigan also finds the net late on, only for VAR to rule it out for offside.

The headlines belong to Giovanni Simeone , who scores his first brace in a Torino shirt and nets more than once in a match for the first time in four and a half years: his last multiple-goal haul was a hat-trick in Verona’s 3-1 win over Venezia. An excellent display from Abate ’s men, who are clinical in front of goal and withstand the hosts’ response.

For Gilardino’s Parma , meanwhile, it is another defeat, with fans voicing their displeasure both during and after the match. Parma remain second from bottom, with another worrying statistic unchanged: they still have Serie A’s worst attack .
