A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has this week been linked with what would be a surprise move away from the club.

This comes amid the understanding that Italian heavyweights Juventus have set their sights on the signature of Blancos star Bernardo Silva.

Versatile midfielder Bernardo of course only took his talents to Spain’s capital this past summer. Following the expiration of his contract terms with Manchester City, the Portuguese was snapped up by Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Bernardo went on to enjoy a prominent start to life at the Bernabéu, afforded starting status for his new club’s opening fixtures of the season.

Recent weeks, however, have seen the 32-year-old’s importance wane. Amid stiff competition for places in the middle of the park in Madrid, Bernardo has been afforded just a solitary start since all the way back in August.

And keen to take advantage of this situation following the turn of the year, as alluded to above, are the board at Juventus. As per a report from market insider Ekrem Konur:

> ‘Juventus plan to move for Bernardo Silva in January. The deal would only be possible as a loan, with Real Madrid covering part of his salary. There is no official contact between the clubs yet. A potential agreement depends on Real Madrid being open to these terms.’
