According to SPORT , Barcelona youngster Orian Goren is in contention for his first senior squad call-up after training with Hansi Flick’s first team ahead of Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid.
The 17-year-old midfielder has an opportunity to benefit from Dani Olmo’s injury-enforced absence and make the squad list for the heavyweight clash at the Spotify Camp Nou.
Hansi Flick considers Orian Goren for Barcelona’s El Clasico squad
Goren trained with Barcelona’s first team on Friday as Flick assessed his options ahead of the meeting with Real Madrid.
The teenager is one of La Masia’s most highly rated prospects and impressed the German coach during pre-season, remaining involved longer than any other Barça Atletic player and featuring in the Joan Gamper Trophy.
Born in 2009, Goren has recently turned 17 and is regarded by coaches within Barcelona’s youth academy as a natural talent. His movement and technical qualities have drawn comparisons with Pedri.
He has also established himself as a key player for the reserve team under Juliano Belletti, playing regularly whenever available.
Dani Olmo’s injury has opened up an opportunity in midfield, and Flick is considering taking Goren into the squad for Sunday’s El Clasico . The plan is for the youngster to train with the senior team again today before a decision is made.
If selected, it would be his first official call-up to Barcelona’s senior squad. While a place on the bench would not guarantee minutes against Real Madrid, it would represent a significant milestone in his development.
Alex Campos waits on Jules Kounde
Goren was not the only academy prospect involved in Friday’s session. Flick also called up midfielder Ebrima Tunkara and defender Alex Campos as Barcelona continued preparations for the Clasico .
Tunkara is another highly regarded young talent at the club, and his involvement offers Flick an additional midfield option as he deals with Olmo’s absence.
Campos, meanwhile, has already been included in a Barcelona matchday squad, having travelled with the first team for their Champions League meeting with PSG.
His chances of featuring against Real Madrid will depend on Kounde’s recovery from injury. If the French defender is unavailable, Campos could retain his place in the squad.
