Celtic Must Replace Martin O'Neill With David Moyes

· GiveMeSport

Celtic are struggling under Martin O'Neill and they must look to replace him with Everton manager David Moyes.

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has been under a lot of pressure in recent weeks after some disappointing performances, and the display against Benfica could mean time is up for the experienced boss.

It's been a difficult period for the Glasgow club, particularly after they suffered back-to-back defeats against their Glasgow rivals Rangers.

A lot of the blame has been placed on the current crop of players, but there's no doubt manager O'Neill needs to be doing better.

With his contract expiring in the summer, there's every chance that Celtic look to make a change, but it wouldn't be a surprise if they made a decision before then.

O'Neill has even admitted himself that he's perhaps considering moving on, and that's never a good sign when he's clearly not 100% committed.

Celtic may wait until the end of the season to make a change, but given their recent results, a change could come sooner than that.

According to reports, Everton manager David Moyes is someone admired by Celtic , and he's set to leave the Toffees in the summer.

Moyes is also out of contract next year. With new owners set to come in at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, they could be looking to bring in their own manager.

Getting Moyes out of Everton right now certainly wouldn't be easy, but he's undoubtedly a manager they should be looking at ahead of next year.

Celtic may look to keep O'Neill in charge for the remainder of the season in order to give them a better pool of managers to work with, but Moyes should be the next one in line.

O'Neill Record at Celtic in 2026

- Matches 41 - Wins 29 - Draws 4 - Losses 8

O'Neill has done an impressive job during interim spells at Celtic, but it's clear to see that it's not working at the moment.

Even bringing in an interim manager until the end of the season could be the answer before waiting on Moyes.

The Everton boss has already shown he's capable in Europe, lifting the Europa Conference League with West Ham. It's difficult to imagine a Moyes side losing 4-1 away at Benfica, despite the differences in quality between the two teams.

Celtic were thrashed 4-1 by Benfica in Lisbon in their Europa League clash.

Being a Scotsman himself, it's a surprise that Moyes hasn't managed in Scotland during his lengthy career.

The Everton manager is reaching the latter stages of his managerial career, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he was close to wrapping it up.

Despite that, managing in Scotland could be a fairy-tale way for him to round off his career.

The experienced manager would bring European pedigree to Celtic, as well as being someone who has been around the block at some big clubs.

Moyes knows what it's like to manage in high-pressure situations, and he could be the ideal replacement for O'Neill.
