It is clear that Julian Alvarez is not happy at Atletico Madrid right now, after an elongated transfer saga that saw the club block his move to Barcelona.

There were always going to be consequences after the failed to move Catalonia and to no one’s surprise, the agent appears to have parted ways with his agent, Fernando Hidalgo.

Alvarez has been on the lookout for a new agent and has even received offers from multiple entities.

Alvarez to hire Rodri’s agent

According to Mundo Deportivo , Alvarez has already decided on a new agent in the form of Pablo Barquero.

Barquero currently is the representative of Barcelona star Rodri and had played a key role in facilitating the midfielder’s move to Catalonia in the summer.

Alvarez’s decision to appoint Barquero comes against the backdrop of interest from several other entities including Javier Pastore, agent of Enzo Fernandez and even Jorge Mendes, who shares a good relationship with Jose Mourinho and Joan Laporta.

But Alvarez has ultimately opted for Barquero as the two already share a good relationship thanks to their time together at Manchester City, where he met Alvarez for the first time.

Are Barcelona still interested?

The report makes it clear that Julian Alvarez’s dream is still to join Barcelona, despite seeing his attempt fail in the summer.

A failed move to Barcelona, in fact, played a key reason why the striker decided to part ways with Fernando Hidalgo.

Now, it all depends on whether or not Barcelona are interested in signing Alvarez in the near future. Recent reports suggest the club are still keen on acquiring the Argentine despite a perfect start to the season.

The club, after all, cannot rely on Raphinha to sustain his brilliant form as a number nine, especially given the injury problems he had in recent years.

Bringing in Alvarez into this setup, therefore, can Barcelona more edge and help them reduce reliance on star players such as Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

But whether or not a Barcelona move is possible for Alvarez after a change of agents remains to be seen, as the player still has a long-term contract at Atletico Madrid.
