FC Barcelona resumed their season after the international break right where they had left off, securing a comfortable 3-0 win over Getafe at the Spotify Camp Nou.

An early goal from Anthony Gordon set the tone for the home team, who were without captain Raphinha, while Hansi Flick also opted to bench key players Pedri and Pau Cubarsi.

Gordon’s fellow summer signing Gabriel Jesus, making his first start for the Blaugrana , doubled their lead before half-time.

Jules Kounde then added a third in the second period, getting on the end of a Lamine Yamal cross to seal yet another straightforward victory for Barcelona.

Gabriel Jesus elated

Speaking to the media after the match, Jesus was elated at how things were going for him at Barcelona.

After all, he now has three goals for the club since joining them from Arsenal in the summer, including one on his first start under Flick today.

“Being at Barça is a dream. I’ve already said it,” said Jesus, as quoted by AS .

Highlighting the quality of the team, the Brazilian striker added: “Playing with these players is very easy. Always having the ball. This makes it much easier for a striker like me to create chances.”

The summer arrival also highlighted manager Flick for filling the players with confidence, while also wishing teammate Raphinha a speedy recovery and a swift return.

“I think he gives all of us players a lot of confidence. We’re playing very well. But I hope Raphinha recovers quickly – we really miss him,” said Jesus.

On the level that the team had been showing so far this season, the Brazilian added: “I’ve played for teams that scored lots of goals. Now I’m at another one that does the same. Let’s keep scoring and winning titles – that’s what matters most.”

More challenges ahead

The 3-0 win over Getafe shows that Barcelona have not been affected by the three-week hiatus brought about by the international break.

The result means that Flick & co. have now recorded eight straight victories in La Liga and nine across all competitions.

However, tougher challenges lie ahead for the La Liga champions as they take on Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League next week before facing Real Betis, PSG, and Real Madrid in quick succession.
