Real Madrid are preparing another major visual addition to the Santiago Bernabeu, with the club’s famous crest set to take pride of place on the stadium’s main facade.

The move addresses a long-standing demand from supporters as the club continues to complete the final details of its renovated home.

According to Mundo Deportivo , work is being planned to install an enormous version of the Real Madrid badge, giving the stadium’s exterior a more recognisable connection to the club it represents.

Real Madrid plan giant crest for the Bernabeu facade

The Bernabeu redevelopment has transformed the stadium over several years, but as per the outlet, some finishing touches remain.

Around seven and a half years after construction work began, attention has turned to an addition that fans have been keen to see: a prominent club crest on the main façade.

The proposed shield is expected to stand approximately five metres tall, making it visible from a distance.

Its size, however, means the installation requires careful planning, as operators have spent recent weeks examining how best to position and mount the structure.

The crest is expected to sit alongside the word ‘Bernabeu’, which already features on the stadium’s exterior.

Once installed, it would give the facade a visual link to Real Madrid and add another feature to the renovated ground.

Santiago Bernabeu naming debate remains part of the story

The planned addition comes amid an ongoing discussion among supporters about the stadium’s name.

Although ‘Bernabeu’ is displayed prominently, some fans have argued that the word ‘Santiago’ should also appear to honour the club’s legendary former president, Santiago Bernabeu.

His legacy remains central to Real Madrid’s identity, making the stadium’s naming and presentation an emotional subject for sections of the fanbase.

The proposed crest does not resolve that debate, but it would deliver a different change supporters have been requesting for some time.
