Paris Saint-Germain have announced that Ousmane Dembélé (29) and Nuno Mendes (24) will be given some extra rest over the coming days.
Scheduled to return to training on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October respectively, the two European champions are therefore already ruled out of this weekend’s Ligue 1 home fixture against Le Mans.
They are, however, expected to be part of the Parisian squad travelling to the Etihad Stadium next Wednesday to face Manchester City on matchday two of the Champions League group stage.
Having featured in each of the French national team’s four matches during the international break, Dembélé will now be able to take a breather – as was the case at the end of August, when he missed a trip to Lille (2-2) – following recent criticism of his performances for Les Bleus . The same goes for Mendes, who has just made four consecutive starts for Portugal in the space of around ten days.
