Matthias Ginter extends contract with Freiburg

Freiburg defender Matthias Ginter has extended his contract with the Black Forest outfit.

The length of Ginter ’s new deal has not been disclosed, but both parties expressed their delight at extending their cooperation, as they look to build on a successful 2025/26 which culminated in a runners-up medal in the UEFA Europa League final.

> “Freiburg has been a huge part of my life since I was a kid, when I used to stand in the children’s section at the Dreisamstadion,” said Ginter, who returned to the Breisgau club from Borussia Dortmund in July 2022.

> “The way the club has developed since then has been incredible. We want to keep building on what we’ve achieved together and continue pushing ourselves.”
