Rose disappointed as winless run continues

Marco Rose admitted how disappointed he was to see Bournemouth's winless run continue following the 1-0 loss to Liverpool at home.

Andoni Iraola returned to his former club for the first time since leaving for Anfield and walked away with three points at the Vitality Stadium thanks to Alexander Isak's winner.

The Cherries now sit in 17th with just three points from their opening five games and are yet to win a game in the Premier League.

> "We couldn't see that one team deserved to win. We played really good in the first 25 minutes and then it got more open. > > "We had to work really hard to get chances but we conceded an easy goal. > > "In both boxes, you had to be ready and be present. In the end, they scored the goal with one situation and we put a lot of effort into creating chances. > > "We panicked a little bit in tight situations. We were fit and I thought we could bring more energy into the game. > > "It is disappointing. It was an opportunity to win, right now we have three points from five games and it is disappointing, > > "I think we missed details."

Bournemouth go into the break without a win

Sky Sports' Patrick Rowe:

> "From the highs of their first win in Europe against Real Sociedad on Thursday to the lows of yet another defeat in the Premier League. > > "Bournemouth now go into the three-week international break without a win. A sour note to leave on given the joy that followed from their victory in San Sebastien. > > "Neither side impressed at the Vitality Stadium and for the most part, the Cherries looked the more likely team to go on and snatch three points. > > "But with Justin Kluivert sidelined through injury and no other changes made from the team in midweek, they just didn't have the legs to go one step further in front of goal. > > "Marco Rose has made just two changes to their Premier League starting XIs this season, the fewest of any side. > > "That isn't sustainable while balancing European football. Rotation is needed to keep this squad fit; otherwise they risk slipping into an unwanted relegation battle this season."

A 'joy' for Rose to meet with old Cherries boss Iraola again

Marco Rose is excited to face old Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola on Sunday.

Iraola left the Vitality Stadium at the end of last season but will return with Liverpool in what concludes a memorable week for the south coast club.

Bournemouth marked their first ever match in Europe on Thursday with a historic 2-1 win at Real Sociedad and Rose is eager to follow it up with another three points against Iraola, who had an hour-long meeting with the German in May.

> “Yeah, we were just happy to meet each other,” Rose explained. > > “Of course I had some questions about the club, about the staff and about the players. We were talking for one hour and then Tiago (Pinto) came in and needed to stop the talk! > > “We could speak for two or three hours more about football, about life, so it was really a joy to speak with him and now I am looking forward to meeting him again on Sunday here in his old stadium. > > “I think he is getting a warm welcome from everyone but then Bournemouth likes to win the game, for sure.”

Bournemouth remain without forward Junior Kroupi (foot) for Sunday’s clash.

Scott earns England recall

Alex Scott has earned a call-up to the England squad.

The Bournemouth midfielder has enjoyed another positive start to the season.

The 23-year-old was part of England's pre-World Cup training camp squad but did not make the final 26.

'It’s history made,' says long-serving Cherries defender Smith

Adam Smith first joined Bournemouth in 2014 when they were in the third tier of English football and only 18 years ago the south coast outfit were on minus 17 points in League Two.

Speaking after his side's 2-1 win at Real Sociedad, Smith told TNT Sports: “What a night. It’s history made. I told the lads before the game, we’re making history playing here tonight but we want to do it with a win and that’s what we’ve done.

> “The lads are absolutely buzzing and now it’s a quick turnaround for Liverpool on Sunday. > > “Yeah, I mean I think this is my 12th season and when I first joined, to think I’d be playing in Europe for this club, I would never have dreamed of that. > > “It’s an amazing achievement to get the win tonight and against a good team. Really looking forward to the next game on Sunday.”
