Former Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior found himself at the centre of controversy during Paris FC's clash with Strasbourg
Former Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior found himself at the centre of a melee following Paris FC's 2-1 win over Strasbourg in Ligue 1. The 42-year-old took charge of Strasbourg prior to his move to Stamford Bridge earlier this year.
Rosenior spent just four months at the Blues before he was given his marching orders by BlueCo, who also have shares in the French club. His departure for Chelsea summed up why many of the Strasbourg supporters are unhappy with their ownership model.
The former Strasbourg boss was reportedly verbally abused by supporters throughout the game, and went over to celebrate and gesture in front of them after the final whistle.
The 2-1 win means Rosenior's side are unbeaten in their first five matches and Paris FC are second in the league table, ensuring he had the last laugh against his former club.
Paris FC opened the scoring through Ilan Kebbal in the 18th minute, before Pablo Pagis added a second just before the hour mark.
Strasbourg scored a late consolation through a Moustapha Mbow own goal in the 88th minute, with tempers flaring just moments later.
After the final whistle, Rosenior gestured towards the Strasbourg supporters to celebrate the win, with Le Racing defender Lucas Hogsberg telling him to stop.
Strasbourg players rushed towards their former head coach, while Paris FC players also made their way towards Rosenior with a scuffle breaking out.
Players and staff were involved in the coming together, while Rosenior was led away to celebrate in front of the home fans, throwing his arms in the air to celebrate.
It wouldn't have been the reunion that Rosenior wanted, having spoken highly of his former club in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game.
He said:
> "I have a lot to thank, the opportunity that I got in Strasbourg. We had an incredible experience there. Learned a lot from many different people.
> "A lot of very, very good people helped me when I was there, and I'm looking forward to seeing them tomorrow.
> "You always want the job you're in to be a success, and yeah, it hurt to leave a club so early when you feel you can make something very successful. It hurts anyone."
