Manchester United's JJ Gabriel is in Barcelona for transfer discussions after requesting to leave the club.

Manchester United youngster JJ Gabriel has arrived in Barcelona for talks, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Gabriel lately after he told United that he wanted to leave the club.

GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed that Gabriel has requested that his registration with the squad be cancelled.

The news broke that Gabriel wanted to leave the club just before they were about to play Brighton in the Carabao Cup.

Gabriel was reportedly set to feature for the Red Devils against Brighton, making his competitive senior debut at the age of 15.

The youngster has been trying to enter free agency, but it's unclear how this one is going to play out as it stands.

GIVEMESPORT now understands that Gabriel has arrived in Barcelona to hold talks over a possible move.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are seen as the two most viable contenders for Gabriel's signature if he does opt for a move abroad.

Gabriel also flew out to France on Thursday, while he has been to Madrid in the past few months.

United did feel that the situation would be rectifiable due to him having time remaining on his registration, but it remains to be seen how this one is going to play out.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are two sides showing an interest, and Gabriel has already flown out to Spain to hold transfer talks.

JJ Gabriel's Man United record:

Michael Carrick has shared an update on the Man Utd squad ahead of their clash with Fulham on Sunday.

Michael Carrick recently spoke out about Gabriel after he was asked in an interview, but he was fairly cautious about speaking on the matter too much.

> "I just think we’ve got to be really careful of the whole situation. He’s a young boy, he’s 15, and the biggest for me definitely, and as a club point of view, is looking after our younger players for the welfare, their well-being, their exposure. All of us, I think we’ve got to be really conscious of that."

Gabriel has yet to make his competitive debut for the United senior side, and it would be a huge rarity for someone to do so at his age.

Whether United can keep hold of him remains to be seen, but it's going to be an interesting situation over the coming weeks and months.
