It would take a very clever person indeed to predict which team Paulo Fonseca will field this Sunday when they host Angers SCO. Having lost to Paris Saint-Germain last night (2-0), Olympique Lyonnais will have to reinvent themselves as they head into what promises to be a particularly busy end to the year. This is largely down to a squad depleted by injuries.
> “I’m going to have to come up with some solutions for the attack, but also in midfield. The main concern is getting the players back to full fitness,” explained Fonseca after the match. For whilst Loïs Openda (26) and Pavel Šulc (25) are not expected to return to action for several weeks – or even months in the case of the Czech player – several of their team-mates could soon join them in the treatment room.
Starting with Tyler Morton (23), who is suffering from the early stages of groin pain and is playing through the pain. Corentin Tolisso (32), who has an adductor injury, and Mads Bidstrup (25), “who took a knock to the knee” and for whom it was “impossible” to play against PSG, are also affected. It’s a real headache that the Portuguese manager will have to sort out if he wants to avoid even bigger problems.
