Bayern Munich entered the Europa-Park Stadion with many key players injured and head coach Vincent Kompany hospitalized. Naturally, Aaron Danks, who was stepping in for Kompany, had a lot of pressure on his shoulders to deliver against a strong Freiburg team that was yet to lose a game at home. Danks and his team delivered indeed, with a strong performance ending in a well-deserved 3-1 win.

> Speaking after the game, Danks said, “I’m really pleased with the performance. We always knew it was going to be such a difficult place to come. They’re a top team; they’re in really good form. We had to show a bit of resilience, a bit of character in the last minutes, and I thought we defended those moments quite well. So yeah, overall, really pleased with the day.” (as captured via @iMiaSanMia ).

The team did stutter in the final 20 minutes—a period in which Freiburg pulled one back—but they persevered and put the game to bed thanks to a very welcome goal from Michael Olise in the dying seconds.
