Bayern Munich squared off against a formidable SC Freiburg side with a laundry list of absentees, including their coach, Vincent Kompany.

The missing personnel meant a heavily rotate d side and players deputisin g in unfamiliar positions. Konrad Laimer was among the affected. The Austrian right-back was shifted back into midfield, where he used to ply his trade for his former club, RB Leipzig.

Despite the rotation and positional shifts, Bayern managed a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Freiburg.

Laimer was proud of his side’s result, even though they missed chances and lost control of the game in the latter stages.

> “We knew it’d be a tough game,” said Laimer in a post-match interview (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ). “Freiburg are a good team. I think we could have made it 3–0, perhaps a little earlier. We had the chances, but sometimes we didn’t make the most of them, and then they came back into the game at 2–1. The stadium got behind them, and the team found another gear. We weathered that period, and in the end, we won 3–1. I think it was deserved, too. And given everything that’s happened over the past few weeks, this result is obviously very important for us. I’m very proud of the way the team performed today.”

All things considered, Bayern can certainly be proud of their victory over a strong Freiburg side.
