Man Utd make Michael Carrick sack decision after Como humiliation
· Mirror
Michael Carrick is under huge pressure to keep his job as Manchester United manager, and the Old Trafford hierarchy have now made a decision
Michael Carrick will NOT be sacked as Manchester United manager before Sunday's Premier League clash against Bournemouth.
Carrick oversaw a humiliating defeat by Como on Wednesday night as United were humbled 4-1 in the Champions League. It means they have won just twice in 11 games in all competitions this term.
But Carrick will be afforded the opportunity to carry on, at least for now, and will hold a press conference tomorrow ahead of the Cherries' trip to Old Trafford.
It comes after he lamented his players for their effort against Como and was involved in a public disagreement with captain Bruno Fernandes.
> Carrick said after the game: "We might win, we might lose, but the way we went about it tonight, I wouldn't say everyone, but the way we went about it in some ways tonight wasn't acceptable. And I just wanted to let the fans know that I feel for them, for sure.
> "It wasn't just the goals, if I'm totally honest. It was the manner and the way we played at times, in the way we went about it, that was the difficult thing to watch for me.
> "It's not about playing for me, it's about playing for this football club. It's the responsibility that comes with being in the position; I'm responsible for the football club and the supporters.
> "I'm giving my best, absolute best all the time, I care about it. My whole life's wrapped around it. I genuinely give everything that I possibly can."
Former Bayern Munich and Germany manager is a name of interest to United if they do decide to part ways with Carrick in the coming weeks.
It's understood Nagelsmann would be open to the approach.
