Charlie Cresswell (24) has said that earning a call-up to England’s senior team is his “biggest dream”. The Stade Rennais defender had been a regular for the Three Lions at U21 level, but has yet to make his senior debut.
Cresswell was a regular at the back for the U21s and was twice a European champion with the side. He now wants to make the step up, as he told Get French Football News.
Chalobah and Quansah as inspiration for Cresswell
“ I’ve always said since I was a kid, it’s my biggest, biggest dream to play for my country. All I can do is carry on working,” he told us. The Rennes centre-back draws inspiration from other Englishmen who have moved abroad but forced their way into Thomas Tuchel’s plans, such as Jarell Quansah at Bayer Leverkusen and Trevoh Chalobah at Como. “It gives you hope. It gives you motivation that, if you’re doing well abroad, th ey’ll give you a look, and they’ll give you a chance,” added Cresswell.
