Tanguy Ndombélé (29), out of contract since the expiry of his contract at OGC Nice, is on trial at Russian club Rubin Kazan, the club confirmed in a post on Instagram.
Ndombélé had two seasons at Nice. During that time, he failed to recover his fitness. Whilst there were bright sparks in his debut season at the Allianz Riviera, he managed just 13 appearances in his second season. He made just three starts in Ligue 1. The former Olympique Lyonnais midfielder’s career has gone off track ever since he made the move to Tottenham Hotspur. Loan moves to Napoli and Galatasaray failed to correct his course.
Since Wednesday, he has been on trial at Rubin Kazan, the club said in an Instagram post. Should he join the Russian club, he would become the first France international to do so since the start of Russia’s war with Ukraine, which began in 2021.
