Barcelona have reported Paris Saint-Germain to UEFA over a tifo that was displayed at Parc des Princes during Tuesday’s Champions League tie between the two clubs.

PSG supporters revealed a banner displaying a masked figure in a PSG shirt attacking the Barcelona crest with a chainsaw.

The Catalans have now issued a strong response and condemned the tifo that was on display.

> “The club strongly condemns the incidents that took place when the tifo was displayed in the stands, including the images of a blood-covered chainsaw attacking the Barca crest,” he club said in a statement to BBC Sport.

> “These images were deeply disturbing and conveyed a message that incites violence and hatred in sport.

> “We consider this kind of imagery and language unacceptable as it goes against the values of respect, fair play and sportsmanship that should be upheld in football.

> “We believe that football should be a space for healthy rivalry, mutual respect, and passion for the game, free from messages that promoted hatred or violence.”

Barcelona now await a response from UEFA and a decision on whether disciplinary measures will be taken against the Champions League holders regarding the tifo.
