Sevilla FC, in a formal letter signed by its president José María del Nido Carrasco, has lodged a strongly worded complaint with LaLiga following the clash on October 18 at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Andalusian club alleges unequal broadcast coverage that omits or distorts key incidents for VAR review.
Complaint over discriminatory treatment and censorship in the highlights
The Seville club says that decisive incidents—including a penalty incident involving Peque, an elbow by Arda Güler and a foul before Real Madrid's second goal—were not given adequate replays or were shown from distant camera angles. In contrast, the penalty awarded for a foul on Kylian Mbappé was shown from multiple angles. Sevilla also firmly rejects the idea that broadcast decisions should depend on subjective judgments or players' protests, alleging that these incidents were deliberately excluded from the official match highlights.
Request for footage and disagreements with the CTA
In response, Sevilla demanded the immediate release of all original footage, its preservation as a precaution against possible legal action, and accountability for those responsible. Meanwhile, club executives met with the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) to discuss the controversy. The meeting ended on respectful terms, but revealed deep differences over how the contentious incidents should be interpreted.
