At this point, Michael Olise is a superstar. His performances in his two years at Bayern Munich, combined with a largely exceptional showing in the 2026 World Cup, have ensured that the Frenchman is a household name worldwide. Unfortunately for the Bavarians, that stardom comes with interest from other clubs. Real Madrid and Liverpool have been heavily linked with making a move for Olise amid arguments that he has outgrown the German Bundesliga and should seek pastures anew in either Spain or England.
But is that true? Bild decided to add Bayern president Herbert Hainer to the discussion, asking for his thoughts on whether the league is “too small” for Olise. Hainer broke things down systematically.
> “First of all I have to say we’re extremely happy we have Michael Olise,” the former Adidas CEO replied first (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ). “He has developed into one of the best players in the world. I’m convinced he can win the Ballon d’Or one day, maybe even this year. He feels extremely comfortable with us. He can win titles with us and play international football at the highest level. We reached the Champions League semifinals and played great games against Paris. That’s what he wants. Regarding the rumours about Real Madrid over the summer, I can say that I’m convinced FC Bayern is a club that doesn’t get forced to sell players – we make our decisions from a position of strength. Michael Olise has a contract until 2029, and I hope he’ll extend.”
Contract talks with Olise are reportedly set to start soon, and it will rapidly become clear just how happy the Frenchman is in Munich. For now, though, he seems content and firing on all cylinders as one of Bayern’s star players.
