Eight teams representing six football confederations split into two groups of four. This is the opening game of group A here at the center sportive deolv neon in Switzerland [music] at UEFA HQ and it is Egypt against Korea Republic a group that also contains England and Colombia who will play later. Well, the two teams have made their way out. It is time for the anthems. [music] [music] >> [music] [music] [music] >> Please remain standing for the national anthem of Egypt. Holy Minister. [music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> Hallelujah. [music] Happy [music] [music] [music] birthdayless. [music] >> [music] [applause] >> So Egypt and Korea Republic then to kick off in group A. Two of the most successful teams in their respective federations at senior level. The Korea Republic national team has qualified for 11 successive FIFA World Cups. Egypt record sevent seven time winners of the Africa Cup of Nations. And in a few years time, no doubt a fair number of these players will be featuring in those senior squads. The career republic team has been drawn mainly from the players who are expected to represent them in Qatar at the FIFA Under 17 World Cup. A competition that Egypt have also qualified for in November and December of this year and a fair number of those players expected to make it into the squad as well. So, all the teams in action today in both groups A and B, Egypt and Korea Republic looking to get off to a winning start here. Egypt will be in their traditional colors. Korea Republic in their change strip. So here's the Egypt 11 then expected to set out in a 4-33 formation with Akmed Safwa the captain doing most of the pivotal play in the central position in midfield with Omar Abdul Raheem and Akmed Bashier either side of him. Adam Hass is the main center forward wearing nine with Daniel Tama 11 and Haled Mocktar on the left wing supplying the ammunition. Drinko Brushkallo, a Swiss referee is in charge. A young referee just 31 years of age from Geneva. And there is the career Republic 11. 4231 expected from them with Kim Ji Wu, the Busousan E Park striker as the main center forward. Lee In Wu is in the hole just behind him from Suan Blue Wings. It's a team with a smattering of players from all over the K League youth team ranks. Goalkeeper Yangyong Yong is in the Pohhang Steelers youth team. So the two captains in the center, Akmed Safwat, wears the armband for Egypt. Yung Haan of FC Soul is the Korea Republic captain. So, two groups of four, a roundrobin competition. Every team will play three matches. There are no semi-finals. It's straight to the playoffs. So, the two group winners will play off in the final, but every team will play at least four games with a third place, a fifth place, and seventh place playoff matches between the sides who finish second, third, and fourth in their respective groups. So, six football confederations represented outside of those FIFA under 20 and the 17 World Cups. It's a rare opportunity for these teenage players to pit their wits against different styles of football from different parts of the world and different confederations. A perfect warm-up tournament then for that under 17 World Cup later in the year. Brazil and Colombia here from South America. Egypt one of two African teams involved along with Ivory Coast. England and Spain from Europe and one each from Conquer Calf and the AFC Career Republic representing Asia and Canada. Conquer Calf who of course lifted the trophy last year courtesy of the United States. >> It's going to be Career Republic to get us underway. Slight false start. Now we are underway. Junha clipping the ball out wide. Now say with the throw for Egypt. header on towards Safwat who will look to get forward from midfield as often as possible and support Adam S the main striker Kim Jong Hyun Chroy Mun out for a throw for Egypt on this near side which Muhammad Alad will outside again and you it's a risky one back to Malakama. He was very quickly out of his penalty area very much on his toes to clear it away. Yang Jingong going long. >> It's a free kick for Korea. Yang Si Yong, the player taken down. The only player who is not with a K League club in the Korean starting 11, Yang Siong. He's in the Bockam youth ranks in Germany. Safa. >> German football is uh quite often been a very useful gateway to European football for Korean and Japanese players over the years. Yangiong has already taken that route. >> Corner to defend here for the Korea Republic. Deep delivery to the back post. Korea Republic just about managed to scramble the ball away. That's >> beautiful setting this, isn't it? >> Lake Geneva in the background there. You can see over the grass mound on the far side. Nice conditions today as well. 17° centigrade. Almost perfect for football. Korean throw taken by Chroj Hawk. >> And Egypt win it back. Neither team keeping possession particularly well at the moment. Here's Ysef the leftsided center back just switching the play out towards Tama on this near side in support. Good work off the ball though by the Koreans to try and win it back. Als has it though and that was a bit of a loose delivery picked up by Hansung Min. It's a better ball in behind though and Tama on the end of it trying to pull it back into the danger zone. One back by Safwa and Egypt have the throw. Hamad Alside will take it. The right back. Three in the penalty area for the Egyptians. Now four stepped away by Yung Hawan. [screaming] Korea looking to counter. Have themselves a throw and a bit of relief from that Egyptian pressure. That's a poor piece of distribution from Yangyong Hong. >> Another chance again for Mohamed Al. He's gone short this time though. Into Safwa, the captain. Cross into the box headed away only as far as Tamer who couldn't bring it down. And now it's driven in from Bashier. No real power on that though to trouble Yang Yongyong Kang Mus. Both the senior teams of these two nations qualified for the World Cup in North America. Korea Republic didn't have a good time of it though. Exited in the group stage Egypt mightily unlucky in the round of 16 against Argentina. >> Played in towards Safwa. >> He may get it back again. Good recovery from Choy. Kingman soon gets it away. >> Good spell there for Egypt. Just beginning to get on top. Korea Republic struggling to get the ball away. That's headed out by Kangmanson. >> And now Yang chance to break forwards. It's a good run by Yang as well. >> Kimji Wu just pulled out wide the center forward. The ball didn't come his way. This is Lean Wu. Kim Jiho. Well, Egypt have had a lot of the ball without really troubling Yang in the Korean goal. Now Choy again. Now the pressure finally starts to come from Egypt. It looked as though they were standing off a bit, determined not to be drawn in to allow the Koreans to play around them. >> Republic have a throw on that far side. Mocktar touched on again towards Kim Ji Wu. Haven't >> seen too much of the ball in these early moments. the Korean center forwards. >> Here's Choy again looking for options. There's not too much movement ahead of Cho and Kang when they have the ball at the back for Korea Republic. Here's Chroy Ja Hawk now the right back played into Yung. One back by Basher. >> Relatively nervy start so far from Core Republic. Egypt seem to have settled the better of the two. >> Kang and Choy though the two center backs getting on the ball a bit more now. Too many options when they have it though. That's the problem. >> Here's Yong Hawan Choy. Yang tried to help it on but wins the throw off Muhammad Alain Abdul Latif the Egyptian coach down there orchestrating things. Here's Kim Yong Hyun. Players of both these teams know this is a great opportunity to really stamp their mark on the coach's final decisions for the squads for Kata. >> Those that are very much on the fringes anyway. under 18 competition, but it's effectively an under 17 squad for Career Republic. It's a deep ball into the box. It's gone right the way through. No touch on it. It's a goal kick for Egypt. winning a lot of ball in the midfield area. Now the Egyptians Tamer helps it on now. Safa tried to go on the outside. That's a good challenge though. >> Safet trying to win the ball back. Gives away the free kick. Kim Yong Hyun back with Yang. >> Kangu played into that congested part of the field. >> Kim Jiho was out wide. That >> was a good run. Touched off again by Young, the captain. >> Fisted out wide again to Kim Ji Wu. >> Here's Tamer. >> Koreans win it back temporarily, but Tama has it again. It's a throw for Korea >> trying to play their way into this game. It was a strong start from Egypt, but without actually creating anything. And that's a bit of a mistake there from Kim Yong Hyun and gathered by Yang Yongyong. Good covering after the initial error from Kim Yong Hun. Plays for Suan Blue Wings. >> Here's Choy. >> Now Kang. playing the ball between themselves a lot. The two Korean center backs Kang Muang and Chro Minun who plays with the goalkeeper Yangyong Yong in the Pohang Steelers youth set up. Good challenge from Choi. It's a good run as well. Kim Jiho cutting in, skips past a couple. Nobody prepared to take it on yet for the Koreans. And in the end, Gang Siong couldn't get the the shot away, but it is a Korean ball. Two or three times there in that attack, you thought that somebody was actually going to go for goal for Korea Republic, but just shifted on the responsibility once more. And all that came of it was a throw. Kim Yong Hun into the box towards Captain Young. >> Tam puts it out for a another throw for Korea. >> Exactly flooding the box, are they? Just two players in the penalty area for Korea Republic. It did look as though that was out of play. The ball back to Hansen Minimun with another throw though for Korea. thrown in again towards Yunghaan, the captain. Not sticking though at the moment. >> That's a free kick for Egypt. quarter of an hour full of niggly fouls. It's a a real fight for superiority in those central areas. Kang Chun seen a lot of the ball choy Mhun. It was the first time there that he threatened to bring the ball out further up the field. Prior to that, he's just been playing short passes really to his central defensive partner. >> And Egypt happy to back off and allow them to do so. Yongyong going short. >> There's Kim Yong Hun played in field but outside read it intercepted and then ran straight into Yung Haan. Here's Yang Siong and back again by Aladed and given away. Here's Hay. >> Now Yousef Safa. >> Now Allah out to Al. using this right flank a great deal. Egypt also Tammer as well isn't the best piece of defending. Tamir winning it back for Egypt and gets the shot away this time. Tame. [applause] Well blocked though by Kang and an easy one for Yangyong to fall on. That was more positive from Daniel Tamir. Been too many prepared to take a shot on in the opening 18 minutes. >> Chman Jhun again with the ball at his feet. Nobody closing him down. at the moment doesn't seem at all comfortable to bring the ball out and make use of that space ahead of him. Chun >> certainly there if he wants it. >> Career on the the front foot HERE THOUGH. THAT'S A BETTER EFFORT. AND WHAT A GOAL THAT IS. Career Republic's first attempt at goal and it flies into the corner past Malik Ammer and it is Career Republic who score first. It was a lovely move. The first truly positive piece of football that we've seen from them and Kim Xi Wu firing that ball into the corner. Egypt nil. Korea Republic one. >> Goal scorer. >> He's barely seen the ball. The Korean center forwards. >> After a strike like that, Egypt will be hoping that he doesn't see it too many times more either. >> 19 and a half minutes gone. >> Egypt to had the majority of the ball find themselves behind after a clinical strike from Kim Ji Wu, >> the Korean center forward. That really was a beauty. What a way to open up the competition for the Koreans. >> It's Kang Ysef send it up again towards the dangerous Tam up there as well. Now sad. >> That's over hit. >> Throw for Korea Republic. Well, >> they took a while to settle, but that was certainly a settler. The goal from Kim Ji Wu. Egypt looking to hit back. Here's Tam. >> Wasn't the best ball to Tam, but found its way to him. They certainly looked the liveliest in the red of Egypt as Tamt almost got back on the end of that, but it's cleared away again by the Koreans. >> Kimyong Hyun now Kang Kim Jiho on the wing charging forwards. Not sure he's going to get there. >> Nice spot though from Kang Mus. Better distribution from the center back areas. Good header from Kang. >> Kim Jiho. It's blocked behind for a Korean corner. >> Their first of the game so far. >> Now a chance to get Kang and Choy forward from center back. It must be frustrating for Hussein Abdul Latif. The Koreans weren't offering a goal threat at all until Jiu Kim struck. Six in the penalty area for career. >> Delivery was poor though. Failing to clear the front post. >> Have a throw now. thrown into the penalty area. Joseph trying to challenge for it. It's opened up again for the shot. Blocked away. >> They're a bit pensive in the opening quarter of an hour in and around the penalty area. They're not now the Koreans. Up to Hab again. Tame. Oh, that's a good ball over the top by Tame. Chance here maybe for Hed. Decent cross as well, but the Koreans clear their lines >> out wide to Kim Jiho. >> Now Kang has more of a composure now about the Korean player. It's amazing what a goal can do. Joy into the midfield to Hangung. Now back to Yang. The >> save has been largely chasing shadows up there for Egypt. >> Well marshaled so far by Kang and Choy, the two center backs. Here's Ysef. >> Now Kamar with the throw for Egypt. Ado Allah to Elsad. >> Good exchange of passes with Tam. Those two have linked up well together. Adul Raheem fires the ball in. back again by Aladeds. Twisting and turning. He makes his way through and then lost his footing. Well, he's claiming he was foul, but you have to agree with the referee there. Looked as though he was off balance. Muhammad Alside when he hit the shot. He probably appealed more out of embarrassment than anything else that he'd slipped over in such a way with the the goal there to be hit. >> Cleared away by Yunghaan. There's our sads. Alakama who's not had a great deal to do in fairness to him but stood absolutely no chance with Kim Ji Wu's goal >> Tam Allah now Ysef Safa again they work it to this near side Egypt als who've been the two standouts for Egypt in the opening half an hour. >> [crying] >> There's Choy >> now. He does bring it out. Gyong Hun on this near side hugging the touch line. >> Foul against Yangi Young though. by Malakame. No surprise again. It's come down this near side towards Tame with the throw up towards S. It's picked up by Abdul Raheem. Now >> Tame first time by Al but straight into the hands of Yang Yongyong. >> Well they well match these two. There's very little in the contest. >> Just that wonder moment from Kim Ji Wu the difference. >> But in career ahead after 19 minutes Chong Hun in a bit of space on this near side if they can switch it up. But it's gone all the way back again to Yangyong. Here's Kang Choy. Back to Kang again. >> Oh, goodness me. That was a risky one. Safwat knows he very nearly intercepted that. >> Kimyong Huni Wu unable to get on the end of that though. And now Sah brings it out. That's a foul by Choy and Omar Abdul Raheem. forward by Yousef. >> That's all the way through to the goalkeeper. >> Using two pitches for the action at the center sport pitch six and the stadium pitch which is the main pitch which is this one. This will also be used for the the final. Next action on Sunday, career play Colombia. Egypt take on England and they finish next Wednesday against Colombia in the group stage career finish against England. And then it's the the playoffs. side was there in support but the ball given away >> by trying to win it back. Session well kept though by Leon Wu creator in that career midfield but he has too much space to work some magic. Lean Wu Y one Kim Yongqun. with Yang Siong. >> There's no real press from the Egyptians when Korea have the ball in these deep positions. >> Koreans are desperate to invite them on so as they can play their way through. But Egypt not falling into that trap. >> Forward by Kang. Back again with Yung Haan. >> Kangmi Sun dropping off. Still not being tempted in yet. The Egyptians until the ball goes into those central areas. But Hangsome men defended the ball. Nice touch on from Hangman this time. >> Kim Yong Hyun. >> Good ball into the area. Yang Siong trying to take on Allah but came off second best. from Kim Yong Hyunim. Here's Yousef. >> Now, Ysef plenty of space to advance into. mocked up Safwa, the Egyptian captain trying to drive his team forward again. It's clipped out towards Alad. Well defended again by the Koreans and it's a goal kick. >> Kim Yun down there giving plenty of instructions to Yang Siong, the left winger of the Korea Republic. Touch on again to Kim Jiho. Run into Gamal. Gets it back again though. Kimji Wu was waiting with his arms open. It's the kind of area where he picked up the ball and scored the only goal of the game so far. >> Only goal of the game and only significant chance really. Both teams have struggled to break down the opposing defense. Malikameir and Yang Yong Yong in the other goal have had very little to do. One standout moment though from the Busousani Park striker Kim Ji Wu >> outside Abdul Raheem Safet gets the cross in. It's a good delivery and the header the wrong side of the post. That's the kind of thing he needs to do. Akmed Safwa, the the captain, the creator in that Egyptian midfield. >> It's a lovely delivery into the penalty area. >> Now, Yang the feeling he's going to get caught with one of those. It's a risky game. >> Gamma with the throw for Egypt. >> Zafwa coming short again. Clear by Kang. >> Here's Bashit. Another chance maybe for Korea Republic to break away here. Egypt had a fair few players up field. Frantically trying to get them back now though. They didn't play that particularly well. The Koreans. Tamare winning it back for Egypt. Did really well. He was on the ground as well. Fade that out to Mockta. That's a tug on the shirt from Kim Yong Hyun. It's a free kick to Egypt in a decent position. >> Good work from Haled Mocktar. >> Had that header off target just a few moments ago. >> Probably Egypt's best chance actually of the first half. Can they better it here though? Six minutes to the break. Trailing by Kim Ji Wu's goal to nil. scored on 19 minutes. >> Into the penalty area and over the top it goes. Touch was off a Korean defender though, so it's a a corner for Egypt, their second of the game. 5 minutes to the break. It's a deep ball in the header from H cleared away. Tame picking up the loose ball on the edge of the area, but the Koreans get players out quickly. Here's Gamal. Four to aim for in the penalty area for Gamal. The header on is gathered by Yangyong. Chun >> just about kept that in play. Or did he? Assistant on this near side says it was out. Did look suspect
