This one to go to determine the winners of the competition. Somebody's 100% record has to go here in Neon. The two European representatives at the eight team tournaments have been the dominant forces in the group stages. Now they take on each other in the final just as their senior national teams did at the last European Championship. Well, the stage is set. First, we will hear the national anthems. International Buddhist. [music] [music] [music] >> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Please remain standing for the national anthem of England. Foreign [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> [music] >> Well, the last week and a half here have been about development as players and people learning from different cultures and tactical approaches about education on and off the field. And as the competition's name suggests, about fostering friendships, but ultimately today and this final showpiece is about silverware in Switzerland. Will it be England or Spain who get their hands on the trophy? Some prodigiously talented young players on show at the Kov Sports Center in Neon, [music] the stadium venue for the final. just across the road from UEFA HQ in Neon. These countries certainly have plenty of previous [music] mentioned that last European Championship final. Well, this is the England under 18 team today that will [music] take to the field showing seven changes from that which started the win over Korea Republic in their final group game on Wednesday. Ryan Kavuma McQueen who scored the winner in stoppage time as a sub in that match comes back into the starting lineup for the final. Oscar Sanderford, Calvin Dia, Kairen Thompson, and Josh Mensah Greenwood keep their places from midweek with everybody else in the 22 player squad available off the bench. Five of that side are starting for just the second time at the competition. 32-year-old Swiss referee Hashrim Pavani is given the honor of overseeing the final. He made his debut in the Swiss Super League back in March, now has four top flight matches under his belt. this [music] competition providing development opportunities for the officials as well. Only two of the Spain team who start today also began their two-nil win over Canada on Wednesday in the last group game. Captain Junior Ojirona at the back and Alloy Gomez, the Ajax midfielder who makes the third straight start are the only ones asked to do double duty this week. The highly rated Owen Amika scored the [music] clincher against Canada as a sub and starts today. He's already been a goalcorer at senior level for Granada this season. Christian Ima was on [music] target against Brazil in his only previous start at the Friendship Cup. He comes back into the team today [music] as well. Competition regulations insist that everybody in the squad has to play 90 minutes across the tournament, but both coaches have ticked that box prior to the final already, sharing out the minutes over the course of the group stage. Each with three wins from three. They both qualified for this final effectively with a game to spare. England have beaten Colombia by three goals to two and then 2-1 wins against Egypt and Korea Republic. Spain who started with a 2-1 victory against Kop Devoir then beat Brazil by three goals to one and kept their first clean sheet of the competition in a two-0 success against [music] Canada on match day three on Wednesday. They both scored seven goals so far on route to reaching this final. [music] The medals will be handed out the trophy presentation at the conclusion of the final game here of the UEFA Friendship Cup. [music] Just to mix it up a little bit, it will be England wearing the red and Spain the white shirts and England to get the action started on the say so of referee Chavani. Much anticipated meeting this. Here we go. The final of the UEFA Friendship Cup underway in neon. England in the red from left to right. Both sides have uh impressed significantly in getting this far in the manner in which they have got this far. Close to call as to how this final is going to go. Some wonderful talent on display. But Spain fing forward first and forcing the very early corner kick over on that far side of the field. Been a hugely successful international window for England at youth level so far from the under 21s down to the under 17s including this under 18 competition. England have played 13 matches so far won 12 of them and drawn one. Let's see what they can do in the final here. But Spain threatening early with the inswinging corner. It's touched away from trouble by Kavuma McQueen. It's only a second start of the Friendship Cup, but he has been one of the stars for England, scoring in both previous appearances, including off the bench to win it right at the end against Korea Republic here on Wednesday morning. >> Jordi Pesque forward from fullback taken away from him by Uga Dele. Tyrese Mubisi is the England captain. started the first two games and back into the side today. Plays his club football in France with Strasborg and has represented the French actually up to under 17 level. Just shade Mensa Greenwood who was the star on opening day for England. His two goals at this friendship cup both came in that first fixture against Colombia including a spectacular strike to effectively settle the victory. Both teams taking it in turns to apply some early pressure. Nubisi stepping in. Ma Greenwood winning it back. Not a lot of room to work for him over there. You can see a really good crowd in today as well. Tickets have been free throughout for this competition. A lot of local schools and football clubs have been involved as well as part of the community feel of the competition, many of whom have been providing training bases for the eight competing nations from five different confederations. But it's the two UEFA representatives that face off in this final. Fourth game of the day. Everybody else has already played their final fixture. All the competing countries guaranteed to play four times. Wasn't a lot of room there, was there, for Guona in goal. Just able to complete the clearance under pressure from Karen Thompson. referee will step in here and award the the free kick. If you haven't been with us earlier, just to recap what has already happened today on this final day of competition, notably Brazil clinching third place in effectively the bronze medal match, beating Colombia by two goals to nil in that all South American affair. Final games are all between the teams that finished in the same respective position in their group. A little bit frantic here. Thompson turning infield and winning the free kick. He'll settle for that, I think, up against the Barcelona athletic left back. Jordi Pes plays for the fourth tier team. pass his reserve side effectively coming in for his second start of the Friendship Cup. Big rotation policy employed throughout by the majority of competing countries and as I mentioned everybody in the squad has to play 90 minutes as long as they're available to do so. It's already been the case for everybody involved here including in goal where both have rotated that role. It's Ben Vickery that gets the nod for England today ahead of Roman Dell who started two of the three group stage games and Kier Pona for Spain. He has preferred to Darlington Osachuku who would have been hoping to be involved today. I'm sure the former England under6 international held four years on the books previously at Manchester United, but he's amongst the Spain substitutes for this one. Both countries have taken a similar approach to that goalkeeping position and given each of the keepers in the squad two matches a piece. >> Not too much time on the ball for anybody early on here. Junior, >> one of those that have played senior first team football already, the 17-year-old Jirona center back. That's one well by Uga Dile of Leads United in midfield. And now Dakit joining in from fullback going down right in front of the referee who does step in and award the free kick. >> Who's had a good tournament? Calvin Dia. He started three of England's four games now. already playing at under 21 level with Chelsea. Was on their first team preseason tour actually to Australia and Asia in the summer. >> He's won the free kick in a useful position who signed a first professional contract with Chelsea back in April. Nubisi Analy who stand over it and it's touched short instead to Kavuma McQueen and he was always going to try and have a go from there. Couple of spectacular goals to his name already at this competition. Now Kairen Thompson, but he showed a little bit too much of that to Christine Igga. >> Vicky forced to come out of his area to intervene. Nubisi >> break into Strasborg's first team late last season. Actually, Tyrese Nubisi still only 17. He was their youngest player for nearly 50 years. The referee is content to let this go. Roberto Thomas is the one who comes away with it. To England's relief, nothing came of it. It's back with victory. One of the three Manchester City players in the England side, the goalkeeper and the two center backs, Marlo Barrett and Freddy Lori are all club colleagues. Nubisi, who was previously on the books at City before that switch to Strasport, [cheering] the one putting the the pressure on. A little bit too much pressure on Marco, says the assistant referee. >> He's the one signaling there for the the free kick. >> Mention the success of the England youth sides throughout the course of this international window so far. A day when plenty are in action. Here is Mensa Greenwood with a big chance though for England. Out of nothing really. They want it back on the edge of the area there. And he's perhaps the player they would have wanted in that position, but couldn't find the finish. >> Played a part in winning it well with the challenge. Having done that bit, he would have expected to score. Just showed me Greenwood hadn't appeared an awful lot of danger. Had a good goal scoring start to his season at club level. Greenwood, four in four in the under 18 Premier League for Chelsea. And there's a yellow card out here for Oscar Sanderford. First name into the book. And that hasn't taken too long. Inside the opening nine minutes of the final, the England right back sees the game's first yellow card. The 16-year-old from Spurs. >> He skipped the side actually in the last game. >> Confirmation of his caution. that makes his job up against Christian IMA all the more difficult >> going into the book so early Michelle Pes the Barcelona colleagues combine there are four of them in the Spanish starting 11 who play in the youthrex at Barcelona Here is Christine Ima to take on Sanderford and did really well to keep it in play. DAKIT TRYING TO DEAL WITH IT BUT presented the chance to Michelle and he can't quite take it. Thwarted by the frame of the goal but he will certainly feel he should have scored from there. All sorts of space and he couldn't capitalize. Well, that was a huge opening. >> England are yet to keep a clean sheet at this competition. >> Did score first in all of their group games, but conceded an equalizer in all of them >> before going on to win all three. They really should have been behind here. Both teams though with big chances in the opening 10 minutes of the match. Somehow it stays nil nil. Has been a a lively opening to the game. Now it's England's turn to put some pressure on in numbers high up the pitch. >> Free kick though is for Spain. Spain are the only nation to beat England at any age level in this international window when the senior side did so in the UEFA Nations League. Their opening game by three goals to two at Wembley a week ago. There is IA with Pescar in support but the flags up far side. Not quite able to time that one as required but it was close. The only England age range team who haven't won actually in this window were the under21s yesterday when held by Slovakia in Stoke to a goalless draw. But it was still a a significant result as it clinched qualification with a game to spare for Lee Carley's team. Three to next summer's European under21 championship where they looked for a three repeat. The two-time defending champions. We have one final match in that qualifying campaign on Tuesday against the Republic of Ireland away from home, but the the job is done with that game to spare. They knocked out Spain in the quarterfinals last summer on route to winning the competition. beat them in the final two years prior with that James Trafford penalty save right at the end of stoppage time. Plenty of previous between these two nations including at under 17 level England's only World Cup win in that competition came against Spain in the final in 2017 in India. that 5-2 win and Phil Fodden and Sergio Gomez both scored twice. They've won the last three actually against Spain at under 17 level of England and they have the the chance here for Kavuma McQueen. He needs no second invitation to strike it in that sort of territory. It didn't miss by much. Couple of excellent goals he's already got at this competition. He is very much in the mood for more. the player on loan at Portsmouth from Chelsea. >> Played first team football for both already. That was close. >> And his goalc scoring record for England, whatever the uh the youth level, is remarkable really. >> 27 goals in 26 caps across the different national teams, including two and two at this tournament going into today. It was nearly three and three there, wasn't it? Nubisi Dak is on the run and he had Kabuma McQueen in the middle as well. Marlo Barrett getting back to take the throw. Ben Vickery in goal >> capped by Scotland as well at under 16 level. He was with the Hibanian since the age of 10 before he signed for Manchester City a summer ago. this year has signed his first professional contract at the club. How advanced Dakit was over there furthest forward from fullback but just runs out of room. England having survived that huge scare when Michelle put one against the crossbar. have since then maybe taken a little bit more of a grip on the game. >> Pesier forced infield by Thompson. Aluba will get it back again. Jorge Dominguez or Latuba as he's known as he wears on his shirt. The 16year-old from Atletico Madrid's reserve side. He's been operating this season in the third tier of Spanish football. actually made his debut in La Liga for the first team in August. Pascar did well. Helped out by Micho. Asking to chase it. Sanderford lets it go. England will try and build from the back with their captain Lubisi. >> Cameroonian dad, a Scottish mom born in France, captains England. Tyrese Nubisi >> as he has in three of the four games at this competition. He was given the afternoon off on match day three against Korea Republic. It's part of the M4 squad rotation and his replacement Sambby came in did a really decent job and scored a wonderful goal in that game. He's back on the bench today. Plenty of players on both sides who've already impressed at this competition who are hoping to be called upon later including Michael Mills scored in his first two games. The Newcastle player amongst the England substitutes for this one. >> Marco coming under a little bit of pressure helped out by Latuba stepping in with Freddy Lurorry. Lori back in possession in position in his own half of the field again in combining with his central defensive colleague Marlo Barrett. Those two know each other really well in a second season together at Manchester City. Barrett joined from Coventry Lori from Aston Villa. Lori is the senior of the two. He's a year older than Marlo Barrett. So he signed a first professional contract in the summer. Barrett doing so on scholarship terms. He's not yet 17. A couple of 16 year olds actually in the England back four today. Oscar Sanderford as well forward by Nubisi. >> Sanderford acknowledges the intention to find him and he wasn't quite able to do that. BC did well against IMA. >> Thompson comes away with it but didn't get too far. Dispossessed by Marco Chel working it wider for Aron Mika. A very highly rated. Ama is on the move looking to go all the way through. It needed Vicory to stop him out quickly at his feet. Good goalkeeping from Ben Vicory. That's the first flash really of what Owen Mika can do. Arguably the biggest reputation coming into the tournament of the Spanish side. Already playing senior football with Granada, scorer of a senior goal in the Saguna division in Spain this season. Wasn't too far away was he from the opener here. England did go immediately up the other end, but the free kick is for Spain. He's under contract at Granada is Owen until 2031. He relatively recently signed a new deal. It is reported there's a a release clause in that which many clubs have been linked with activating Real Madrid and Milan perhaps the most notable recently. There has been English interest reportedly in him as well. Seen the likes of Arsenal and and Newcastle linked. It's all speculation at the moment. shows exactly though the esteem that he is held in. Now Nisi comes away with this. Mitchell has stayed down. Nishi covering good ground and it's only just right from Kavuma McQueen. Said that before in this first half in these first 20 minutes. Goalkeeper I think knew this time he wasn't going to be required although again it didn't miss by much. He's always going to get his shot away where possible is Ryan Kavuma McQueen. >> Scored in the championship, his first senior goal for Portsmouth against Lincoln City earlier this season. He's played seven times already in England's second tier after that season long loan deal from Chelsea for whom he debuted off the bench in an FA Cup quarterfinal. And so Greenwood putting the pressure on Pon. Spain can clear. Looking for Owen. >> That first senior goal that I mentioned scored in a one- all home draw for Granada against Albacet just last month. Taking big strides already at the start of his senior career. Now cut to Sanderford. Referee stepping in here. He seen something I think off the ball. Just wanting a word there with Alloy Gomez. It's a fairly prolonged conversation of the Ajax midfielder joined from Barcelona in the summer of last year. plays for the Ajax under 19 side in the Netherlands. Elo Gomez. It was he who got the winning goal on match day one for Spain against Kavoir when he came off the bench to do so. And he's started every game for them since then. Barrett playing it forward. Could come back in his direction yet though. Michelle, assist the referee is flagging. As we reach the m
