[music] [music] >> [music] [music] >> You think it's mov [music] >> [music] >> Okay. Okay. [music] [music] >> [music] >> There he is. Please welcome the teams of Canada and Spain. >> [music] >> It's the final day of group games [music] in the UEFA Friendship Cup here in Neo. Canada [music] play Spain in group B as the jostling for final group places continues. Spain six points [music] and head-to-head advantage over Brazil means they cannot be toppled from their current group B leadership. Canada could end up being group B runners up if they could win this one. And Brazil failed to win elsewhere [music] in group B today. >> And whatever the final outcomes, it's another opportunity for these young players to broaden their experience and finetune their skills. >> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [applause] >> Please remain standing for the national anthem of Canada. >> [music] [music] >> We [music] glory. [music] [music] forever. [music] [music] Glorious. [music] [music] [music] Holy [music] God. [music] [applause] Canada still looking for their first win inside 19 minutes in this year's tournament. They are on two points for now having managed to win a penalty shootout against Kot Divoir on match day two. And that extra point which they got for doing so uh could end up being absolutely critical in the final group B table. Spain still defending a 100% record of course in Neo >> and booking their place in the final match thanks to their victory against Brazil last time. The combined team photo good indication of the ethos behind the friendship cup. Now, we've seen some very competitive games once the whistle has been blown. Canada make five changes to their lineup today with central defender Daniel Pritov back after suspension. Barry Obolu starts for the first time this tournament. Burkitch, Breto and Del Rio all return to the 11 for Canada. Abas Smiley is our referee today. It's all changed for Spain today. Oni El Gometh keeps his place in the starting lineup. Chichurro in goal and Kuruma at left back make their first appearances of the tournament. Matio soal who scored against Brazil returns to the starting 11. Canada in all red are in third place currently in group B one point behind Brazil in second. Uh the South Americans are playing Kot Divoir elsewhere at the center sport de Kre at the moment and there could still be some significant changes in the group B table before the end of today's game. Spain in their change colors will get us underway here. Referee smiley making absolutely sure that the games kick off at the same time. Spain into their first possession. first of many. You suspect they have been the outstanding side in group B so far. Remember that uh on match day one, Brazil put six goals past the Canadians that Spain found it within themselves to beat Brazil by three goals to one. So whether that is an indication of where these two teams sit in the pecking order of under 18's football, well, we'll find out soon, I guess. >> Certainly, we can expect another game that Spain >> look to dominate through possession. Sraal who scored that wonderful injury time goal against Brazil to settle it 3-1. >> Spain had been two goals ahead by Halime, but Brazil pulled one back and for a while it was a little bit nervy for the Spanish. >> Overall they were always the superior side across the 90 minutes. Gerido >> Yunor out to Koruma. Remember every player in the squad including the goalkeepers all have to play at least 90 minutes in this tournament. So Kuruma will get his chance today >> as does Darlington Chichto >> between the sticks for Spain. Gerredo >> exchanging passes with Yunor. Junior takes the direct route forward this time and Martinez couldn't do much with it. >> Balu with the throw for Canada. Straight back into Spanish possession. If they uh carry on like that, Canada, it's going to be a very very tough game for them. So Sabra, Koruma, Gometh at all levels, the Spanish keep the ball so well, the last thing you want to be doing is giving it to them cheaply. No foul given as SAL went down. >> We already know that it will be England uh it Spain meet in the uh gold medal match if you like on Saturday. >> They finished top of group A with maximum points. The best that Canada can hope for is a game against Colombia who finished in second place in group A. The greatest likelihood though is that they will play Egypt. He finished third. Certainly it is possible that Canada may not even get third place in group B should cut Divoir beat Brazil elsewhere Gerido Casses almost uninterrupted Spanish possession for very nearly five minutes at the start of this game. That will be a Canadian goal kick >> and a chance for the North Americans to get a feel of the ball perhaps. MC Kater smashes it long. It was one by Arnel Casses. Chicho first time he's had to handle it. >> Yunior Gerido to Yuno. >> Koma Gerido Casses almost caught in possession and had to dive in as a result. Anuku Cases and it earns him a yellow card. Bringing down Lucas friend just seeking a little bit of clarification from the referee but Arby was very quick to his pocket for that challenge and Spain have an opportunity here from the set piece. Almadine Burkich has placed the ball. One of the Spanish leads that applies his trade in Europe with SVO. >> Final warning for the pushers and the shs on the edge of the box prior to Burk's delivery here. Wasn't the best delivery in the end >> and Spain >> awarded the free kick in the aftermath. >> Nice early ball this time. It's Martinez around the goalkeeper. Oh, it's a red. Is it? Well, he came out of his box kater and clearly denied a goalc scoring opportunity. And Sam Cater has been sent off here with less than 8 minutes played. The second time in three games at this tournament where Canada have been reduced to 10. Well, it's an awful moment for Kater. >> They will certainly say that he had eyes only for the ball, but the rules are the rules. And referee Smiley brandishes the red and it means that Canada have got to play the overwhelming majority of the game against Spain with only 10. I suppose if you were making an argument for him staying on, you might say that they were covering defenders. But when goalkeepers leave their 18yd box and bring down an attacker, I think we all usually expect to see red, don't we? It's a shame for Kater and it's going to make life incredibly difficult for his teammates. Now we all saw what happened against Brazil when they were a man light. They got to play almost twice as much time with only 10 this time around. Benjamin McKinnon is the young man that will replace Kater in goal. going to be his first appearance of the tournament and not his last because Kater will be suspended for Saturday's game and his first job of course will be facing up to this Spanish penalty. Substitution for Canada. Number seven Bik replaced by number 12 Benjamin Men. Canada is the player that is sacrificed to allow McKinnon to come on. >> So they're a man light in midfield. Someone's going to have to drop back there >> as McKinnon prepares to face the spot kick. >> What am I saying? It's outside the box, isn't it? So, it's not a penalty. It's a a free kick. >> Been inside the box, he wouldn't have sent him off. Nevertheless, it will be an early test for McKinnon. >> Oh, now Casses is there. So is Gerredo I think so rather now Casses is the player that's placed it with more determination and he goes for goal. It's over the top. >> Casses not hitting the target. Spain's uh best effort so far, but with the numerical advantage, >> I don't think it'll be too long before they're creating more chances. Here's Romero waiting in the middle. Sabra delayed his pass but it still might fall for Canada. I mean still might fall for Spain rather. Casses. Strong challenge on him by Omarby. Riby again. Back to McKinnon. >> I'm sure will be a little jittery having come into the game in this circumstance. Garo, >> Canada throw. Vitally important now that Shane Lami's team compose themselves. got to find a sustainable way of getting through the next 80 minutes or so because it's going to be plenty of time added on at the end of this first half >> given how long it took us to get the goalkeeper on. Ger now Casses. >> McKinnon clears. By the same token, Spain have to make sure that they don't lose their heads as well. They've got to keep playing in the way that best suits them. >> Not always completely straightforward playing against 10 men, especially if those 10 men all get behind the ball. Give it away to Lucas Friend. >> Not an enormous amount of support up there. Laros doing his best to get alongside friend. Del Rio also arriving here and needs some help I think >> running out of room. >> Couldn't hold off his man in the end of Balu. And now Spain. Well, I was about to say they might be able to break, but it was a vital challenge >> to stop Romero doing just that. >> Free kick given. >> Perhaps a touch fortunate that no yellow card was shown. Gerido cases back to Matio Gerido. Yunio Kuruma. Gerredo >> Yumatine >> ran out of room this time. So the young Barcelona forward has often been the target for those more direct passes when the Spanish lads do decide to move it forward a bit more swiftly. Uni >> under pressure >> and ensuring a goal kick. These Friendship Cup fixtures for Canada are the first for their under 18 since February when the same generational group completed their under 17s World Cup qualification campaign. A campaign that saw them come up short. They won't be joining Spain in the tournament in November. So pass intercepted by Del Rio who is the man that's dropped into midfield to cover the departing Burkitch. Cases >> Yunior >> Kuruma Sabra skipping past the challenges but couldn't find a way past Prebbitu. Spain building something here. Slight deflection on the shot I think from Romero. Benjamin McKinnon has a safe pair of hands. And once again, Canada give it straight back to Spain. >> The 10 men of Canada are going to be absolutely exhausted by the end of this game if this particular pattern continues. >> Spain with all of the possession. Canada having to work their socks off to try and hold them at bay. >> Martinez Nun to Kuruma. He's going alone. the full back tried to cut it back to SA but Canada smashed it clear. I think Karuma sees himself more as a central defender than as a fullback. He is a left footer but I don't know if he's the most natural attacking player. Trello gets it back from Karuma. Casses has crept forward. Overweighted that cross unfortunately. And with the 20 minute mark approaching, it is still goalless here in Neil. Koruma >> a Spanish possession. It's just endless >> Gerido Martinez to the overlapping cases who's made room for himself nicely and that was a chance for Spain. Matio soal was in space but slightly mist timed the finish. But another sight of goal for the Spanish for whom an opener can't be too far away here says Junior so's pass finding cases Martinez >> Gerido Spade inching their way up the field of play once again everybody in the Canadian half barring the goalkeeper here's Rafa around the back can he deliver not quite and then goalkeeper McKinnon had to come for the punch. >> Spain still with it. Martina thought he was fouled by Del Rio. The referee did not agree. >> Something happened off the ball there involving Lucas Friend who's gone down under the challenge of Geredo who seems to be mystified by what occurred. They've heard the punishment for Greedo. >> It's not only Spain's work with the ball that's so impressive. You saw just how quickly they won it back there or they uh forced the error anyway. In the end, Canada did get the throw. Now Casses Martinez off on another run but he's offside. You can hear the Canadian head coach Shane Lammy barking out the instructions to his young players who will need extra special organizing now. Referee encouraging Canada to get on with it. The count has started. McKinnon is within it as he launches it downfield. >> Friend asking a lot of Belfon. The >> problem that Canada have got as well is that they'll be desperately aware of how dangerous it'll be to overcommit given Spain's [snorts] ability to pass their way through any team really. >> Canada can't allow themselves to >> get caught in possession up the field. At the moment just getting possession would be a start >> Kroo. Good challenge by Omarby. >> His energy in the midfield's going to be so important and he tried to lead a surge down the right hand side there. gave away the free kick in the end, which was also probably the correct decision. >> Giving him a chance to get back in position. Gerredo to Arno Casses. Chip beautifully into the path of Martinez. Bolu holding him up >> and Del Rio getting a tackle in. >> They're working very hard those Canadian players at the moment. >> Doing a good job, too. >> Not all that many Spanish chances to speak of. Gomez over to Yunior. >> Kuth is wide. >> Kuruma back to Gerido. Spain constantly >> changing the focus of the attack here. Moving Canada around. Daniel across >> Yun. Back to Gero Martinez. Back to Cases. Sabra with a touch. Koruma going for goal and he wasn't far away. Really got behind that one. The Spanish defender, had options left and right, but saw the corner and very nearly found it. >> And given the amount of possession they've had in the opening 28 minutes here, you certainly couldn't begrudge Spain an opening goal. Martinez. Good weight of pass >> and a decent stop from McKinnon as Kuro Navado hit that one first time. Things starting to open up for Spain. Maybe. >> He's still Rio. >> Karuma, >> Rafa Kruuth. And that'll be a Spanish corner. >> Canada working so diligently, >> but is it all in vain? The first prize will be to try and get to Halime with the clean sheet intact, but that alone will be a huge challenge. Here's SA who can hit them from range. Good block. And now the break could be on for Canada. >> Good recovery in the midfield from Gometh. And now there are one or two Canadian players out of position. Can Spain take advantage? Union. Oh, >> now Casses Holmes Baba Karuma. He tries the cross. Balu got it away only as far as the edge of the box. Gomez. Canada absolutely pinned back. >> The pressure unrelenting at the moment. That's a good header away by Priv. >> To their credit, Pribit and Kapor are marshalling that defensive line >> absolutely brilliantly at the moment. So >> Kruuth >> are now Casses had time to think. McKinnon great jump. [applause] It's under a lot of pressure there. The goalie that took it cleanly. McKinnon already being given the hurry up by the referee. But >> these are the moments where Canada desperately need to try and put a foot on the ball and to just compose themselves. Easier said than done. Now Casses Spanish throw. They'll look to keep the tempo high here. Up that >> held forward by Agalu. >> Straight back into Spanish possession. How many times have we said that in the opening 33 minutes? >> Karuma finding Geredo. >> Now Casses lifting one into the path of Romero. >> Once again getting it away. They >> need to just mix things up a little bit. >> The Spanish, >> their best chance so far did come when you Martinez managed to take on and beat his marker. Creating that little bit of extra space getting in behind Canada. Here is Martinez. That's better. Casses with a cross back to Martinez and it'll be a corner. >> Good little moment for the Spanish there. Now Casses gambled got ahead of his uh teammate and between him and Martinez they created a shooting opportunity and now a corner. Strikes me that goalkeeper McKinnon isn't the biggest. [crying] They've taken it quickly and Kroo couldn't run it into the box successfully. Martinez with a cross. McKinnon with a punch. Well judged once again by the goalkeeper. But here comes Spain again. Prohibbit got his boot to that one and Canada clear through Ogalu. Still a substantial amount of football to be played at the end of this first half where the game has been played >> almost exclusively in the Canadian half >> Gometh Casses. This really is a a learning experience for the Canadian players. having to play almost entirely without the ball here. >> What a test of discipline it is. Casses with a shot off target and Canada inch that little bit closer to Halime. behind you. >> Casses finding Eli Gometh. So, >> Martinez back to Soal. Kruuth. >> Kuruma. Kuth still available. >> Martinez. Once again, it's Casses on the overlap. Dangerous cross to the far post. >> Canada with Lar Ro able to shield the ball and pick a pass or two. That's a rarity. And they got themselves a free kick also. That's the big test for Canada. when they do uh suddenly get the ball back, you've got that problem where the Spanish are suddenly all over them like a rash trying to force the mistake, trying to force the turnover. That is absolutely where you cannot afford to give it to a Spanish team. And now Casses Martinez once again showing his pace trying to get away from Agalu. Good cross. Another flying punch from McKinnon who's done ever so well since unexpectedly stepping into this game. Nunio out to Kruuth. >> Kuruma. Yunior to Gomez. >> Casses. Block from Abolu. >> 38 minutes played here. This is when uh Canada are going to be struggling >> in terms of their energy levels as halftime approaches. >> Natine coming inside this time dancing past the challenges beat three men there and then it's put wide in the end by Navaro. Rafa it was with the final shot here after it was rolled into his path by Sabra. Spanish corner comfortably cleared by friend. >> The first touch for a very long time for goalkeeper Chichurro. Gerido touched into the path of Martinez, but Kapore was there first. Not the best of kicks from McKinnon. Kruuth Gomez out to Kuruma. There's room here for Rafa Kruuth. The shot turned away from danger. Casses with the ball in. >> Del Rio. into the final five minutes of normal time at the end of this first half, although we'll be playing a few more. Can Spain make their breakthrough before that halftime whistle? It would be a minor achievement. uh by Canada to prevent them from doing so. Remember, it was only 1 nil at Halime in that heavy defeat they suffered to Brazil. They held the Brazilians at bay until it all fell apart in the second half. Here's Santiago Del Rio. A rare opportunity for Canada to get forward. Del Rio stopped by a brilliant Gerredo challenge. Gomez >> bending one into the path of Martinez once again. This time McKinnon was there first of Bolu do keep trying to hit those long balls Canada and each and every time the Spanish just pick up possession once again. Once again, the goalkeeper encouraged to kick. >> It's clear that uh the Canadian players are instructed not to try and play through the Spanish press. Maybe that's a case of uh knowing your enemy. >> Always a dangerous game. But the problem is is that by constantly booting it forward lik
