[music] Fore! Foreign! Foreign! Hallelujah. Hallelujah. >> [music] >> I love you. What's your job? >> [music] >> Where is >> [crying] >> I love my Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Are you doing it? Please welcome the teams of Egypt and Canada. It's the final day of competition in the UEFA Friendship Cup. There's one more match before the tournament final before England and Spain go headto-head. It's the meeting of the third place nations. Egypt playing Canada in what is effectively uh the playoff for fifth. More importantly, it's another opportunity for development as these young players get the chance to play against cross federation opponents. That is of course the ethos of the friendship cup. International Canada. >> [music] >> That's [music] >> [music] [music] >> Please remain standing for the national anthem of Egypt. for international relations. Hallelujah. [music] [music] Hello. [music] Let's do it. [music] [music] >> [music] >> A different sort of challenge today for the players of Egypt and Canada. And that is what this competition is all about. Playing against teams from different cultures who play in different styles. Another learning experience for these young players today. And plenty of wonderful memories have been created at this tournament. I'm sure coming into the game, Egypt have somewhat better record than Canada. Canada have still only managed the one goal in the tournament so far. Uh both of these nations finished their group stage participation with two points courtesy of a single draw and a subsequent penalty shootout victory for the extra point. the combined team photo at the beginning of every Friendship Cup match. Uh, a great sign and signifier of what this tournament is all about. more than just a competition on the pitch. It's about promoting personal development and giving these young players a first experience of meeting players from other cultures and langu and who speak different languages. lots of changes today as both sides look to give everyone in the squad game time. Muhammad Sabbury starting in defense and Muhammad Magdi in midfield. Khaled Mckar is restored to the 11 and we'll look to add to his two goals already this tournament. Lucas Fandri is our referee today. Another local official from here in Neil in Switzerland. Canada's lineup gives further opportunities to Ulri Zambul and Barry Ogaloo in defense. Tristan Ble and Jamil Abu Bakar also start in a retoolled Canadian midfield. Lucas Friend continues up front. >> Canada in all white today. It is Egypt in the red shirts and dark shorts. It is Egypt that will get us underway shortly. Being that it is a weekend, we have many more spectators in the center sporty today and they will get behind these two sets of young players, I'm sure. Away we go then in the meeting of the nations that finished in third place in groups A and B, Egypt and Canada. Both nations drawing one and losing two of their three group stage matches. Canada had it extremely tough in group B going up against Brazil and Spain. And to make matters even worse, when they went up against Spain, they were down to 10 men after just eight minutes. He also had a a man sent off against the Brazilians, too, on match day one. [screaming and crying] Alas, long ball for Egypt. Not the best of clearances from Sami Kater, who was the man who got sent off eight minutes into that Spain game. >> Pal kick to Canada. Bill thorn to Bllythe Abubakar Canada throw. It was quite impressive actually the way that Canada managed to fight on with only the 10 men against Spain. A side of course who are quite superb at holding on to the ball. They had to work so hard. The Canadian lads they kept it at 1 nil all the way until the 88th minute when Spain finally got a a second goal. There was plenty for the Canadian players to be proud about in that one. >> Mohamad Al will restart for Egypt here. Plenty of distance on the throw. Well, Riy's pass intercepted. Might be an opening for Egypt here. Saudi had Saudi once more. The challenge on him by Omarbe for Egypt. This is uh a game where they will be looking to do more fine tuning. ahead of the forthcoming under 17 World Cup. [crying] Canada have not qualified for this year's tournament and this Friendship Cup is the first time they've been playing since that unsuccessful qualification campaign. Z Saudi neatly done. Gamal's ball in. Katov taking no chances. Dangerous cross from Mohamed Ramal >> and smashed clear by Private. Another dangerous ball in and Egypt so close to an opening goal that this will be another tough game. >> Prince Keed got the defensive header in that time. Bllythe will bring it away for Canada. did brow the world well too. >> Laros ran into trouble. >> Foul given. Free kick to Canada in dangerous territory. Tristan BL will take the free kick. Three men in the Egyptian wall and don't think he'll go for goal. BL from here. >> Final warning for the pushers and the shoers on the edge of the box. Here's Bllythe's chip and it'll be a Canada corner which BL will go and take himself. It's on the books of Toronto FC Christian Bllythe. Quick word for Prince Ke here and his marker who have continued the pushing and the shoving ahead of this subsequent Canadian setpiece. Referee keeping a close eye on proceedings as BL whipped in a near post corner cleared away. Glythelu smashed long for friend to chase back to Abdeliz Mahmud. Egypt throw. The next stop for Egypt after today is the under 17 Golf Cup. They start that competition on October the 17th in Qatar. Egypt are in a group with holders Saudi Arabia as well as Iraq, Kuwait and Yemen. That will be their final preparation >> ahead of November's under 17's World Cup where they play the hosts Katar and they're also in a group with Panama and Greece. Sabry back to Mahmud. Sabry's long ball comfortably won by Prebbitu. I >> think we'll see a different side to Canada today compared to the one that went up against both Brazil and Spain. I think they can afford to be a little bit more expansive today against the Egyptians. The Brazil game saw them beaten by six goals to nil in the end, Canada. And I think that was a bit of a shock to the system, but they recovered well in their next game after that. And as I say, the performance against Spain was a a vast improvement. >> Another Egyptian corner which Kater got a fist to Basher. I think it is taking this Egypt corner. Another test for Kater coming up I would think. >> And he was up to it. The goalkeeper, little scrappy in the aftermath. Neither side really able to get hold of the ball. But now Canada might be able to launch something on the counterattack with Bllythe. Let the ball run across him well, but he was outnumbered two to one by defenders. BL has it back now for Canada. Bell for good work from Agalu but gave it away. our friend on side and Apollo. who with the break trying to find Bllye who I think rather took his eye off the ball. Egypt throw. You can see Canada are very much more on the front foot than they were able to be at any point in the game >> against Spain. Canada throw. Good strong challenge by Omarby who's wearing the captain's armband to start the game. No foul given. >> That was Zambble who seemed to catch Khaled Mockar. Egypt still in possession over on the far side and there could be an opportunity for them here. >> Good defending by Ogalu >> and the ball safely with Sami Kater. Sabry finding mockta Saudi for the Egyptian goalc scorers here in Neon. He scored on match day one against the Korean Republic. That was the last time they avoided defeat Egypt. On match day two and three, they lost to England and then Colombia by two goals to one. Prince Keed. didn't quite hang on to it. >> He did well. So too did Adel Allah tackling back. Zambble >> Bllythe back to Belf >> given away by the fullback but he's won it back himself. Now Lucas Friend managed to get the shot in but blocked at source. Oh great save by Mammud. Lucas friend onto the rebound and Mimmude saves that one too. Canada looking the more dangerous side from open play or it was to te up Jamil Abu Baka for the shot and Mimmu kept out that one plus the follow up from friend. Canada corner went all the way through. 15 minutes gone here. No score in Neon. >> Earlier on today, Brazil beat Colombia 2-0 to claim the bronze medal or figuratively speaking anyway. Kivoiris also won their game 4-1 against the Korean Republic in the meeting of the nations that finished in fourth place in groups A and B. Free kick to Egypt here after a foul by Edwin Omorby. Final touch coming off Saudi. Goal kick for Canada. Kabito friend. He really ought to get a goal in the friendship cup, shouldn't he? By the end of today. Seems a missed opportunity otherwise. Laros leaving it for Og Bolu who starts his second Canada game in a row today. I thought he was impressive against Spain where he and his teammates were being tested throughout defensively. Kater fun example. Belf did well to keep it in play. The referee said he didn't. He probably did keep that one the right side of the line, but difficult for the referee to spot it. >> It's not at the elevated position that we are. I'll say flicked on by uh Tamir. I think it was Egypt throw very even start to the game. Both goalkeepers have had jobs to do although Sam Kater hasn't had to make a save yet. I don't think he certainly had to defend and command his sixyd area under a barrage of Egyptian set pieces. Friend chasing this but Mohamed Sabri in complete command for Egypt. Foul on Mohamed Gamal. One of the younger players in the group, Gamal been used in different roles as both left back and also in midfield. At this age, under 18, under 17, players probably still are some way away from finding their very best position, although they all know which one they prefer. Damble's long ball. Ke was chasing it and that was good enough to force the throw. live. Quinton Belfuby friend did all he could. >> Canada looking to keep the tempo high here. But >> that will be an Egyptian throw. much disputed by the two Canada players nearby, Bllythe and Belf played their way out of trouble nicely. And here's Zed Saudi with Khaled Mktar in the middle. Saudi's pass over to Tamir instead. And it's off target. Egypt didn't quite make the most of that counterattacking opportunity, but the way they created it in the first place was very impressive. foul on Belf. Midway through the first half now. Still no score between >> Egypt and Canada. Abolu. Oh, that was a nasty looking foul. I think it was just a yellow that was shown, but uh certainly it was a challenge which fully deserved punishment. In fact, I'm being told it was a straight red. It's Muhamad Magdi that has to go. >> I must say I'm not surprised because it did look a very very nasty one. You'll see it again here. He clearly took aim at his opponent and there was no intent to go for the ball. presence of covering defenders made me think it might only be a yellow, but the severity of the tackle itself uh was such that the referee deemed it beyond the pile and Muhammad Magdi has to go now. So much for the friendship cup, eh? There was nothing friendly about that challenge from Magdi. And Canada will play over an hour against 10 men here. >> Whipped in. Oh, terrific header. Agalu nodding it goalwoods. Mahammud tipping it to safety. And that is Canada's best moment so far. That was on its way into the back of the net from Barry Bolu. >> Canada will look to keep the pressure up here. Ke to BL. Well, what an opportunity they've got now. Canada yet to win a game in 90 minutes, yet to score a goal since match day two. And they've got a great chance of improving upon those two statistics being that they have the numerical advantage for over twothirds of this game. as she's cross. Oh, it's a good one. And that was a huge opportunity for Mocktar. He could only nod it delicately into the hands of Kater. But Egypt do look very very capable on the counterattack and that was a good opportunity for them to take the lead. >> Zambble Prairie to Agalu pass that time from the left back. The Canadian bench unhappy with the referee's decision that time and Shane Lammy the head coach is just getting a little warning from the referee to calm down. Now, those of you that saw the >> Spain Canada game will remember that the Canadians felt that they had no luck at all in that one when it came to the refereeing decisions. Not only was there a uh the sending off for Kater early in the game, but the deadlock was eventually broken by a disputed penalty. Canada later had a a penalty appeal of their own waved away. Omorby chance to look up and pick a pass friend onto this one. He'll need some support. Oh, lovely little cross just too high for Laros. Canada certainly looking the better side here. Way through for Bon. Keep up the pressure. the North Americans. Lar Rosh Canada throw. As with the ethos of the tournament, it really will be a very different experience today for Canada than it was in those two extraordinary games against Brazil and Spain where they themselves were down to 10. Both of those games will be a lesson they won't forget in a hurry. And today they have the opportunity to learn a little about having the extra man themselves and the difficulties that that itself can sometimes provide. Tristan Bllythe will take this latest Canadian corner. Another one into the near post which was comfortably headed away by Gamal. Oh, mistake by Omarby letting in Mocktar who's got some support here too. Big opportunity for Egypt. What a save from Kater to prevent Zed Saudi from giving Egypt the lead. A vital stop by the young Canadian goalkeeper Saudi in the clear. I wanted to take it with his right foot. That may have been the problem. Friend back to Zambble here. 15 minutes to go in the first half. still goalless since they've been down to 10 men. Egypt have had two good chances. Now the other end of Balu had a effort saved. I feel that the opening goal might not be too far away. Bllythe, he's over hit that one. Balu did well to keep it in play, but that's all he could do. Ammud smashing it long. Tamir couldn't catch it. friend waiting in the middle. >> Half-hearted appeals for a Canadian penalty waved away. Zambble's clearance. Canada won two of their three matches in qualifying for the Under 17's World Cup, but they lost the crucial one against Jamaica who go to the tournament instead of them. They did play in last year's World Cup though. Canada. They got out of the group stage for the first ever time, but then lost to the Republic of Ireland on penalties in the round of 32. Mohamad Sabry, >> his free kick immediately repelled by that Canadian defense. Abolu Prabito. He was caught late. >> Be a free kick. Is that going to receive a card? I wonder. It was a little bit late the challenge from Mockar. And he does go into the referee's notebook. Uber car. Belfont's attempted cross blocked. >> This occasion the Egyptian counterattack was stopped in its tracks. Here's Abu Bakr. He was fouled and so a Canadian free kick in good territory once again. Interesting that the referee there and sprayed the line on the pitch where the free kick was to be taken. >> And it was actually a couple of yards behind where the player was himself, which rather suggests that that was where the free kick should have been taken, but it is only a yard or so. And it's definitely within shooting range this one. Four men in the Egyptian wall. >> Nine minutes or so to the break here as Prince Ke goes for goal. Couldn't quite bring it down in time. Got the elevation all right. Just a little bit too high from the Canadian midfielder who was looking to put some whip on it. Abu Bakr finding Bllythe friend. Strong challenge on him by Allah. Bllythe two with him. Canadian throw. Abu Baka. It's their time for a first half goal for Canada. That's not a bad cross. Belfon trying to get onto the end of it and Ke shot finds the net and Canada have the lead with 38 minutes on the clock and they deserve that. >> Prince Ke the goal scorer number 17. >> Canada scoring only their second goal of this year's Friendship Cup. And it was a decent strike as well from Prince Ke. >> The midfielder in the right place and knew it had to be struck first time. His effort just out of reach by Abdul Aziz Mahmud in the Egyptian goal. And with Halime approaching, Canada ahead against the 10 men of Egypt. >> I wonder if the mindset will change now for the Canadian lads. They're defending a lead which is certainly not something we've seen up to now. Being that they are against the 10 men, I think they would be very well advised to look for the second goal with the caveat that they must not overcommit because we have seen a couple of very dangerous looking Egyptian counterattacks. Agalu whose cross led indirectly to the goal. I won't be credited with an assist but it was certainly a very important contribution. showed his pace down the left and delivered an excellent cross to the back post. >> Solid challenge by Agalu too. I think he's played really well in the two games in which he started. Now the race is on here. >> Octar having to wait for support to arrive. That's the direct result of being down to 10. Five minutes left in the first half here as Bllythe finds Ke Bell. Another good situation developing for Canada here and it will be Egyptian ball. Free kick foul by Belfon. Another one rolled into the path of Obalu. And then the challenge on Laros leads to a Canadian corner here. Second goal conceded here would be a minor disaster for Egypt. Don't think they can afford to concede a second one. If they are to have any hope of coming back in this game, remember if the scores are level at 90 minutes, we proceed to a penalty shootout if required. So might consider it only one goal that they need to potentially win the game. BL's delivery. Egypt half clear it. Belon made it nice and easy for the goalkeeper. Okalu find an example. Ke's been very adventurous in the Canadian midfield. Prince Keed Larash dinking one over the top. Oh, that was a hell of a challenge [laughter] from goalkeeper Mimmude who got plenty of the ball but also took out Lucas friend. They have been quite physical. The Egyptians who of course are down to 10 due to a tackle from Mohanad Magdi which really was very unpleasant. Tambble's pass up to Quinton Belfon who drives in across. Friend couldn't get there. Laros is there and it's tucked away. Canada lead by two. Tristan Bllythe with the goal. And that is a decisive step towards a first win at this year's competition for the Canucks. advance. >> Great work on the far side to just turn it back into the danger area. And there was Bllythe gratefully accepting the tap in. And just as we were speaking of how Egypt probably could not afford to concede a second, they have. Canada tripling their tally of goals >> in this year's Friendship Cup inside the opening 44 minutes. Another collision between friend and goalkeeper Mahmud. And friend is struggling a little bit as a result of it still not moving too well. The striker foul by Daniel Prabito. Egyptian free kick. Very difficult situation now for the Egyptians. Down to 10. two goals behind in this game which is uh their last in just over a week or fourth in just over a week I should say. We move into stoppage time now at the end of the first half. Just one minute to be added. Kater finds Quinton Belfong. Abu Bakar's delivery. Mahmud grabbing it at the second attempt. And that should take us to Halime. That's all smiles for the Canadians. Two goals to the good thanks to efforts from Prince Keed and Tristan Bllythe. Long way back for Egypt now who are down to 10 men and they trail Canada by two goals to nil at the break. Hallelujah.
