All right, we are live here on YouTube. So, yeah, let's get things started. Uh okay. So, can I actually see Of course, I'm still trying trying to get learn how to use this. Uh T-man's, what's up? All right. So, yeah, we are in here. And we are also watching the feminine game at the same time. So, it is about to be half time there. And I'm not watching Yes, I did see fire his goal. It was just a good goal. Scored from the cross on the left from Roots. PBI, what's up? Hey, how's it going? Yeah, so we got some people in here. I'm going to wait a little bit. Yeah, we're going to wait a little bit. Again, this is like a more much more even informal than other stuff. And then we got a few things to do on the docket. So, watching City at the same time. Yeah, I had that on for a second and then uh it became a bit too much to do everything. I did write the five headlines. So, I wasn't going to do that, but I'm definitely going to do a five headlines later. Um I was really happy with um I was really happy with the uh Cubarsí and Araujo and Martin games on like second thought and then I looked up the stats for Cubarsí. He may have had his best showing of the season against Getafe. Um already a question for uh congrats, bro, on the 100,000. Where are you from? Uh okay, I originally from uh Pennsylvania. Like rural PA. And I've been living in the greater New York City area for the last soof almost 17 years. So, with a little bit of break in between. Um yeah, so 15 years straight, but then 17 years total. Uh Man City Southampton still 0-0 at the break. So, Southampton fans are at Wembley are definitely giving the full applause to their team to get that far. >> [clears throat] >> So, yeah, uh Domagoj, hey um Hey Dad, just came to say hi. Hi Domagoj and congrats. Thank you so much. Uh catch you soon. Yeah, I think yeah, uh Dom. >> [laughter] >> He saw my message. I already put you on blast that we're we're loving to have you. We'd love to have you back on the podcast. Uh hopefully sometime even next week, hopefully. So, yeah, hopefully uh yeah, I loved your piece on uh very similar to the idea of like Barcelona's winning philosophy, uh how they play. So, I would love to see uh yeah, I'd love to see you back on the show soon. Um Uh so, let's see. We're going to give I said we're going to give just a few more minutes, like five more minutes. Uh any questions? Yeah, I love these kind of questions. Uh so, just continue to give me questions and then we'll uh eventually we will do the uh the 100k reveal. Uh Van Lee, congrats. If you're to bet your spleen, would it be on 100 points or 100 goals for us this season? Uh I don't really understand that one. Uh I mean, I would say Barcelona are very much more likely going to get 100 I mean, they might even finish with 100 goals in La Liga this season, right? I think with today they they they're at 80 87. Yeah, so they're up to 87 right now. Oh, I guess that's not that great a question. 87 goals, 85 points. I obviously the 100 points is is a little bit easier uh or more likely. Uh yeah, I would say tight on goals. I mean, 100 points is really tough. That like that last like eight points after like 92 points 92 points is really a cut off. Um any team I think that's had more than 92 points in La Liga has generally been an elite La Liga side including the the the two or three times that Real Madrid made it or two times that Real Madrid made it. It's just really hard. Um it takes both the league to be a little bit weaker those seasons like it is this year. Um so, yeah, like in a regular year and by regular year I mean when the other La Liga teams had a bit more money, uh I don't think Barca would be getting 85 points. I think they'd be more like 80 right now. Uh and Real Madrid I think for what they've been you feel like they should have higher 70s. But yeah, I don't know. Um Better question, do we beat the 102 goals that we scored last year? I just don't think so. Uh and when you know, T-man's we were doing the math the other day on the stream, the lack of the goal production from Raphinha Raphinha being out, I think that's a really hurt. Um I think that really hurt. Do you prefer the guard of honor or to win the league in Madrid's face? Uh I don't think Madrid's going to give a guard of honor, Van Lee. So, I think that winning La Liga in Madrid's face in El Clásico, that is better. I take Yeah, I take that one I 100 times out of 100. Um Sajid, Visca el Barça y Visca el Catalunya. I agree. Uh Evolve, you're asking how did you get in watching football and Barcelona? Um Yeah, so I think I've said this before. I started Man, it was like FIFA 98 on like Sega Genesis or something. I just I liked Barca's colors. I liked the red and the blue. Um and that's where I think that's where it began. And so, I think I said growing up, you know, when I was in when I was a teenager, I really liked I liked Thierry Henry at Arsenal, Dennis Bergkamp at Arsenal, uh and those invincible squads. And then I also liked Barcelona. That is uh Sameer, hey, what's up? Those are the the two teams I really enjoyed growing up. Uh and then as kind of Messi and Ronaldinho, so we're talking like, you know, '05-'06, getting out of high school, I it it became really all about Barcelona. And then when Thierry Henry left for Barcelona, like there was no reason even for me to to stick with Arsenal. So, yeah, so I I I just stuck with it. And I said uh I said, you know, Barcelona, here we are. Um congratulations for 100k. Love from Nepal. Hey, hey, thank you for joining me all the way from Nepal, Sameer. Um Yeah, so that's how I got into Barcelona and uh and then the way all this started for those who might be newer, uh Layla, you're saying I love the aggregate size we have next season year with possibly Bastoni, Bernal, maybe Leão and Sørloth. Uh Layla, that's an interesting point about like the about Barcelona getting bigger. And when talking about Bernal, the reason why I think he why I do not even take him over de Jong, but I think he adds so much more and why I thought he was missing so much against Atlético cuz when you're against transition teams, his size in rest defense on your own throw-ins deep in the opponent's third as well as on um on corner kicks, his size on rest defense is just essential. So, like I mean, we even saw today Lewandowski was huge defending two different corner kicks or or whatever it was like uh deep throw-ins in Barcelona's half um [clears throat] against Getafe. Like his height that being Bernal's Yeah, he's a huge dude. And then Lewandowski also like he isn't even the biggest guy, but Lewandowski's pretty big, too. Um So, yeah, you just you need some size there and uh you got to the difference because not a difference, but it's really hard to have those really tall guys not often are they as prepared technically as Bernal is. So, that's why I continue to say that Bernal is um I'm just so excited about what he is and what he can be. Uh continue to be excited about that. Um T-man's, totally agree. Yeah, like the stream, guys. Support this 100k man. Really appreciate it, T-man's. Thanks so much. Um [clears throat] >> [snorts] >> Yeah, any any liking of the stream is really useful. Thank you. Um [clears throat] I'll give that a I'll give that one of those. There you go. Um okay, now the questions are coming in. Really like this. Uh [clears throat] Now coughing. Um >> [clears throat] >> Uh and then for newer people, I'm just going to remind everybody um the [snorts] way I got into all of this, I'll say with uh in 2015, I started writing for Barca blog for Francesc Tomas. And then after 2 years of writing with him in 2017, I then uh we started a podcast together. He hit me up with the idea and he was like, "Hey, podcasts again are already pretty big." So, we started the podcast together and there the rest was history. After that point, we just uh yeah, that was it. And then uh it just kept going from there. So, that is how that happened. Let's see. Uh Kyle, "Hi Dan, Color here. Congrats on 100k. Any more history content planned?" For sure. In the summertime. Uh I'm going to ask you, Color, what are you looking for? So, like I um some of the things that I want to get into in terms of the history is I feel like I could do a little more dream team content. I really haven't done too much on like Johan Cruyff's like dream team and like kind of broken them down. Um think about doing like a comparison um between them and some other years. Um Let me see. Uh >> [snorts] >> I also uh yeah, I also want to get into like the '80s and stuff a little bit more. Like uh Bernd Schuster and yeah, kind of dive into that '86 run. I have never done something on like the '61 run either, though I have talked about like the the two cups. I also like a big thing I should probably do this summer that I'm really considering is I think been 6 years now since I did the top the top 50 for Barcelona players. I think it's kind of time to redo all those with with better graphics and things like that, right? Um so, if if there's something you particularly want to hear about or a particular history piece that you want uh yeah, let me know. I always am making I'm having ideas and and uh working on that stuff. Uh would Alvarez fit in the number nine position in your opinion, Christian? Ooh. Ooh. Um yes, because he's just talented. I think with the amount of chances he would get at Barcelona, Alvarez would score 30 goals. I do. I think that I think the guy just he puts himself he's a better version of Ferran Torres. He's a more clinical version of Ferran Torres. Um and so I think with that service on the mini mall, uh he's and he's just good at pressing as Ferran as well. And like we we do compliment we say the best parts of Ferran Torres are his ability to find space in the box and his pressing ability. And I think Julian Alvarez does that. But what Ledesma says right after that, Christian, is really telling. Do you spend 100 million on um an upgrade of Ferran Torres? Right? Right. And I think that's the point that Ledesma is making and I think might be the right point. I don't think that's necessarily what Barcelona need. I think Barcelona do need more of a Sorloth, but like Sorloth isn't necessarily the answer. Uh he's just not good enough with the ball at his feet for me and like a Sorloth. Uh that's why I continue to say like I don't know if the right guy's out there. Like I would take a chance on a guy like Azlani for like 25 mil because worst case scenario, you let Lewandowski's wages you send those off the books so you don't even pay him the half or the 50% of what would be this season, which is still a big number. You bring in a guy like Azlani and say, "Hey, you're not the starter. Ferran Torres is a starter, but if you get hot, you'll be the hot hand. Like we hope you can do something out of this." And I would kind of take a risk with that. Uh does he have follow also in the Metropolitano next year? I think Julian stays. Uh maybe, but to think that he's staying just for the chance the off chance that Atleti wind up getting there, I don't know about that. Samir, I always watch your pre-match preview and review of the game, but don't comment often regards to how much you're watching content and some of my annual La Masia review, too. Thank you. Yeah, the La Masia review is a big one, too. Um I am excited to have that out. Though that said, the Barca Athletic team, who is really young, they have had so many injuries this second half of the year, it's it's really difficult to say who's actually broken out. Like there are a few new names, I guess, to talk about, but problematically, uh a lot of the guys that have really popped off in the second half are way down the the the age groups. Like we're talking like U14s and U13s and the ages that I don't really love getting into because they're just so young and there's still much so much time left for them to go. Uh yeah, I don't really love I don't really love diving that deep into the uh into the academy, but we'll we'll get there if we have to. Uh that said, like updates on, you know, if we went to Carles that kind of thing. Uh let me see. T Manz, I remember I started listening to pods at my job and saw the pod near pod it was so nice to hear from a different perspective. Appreciate you, obviously. Uh Steel, congratulations Dan on 100k, really incredible. Thanks so much. Christian, Christian, "Yo Dan, your biggest takeaway or advice for someone looking to get in your industry, journalism, commentating, uh etc." Okay, Christian. Uh lot of ways, love the question, lot of ways to go from this. Um so, I work in sports. I think the biggest takeaway advice I want to give people is that you've got to find the balance that works for you. So, I've been very lucky to have family and friends um and and just support throughout the years that has kind of given me patience in a lot of different things. Like I had as I started my career, I missed a lot of holidays. I basically was unavailable for any morning that you needed me before 10:00, 11:00 a.m. I just wasn't there because as I was trying to work on my on-air stuff and break in on-air work, uh which I'm still in theory breaking into, you know, again, that doesn't totally pay the bills, but as I continued to do my on-air work, I had to facilitate that. I've talked about this for a long time. I worked in MLB for a long time, Major League Baseball. I've worked NHL. I've I've loved working at MLS, my time at MLS for the last closest to 8 years, 7 years now, I think it is. So, I really enjoyed that time uh and all that off-air work does make, you know, it there are years where again, it's not so good cuz it's it's freelance work, so you never really know how much work you're going to get even from year to year. Um so, yeah, I mean, I there are years where things are okay and the numbers add up and then there are years where things are a bit tighter and things can be frustrating. And I said like my family and friends have always been patient with me through the ups and downs and have been supportive of my career. I think um that that as as silly as it sounds the most important thing. Uh and then the other big takeaway I always have for especially young people coming in because of the number of options that you have in what to add your, you know, put your attention into, like take again credit to Neil Gardner. Uh Neil got big on Twitter and it's been fun to try to watch him branch out into different things, but it's funny from medium to medium you find different challenges there. Like I decided a long time ago that I do not have the bandwidth for social media and that is probably through the years limited my growth. For sure. I could be way bigger if I was willing to be on Twitter uh you know, hour after hour, but I I just don't I can't I I tweet once for my personal account once every few weeks. Like I just I just don't have that in me. Same thing with Instagram. Like credit to Ivar and some of the other big ones on on on Instagram. Like they've popped off. My thing is just putting this mic in front of my face here and just blah blah blah blah. Like podcast was my niche. Then I jumped into YouTube, kind of went in on that. I do some writing as well. Um so, just Christian, to that said that that that all said, my advice is find whatever even in your niche where you want to go and and build something that is sustainable and consistent. So, consistency has been the name of my game. I know that for my audience, you're going to get at least a podcast from me definitely every 2 weeks, but generally every week. You get some kind of content from me every single week of the year, 52 weeks of a year, year in and year out. And that's what you know you're going to get from me. I'll have it up on the podcast feed, I'll have it up Patreon without the ads, and I'll have it on YouTube. And I know I can guarantee that. When it comes to adding additional stuff to Patreon or again, tweeting more or Instagram stuff uh or even specialty content or even bringing on guests week in week out, like I can't promise those things because again, there there's burnout, there's there's contacting people, there's all these different aspects of it. But what I can promise is what I know I can give you and what I can deliver. So, that's always the thing. It's it's it's always um not over promise, under deliver. It's the opposite of that. Um under promise, over deliver. Yeah, there we go. Under promise, over deliver. So, that's that's always what I try to do as well as somebody in, you know, breaking the media and and uh yeah, looking to do that. Just uh make sure [clears throat] what you take on is what you know you can handle. Um so, that's what I do. You know, I I don't I try my best. And what I what I fortunately enough was able to do, you know, 5, 6, 7 years into my career, I was able to start saying no to stuff where again, when I was 22, 23, I just said yes to everybody. And in hindsight, you know, I was doing doing games for such little money, you know, $25 for a game, uh whatever it was what was it? How many years ago? 12 years ago, 13 years ago. But you know, you just take it. You take it for the reps, you take it for the opportunities, you take it for the chance to to talk on the air and get those reps in. And so, that's what I did. Um so, yeah. Uh and that that would be my advice. Just, you know, take on what you can take on, especially if you're like having to work a 9-5. And again, I was working 40 hours a week and doing the pod. And so, you know, it's just, you know, I missed a lot. Missed a lot of weekends, holidays, whatever. Um anyway. Uh yeah, thanks for that question. Do do do. Um People don't understand the amount of politics in the squad. Ferran is Pedri's best friend and Lamine is Balde's good friend. Uh Lamine and Balde also share an agent, Jorge Mendes. Uh that's always fun. Uh Team ends, Dan, do you consider Lewandowski a Barca legend after these 4 years? Oh, man. I've been I don't know. I think that's one of those I might in the summertime have to have Levon come on cuz he always checks me better than anyone else, Barca Lev, uh on the the legend stuff. He really always gets on me. So, I mean, he's going to end up what? The fourth fourth or fifth all-time all-time leading scorer at the club? Like I don't know. I mean, the two ligas, a Copa del Rey or three ligas for him, right? Two Copa del Reys. I don't I feel like I don't know if that's an or the one Copa del Rey. I'm trying to do my math here. Three Spanish Super Cups. I Yeah, I don't know. I think he'll wind up winning like eight trophies, I think, or something. Um Yeah, it's hard to say. 4 years is just it's not a big sample size, though. Like I think he'll always though because his best years came at Bayern Munich, he'll always feel like a hired gun. And I don't think he'll ever feel like a Barca legend in his own right. That said, I just started talking about Thierry Henry. So, here's my cop-out answer, Team ends. If Thierry Henry is a Barca legend, then Lewandowski is a Barca legend, right? Like we're talking about guys who are legends of the game who still did some winning, still did big things at Barcelona. It's not like they were like, you know, after thought somewhere else. Like Marc Overmars was an Ajax legend, well, before all of his off-the-field nonsense and whatever. Um But he's like an Ajax legend, but I don't think he's a Not I don't think. He's definitely not a Barca legend. Like that's a fact. Whatever. Um Yeah, so it's yeah, caveats are if Thierry Henry is a legend at Barcelona, then so is Lewandowski. Um Yeah, a loose a loose a loose way of using that term. So, I like I'll just off the top of my head, like Lewandowski can be tough cuz like I don't even know where to rank him in the top 75. Like he's a top 40 all-time talent. Uh I mean, we have to like fit him into somewhere in the 30s, but I stil
