four virtue trophy games so far this season. Right, we're going to recap those draws, sorry, those ties in just a second. It's tantalizing, is it? Because Wembley suddenly hovers into view, Curtis, when we get to the round of 16. >> It is. And because once it starts coming into sight, you start seeing squads that maybe have set their sights on promotions in a certain season might start turning their eyes to Wembley. We saw with Peter B last year. Unfortunately, their league form wasn't that great, but they managed to get themselves a day out of Wembley and another trophy behind them. and that way of being able to get younger players into the side and test them given your experience where when you get these players coming into the site, it's a great way just to show you what they're capable of in front of proper crowds, isn't it? >> Yeah, sometimes it's the opportunity, you know, um they might not really get game time in the league. Um but when a manager wants to refresh the team a little bit, give others a chance. It's the opportunity to shine. And from the point of view of of what it means to a team come the end of the season, Curtis, um how how quickly do managers start prioritizing that given it's a busy Christmas, it's a busy new year, you get to spring, games are coming thick and fast. >> Um it's it's really difficult. It's down to that certain manager. I guess some managers really want to win something. Want that day out of Wembley. The fans will want a day out of Wembley. We saw obviously Birmingham went down to Wembley thinking they were going to have a double celebration. Um but Peterbr last year were the ones to win it again and you see how seriously Peter taken it. Um that was the manager that had won it before with Rexom as well. So maybe had a little bit more skin in the game with this this tournament. >> Okie dokie. Let's recap that draw from the northern section of the round 16 of the Virtue Trophy. Here are your fixtures tied to be played the week commencing January the 12th. Huddersfield against Rotherham. Doncaster Evers facing Fleetwood. Bolton Port Veil and Stockport against Harriuts. Some cracking fixtures there. Big teams as well left in the tournament. And as Curtis says and as Wes says, a great thing for getting experience as a younger player, but also getting that win on the CV at Wembley. Right, that's the northern draw done. Now for our southern region. We're going to do exactly the same again. Draw balls with numbers once away. The first ball showing the home side and the second ball the away side. Repeated until the four ties have been drawn. I'm basically explaining that for my benefit and you at home as well. Sorry for taking a long time doing that. Whereas once again you'll be joining the home side. Give it a spin please. [clears throat] >> Okay. So number eight. >> Number eight is Colchester or West Ham's under 21s. They play each other next Tuesday to decide that one. >> Number one. >> Number one. AFC Wimbledon won 5108 league one leaders Cardiff in the last round. Aaron Sassu scoring four goals. >> [clears throat] >> Number three. >> Number three, Luton. Winners back in 2009. A smile on the face of Curtis Davis, of course, for his former side. >> Number six. >> Number six, Swindon. Runners up in 2012. They beat the holders Peterbr in the last round. >> Number four. >> Number four, Northampton. They won all four virtue trophy games so far this season in cracking form in this competition. >> Number seven. Number seven, Walsaw runners runners up. Not runners, runners up back in 2015. >> I love the spin with just two balls left. [laughter] >> And we have number two. >> Number two, Bristol Rovers. >> They again were runners up in 2007. >> Number five. >> Number five, Plymouth runners up back in 2023. That's your southern section doing. We're going to recap those in just a second. Luton there in the bowl coming out. Curtis, a place you must have very fond memories of. >> Yeah, very fond memories. Um, mainly winning League One. Obviously, my debut was in this competition, but winning League One with them. Um, going on to be in team of the year, not in the Premier League team, but in the League One, team of the year. >> We can't clarify with a Premier League winner. >> In my first in my first season as a pro, so gave me that footing, gave me that understanding of football and what it mean to be a player. So, um, excellent there. And when we speak about young players, the likes of Finn Evans playing in this competition, scoring at 16 years old, becoming the club's youngest ever goal scorer, that's what it means. You know, you see him running over to his family, celebrating. Couldn't quite believe it, but yeah, it's an amazing amazing tournament and uh yeah, really good for for players coming through. >> Let's just recap what the southern part of the draw looks like. Ran a 16 virtue trophy. Color West Ham's under21s. That's the only remaining under 21 team in the tournament. They take on AFC Wimbledon. Remember these ties to be played the week commencing January the 12th. Luton, Swindon, Northampton against Warsaw, and Bristol Rovers against Plymouth. Well drawn, chaps. Well done. You can go and sit down and join Joby Mackenov, who's sat doing nothing for the last four or five minutes. But after the break, we're going to turn our attention back to the main game today, of course, which is Derby [music] County taking on Leicester.
