[music] Good evening. Welcome along to the stdio Olympico. All set for live coverage of Roma against Juventus on this Sunday night in Syria. You're in the company of Patrick Kendrick alongside former defender Manuel Pascali. Good evening Manuel. >> Good evening Patrick and a very good evening everyone. Yes, it's showtime here at the Olympico and what a night this is. Roma versus Juventus is a culture classic and this is a kind of last call for Spallet and his team because losing here could mean saying goodbye to next season Champions League campaign but there is still a lot to play for and Roma wants to overturn the recent trend against Laa Seor and get the three points they're missing against the Bakon since March 2023. Stirring a rendition of my solai never alone by Marco Konidi. In front of the kvasu tonight they dim the lights. There was a piano accompaniment and the fans were singing that particular anthem ac cappella was already a fiery atmosphere an emotional one here with 62,000 in tonight. A set out at the Olympigo and the atmosphere has just gone up a notch. [cheering] And we hope the action on the pitch can live up to this particular pre-match billing. Roma have had a full week off. That comes with finishing in the top eight of the Europa League. Juventus didn't finish in the same portion of the Champions League phase. And that's why they had a two-legged playoff tie against Galatas. Looked done and dusted when they were beaten 5-2 in Istanbul. They were then 3-0 up after 90 minutes against the Turkish side only to valiantly fail after extra time in another game marred by Aban Konedi sending off Lloyd Kelly on this occasion amid plenty of controversy. There's been a lot of that going around recently. We will have the chance to talk about all of this over the course of 90 minutes and more with Manuel Pascali and get his perspective on recent developments with officiating and V and the IFAB general assembly as well which took place over the course of this weekend. But our first and full focus will as ever be on the football. And Roma have a real opportunity here tonight. Not only to consolidate their own chances of qualifying for the Champions League, something they haven't achieved in eight years, but in doing so, they could also seriously jeopardize and damage the Bjani's chances of doing likewise. Bre is fit, which is a huge boost for Juventus. There's one Juventus team with the Brazilian in it. on quite a different side without him greeting his compatriate Wesley there. >> But you do wonder where the goals are going to come from for Juventus. Jonathan David hasn't been prolific or Penda. Neither albeit he did score in the reverse fixture and Kenan Yildes has started to go quiet as well. Hasn't found the net in any of his last seven appearances. Some solidarity shown there by Andrea Kambiaso towards Mikuel Dregorio who for most of this season was Juventus his number one. There's some doubt now cast over that particular position in the hierarchy with Matia Pereim not only playing against Galatasra but also starting this evening too. The usual word of warning from the match official Simony Sza to the two captains. Interestingly, it's Bremer who leads Juventus out tonight with Loatelli suspended. We have seen in the past Yild's skipper the side this season, but so much history to talk you through and so much on the line here in the here and now. 2018 was the last time Roma qualified for the Champions League. But having spent the [music] bulk of the season in the top four, Casperini's men are loathed to open the door to their rivals as we move towards the spring. Results have started to go ary for Juventus. And after just one point from the last three league games, the Bjani begin tonight's match in six, four points behind the Janosi under the lights in front of a packed out stio in the eternal city. It is couch classic. It is quite simply Roma Juventus. you in your [music] heart and say to you [singing] when you in your heart [music] you [music] The two most experienced bosses at this level in Syria currently. Casperini 625 games in Syria. If you add Spaleti to Vatally 575 unless my map deserts me. That's,200 games between them. We'll now leave you to enjoy the strains of Roma Roma Roma, the club anthem. Gasperini makes two changes to the side that brushed aside Cremon. A wrench is preferred to Gillardi while Picil is rewarded for his goal in that match with his starting birth in place of Saragosa. Bremer [music] standing skipper for Juventus tonight with Loatelli suspended. And our officials led by Simony Saltza. He'll be assisted in Lison by Marco Deello, the video assistant referee. And a pair of alterations for Juventus as well. Breer is fit again and he reclaims his place from Katy. Campaso comes in for the suspended skipper Manuel Loelli. West McKenna has been a very reliable source of goals recently. A new contract is on the table for the American Spali knows this ground very well, knows those club songs very well. But tonight, his only aim is to get three points for his relatively new team, Juventus, who are now playing catchup in the race for a top four finish. It does appear Italy will have four Champions League places in next season's competition. Roma currently occupy one of them. Juventus is desperate to join them next season. We're up and running at the Stadia Olympico. Manuel Pascali and immediately the Bjanedi on the front foot. Welcome back. >> Yes, Patrick. Good evening. Yes, the starting well here at the Olympico. I was watching the back five line for Roma. Wesley on the right, wrench on the left. The trio at the back is Silicon and Manini. They're doing well on the best defense in the Syria so far. Bizili, Christristant, and K in the middle of the park with Milan Pelle front. [screaming] Here's Cristante was on the score sheet as was Pizidi against Cremone last weekend. [cheering] Roma getting there three goals in the second half. Kefan Dam Juventus really missed and the deputy Italian didn't line up against his older brother Marcus. Yiz teasing it in was towards McKenna. David's underneath it and Pizidi's let it bounce up and away by Kristanta. It's Cook Mainers. Good work from Indica. >> Yeah, good good start from Juventus. Want to put Roma immediately under massive pressure. >> Kelly and Kulu combining two of the Juventus players who've been recently dismissed. Kulu controversially against in that 3-2 loss. Albeit the second yellow card in future will be able to be cancelled out by the V. Indic's found Kon. It's on for Pelleigrini who couldn't stretch. Yeah. To have it but good transition immediately and typical for Gasperini philosophy winning the ball back and immediately going forward. Good pass to Christristant is too heavy for the number seven. Rumor number seven always a threat of being in behind Marlin. >> Well, Shamos paleti has decided to ditch his pre-match press conference in the league. We heard from Kalulu in the leadup to this match last weekend ahead of the Komao game. It was Mano Loatelli who addressed the media and Gio Keini came out and spoke to the press pack following the 3-2 win over Galatasra which was in vain. Perin's given it away here to Pizili. Pizili on the drive. He's bent it and Pelleigrini on the followup just had to hit the target. Yeah, brilliant by Roma. Piz intercepted that ball kicked by Perin and immediately went straight into Juventus defense. Great shot. Good save by Perry and the rebounds. Pelle out of balance. Send it high. >> [cheering] >> Very bright start from the jalar rosi. >> That would have been a very popular way to score a goal with the two players in the side there both Romano and Romanista Rome porn Roma fans growing up. Still remains to be seen where Pellegrini will be playing his football next season. McKenna with the quick throw in behind. You can't be offside from that but Conc stopped by the referee's whistle. him on his side I think saying that Juventus took it from the wrong place. Okay, but did you see Wesley following Mckenni all through the park to the opposite flank where the number 22 was trying to attack in behind the surprise the jalorosi after all that it was a Roma throw as opposed to a Juventus one and that is part of the new laws that have been brought in by the international football association board I fab at their general assembly in Wales this weekend Not only are second yellow cards which lead to a red part of the scope now of V, there are other things as well as we look at Roma's big chance early on. >> Yeah, good chance. Bizil tried to place it, you know, into the far post. Good save by Perry and on the rebounds from just the sixyd box. Pelle set it high. >> Roma with a set piece opportunity here. Pelleigrini takes it to Ram away. [cheering] Wrench let it bounce and Pelleigrini watches it into touch. Kambazu in ahead of Wrench. Juventus never just tossed the ball away and Christa pokes it behind for a goal kick. >> Yeah, Patrick look like Cristant is playing in a more advanced position. Saragot is not in the team. Soule as well. So he's the man that look like he's in more advanced role compared to Pilian Kune as we can see from this camera. How much will fatigue be a factor for Juventus tonight? They played on Wednesday. They went to extra time. They played for half of that game because it was on the hour mark when Lloyd Kelly was sent off actually before then the 49th minute with 10 men and they've had a lot of matches recently where they played with 10 men. Kulu sent off against in Juan Cabal sent off in the first leg. >> How much of an edge will Roma have having enjoyed a full week's training? >> Yes, I think probably you know as as long as the game goes forward the Roma will be the more one. >> Marlin trying to make it stick. Culu clinging on to him. Hence why there was some appeals from the crowd more than anything for a foul. David Kon Pili doubling up on the Canadian. Manu Kon wrench stepping past Kambia. So this is Pelleigrini. Roma looking the stronger side at the moment. Wesley [cheering] away by McKenna. And because of Juventus's difficulties, the run of form they've been on, [cheering] a draw against Latia and then back-to- back league defeats against in Ko is the onus on Roma tonight to try and win the game. Would a draw be a better result for Juventus than it would be for the Chelaras? >> I think Juventus will go to try to win obviously this game. Yes, Roma considering the form they are on are the favorite at the moment considering they just played one games a week at the moment. They are the favorite to my eyes. But Juventus plenty of positivities against Galatazar. The reaction, the spirit. Pelleigrini wrench in towards Manchini who hooks it in towards Maron. Calmly done by Wes Mckenni. Jonathan David. Now Juventus in transition with Conc. The reason there's so much positivity surrounding Juventus in that display against Ganatasaray is McKenna finds Kambiaso. He's got David in support. Yield is on the move. David Yieldis. Excellent work from Deine Wrench. >> Yeah, brilliant defending by Ren. But good move this one by Juventus. >> Christante Kalulu there alongside Bremer. Now Kubainers finding Yildes between the lines. Kambiaso India took it away from him. But Juventus having trailed 5-2 against Galatasra in the first leg of their Champions League playoff. Then won 3-0 after 90 minutes against the Turkish side only for that particular factor to come into play in extra time when they were down to 10 men. Couple of goals from Kalatasay eventually knocking them out. But Spaleti has got them playing football and as Casperini said in the leadup to this match, he and Spaleti have a lot in common. They've always tried to get results by playing a certain brand of football. >> Yeah, interesting to see the move that Kambiaso just made. Big cut diagonal run to try to surprise the Roma defenders. Almost worked well. And you we can see from here Cristante is the one that is going to pick comb miners up when Juventus got the ball. >> What do you make of the decision to include Perin in place of diggorio once again? >> I think Dre Gregorio was was not having the best spell of his career. So I think it's a wise decision. >> Tam finds McKenna. Wesley made sure the ball didn't reach Concisaw. does now via Kenneers but there's a clash of heads between Manini and Kefan Teran. >> Yeah, I think after this big switch off play there is a collision in between Manini and the French midfielder. Not sure if this happened just so probably Manini didn't see to Ram you can see head of his head there sore one manini is wearing a mask as well. Nice individual battle in the middle of the park as well between two France internationals Manu Cornv Roma Kefren Terram of Juventus. Both players will be vying to make it into Dieran squad for the World Cup. You can see the big difference there between Roma last season and how they're getting on this campaign. Must be said that last season they began with Derosi, continue with Uric and eventually finished with Cladio and he performed a minor miracle to get them into the Europa League. They were still challenging with Juventus incidentally for Champions League football come match day 38. Roma got the win they needed but Juventus were also victorious in Venice. Good work there from Tam. He's pass Conair Kroni on the cover. Yeah, brilliant by Tam. He's got the legs. has got the energy to cause Roma problems especially when he start to drive the ball forward. Breer now Juventus's turn to enjoy a positive spell in this match. Kainers who was goalc scoring midfielder under Gaspirini during his Atlanta days he hasn't been able to show that same form for Juventus. One match notwithstanding he got both goals against Ganatasra in the first leg. There is talk of Roma potentially trying to recruit him in the summer. Calulu driving forward. McKenna in the channel. Kalulu still going here. Back for Conc Sao who takes it on and misses by a mile. Yeah, that's something that Kulu worked on. No, this driving the ball towards the Roma defenders. It's something brand new. No, for for Juventus, it's working well. But then it's curious to see here the great [cheering] pace shown by Turam going past his teammate in the French natural team. It's good to see Patrick to see Becky position. It's usually starting when Roma's got the ball out wide right. But when Juuve's possession is cutting inside like a proper striker going to play alongside the vid [cheering] >> and only one player has scored more goals for Juventus this season than Wes McKenna. That's Kenan Yield is on nine. McKenna has eight across all competitions. Four of those in the Champions League. Incidentally, [cheering] Pizzill didn't feature much in the first part of the season under Gasperin. He's seeing more playing time now. And a recap of some of how the rivals got on this season. Napoli left it very late to win at the benti against bottom side for Rona. David's won it back here. Terram on for Yaldes. He's got David in support. Yield wastes the chance. It is a corner. >> Yeah, great tackle by Indika. I think who's got the last touch. Poor ball lost by Christante. Too slow David from behind. Stealing the ball of him and here immediately vertical pass towards this. Couple of options went for the shot. No, I'm not I'm not sure if there is a deflection by Indika. It did look like that from the reaction of both players, but in the end it was just a miscue from Kenan Yieldis and that's been indicative of his form. He's not found the net since Juventus's stunning 3-0 win over the reigning champions Snapoli. Since then, Juventus have played eight times. Yield was featured in seven of those matches. He didn't play in the cup exit to Atlanta and he hasn't found the net since. And that's also perhaps one reason why Juventus now find themselves in sixth and only playing for Champions League football out of Europe's premier club competition out of the cop Italia too. And as often Kambaso does when Juventus is in possession. He's coming inside as a center midfield using his technical ability. [cheering] Gasparini was asked about Ko Mainers. He said he's had a loss to explain why he hasn't had the same impact in Chirin that he enjoyed in Perkimo. But Gaspellini also referenced the fact that he has seen the likes of Christ and Manchini with whom he worked under at both much more mature and better players. So progress is not always linear when it comes to player development. Yeah, I think lately showed that he's going slowly back to his best. >> Knees has found Yielders here taking on Wrench. Davids Kambiaso looked offside. Wrench wasn't sure. The flag doesn't appear. >> Yeah, brilliant by the Roma number two. But you can see that Juventus are doing well finding some solution especially in offensive phase and Roma looking like just bit struggling look here Kambiaso completely left by himself is playing him on inside the wrench here covering well Bremer >> [cheering] >> Kellu foul by Pilleon McKenna. [cheering] [cheering] Roma have had to get used to not finishing in the Champions League places. Not since the 201718 campaign have they finished in a position that qualified them for the Champions League the following season. Juventus rely on it heavily to balance the books and when the balance sheets were last published for these two teams the end of June 2025 they both made significant losses. Manu Conair with Christristante in support. Here's the captain now. Maron outnumbered in the middle. Cristante Bremer away. David's done well to control the header. And again, Kambiaso Juventus improvising. McKenna. Lots of black and white shirts forward. David left the ball which was meant for him. >> Yeah, the end product is missing at the moment for Juventus who are finding a bit of joy in transition. That's probably the plan as Palleti had before know preparing this match. It looked like he's working at the moment. Pretty similar financial results. Roma turned a loss of 54 million in the last season. Juventus some4 million worse off 58 million euro in the red. And that is why Champions League football has become so important. It's something that Max Ley, the current Milan boss, has been speaking about all season, banging the drum as to how much of a difference it makes for club's ability to compete. The problem is, as things stand, Interch have surely got one Champions League place sewn up. Milan left it late to win in Cremona earlier on today, but they're on 57 points. Napoli [cheering] also got their victory 53. Roma 50 at the start of play. Komao up onto 48 after beating Leche yesterday. The surprise was that Atlanta, Italy's last team standing in the Champions League were beaten by Saso after that stunning comeback victory over Dortmund. Manuel, if I had to ask you now, the first of March, four teams that would finish in the top four, who are they? >> Inter Milan, probably Napoli. The last spot will be hard to pick at the moment cuz Ko is is flying. But probably at the moment, I can see a Roma favorite. You mention Solo Batalanta in 10 men for 60 minutes. Marlon tracked all the way by Bremer. That was almost shades of watching Gaspirini Zatalanter of old. Albeit it was this time for Juventus under Spaleti Cryant. Rich manini for Pelleigrini. [cheering] Okay, good spell of possession by Roma so far. Even if they are going just sideways. >> Wesley, nice idea up the line for Chile, but Kulu was on his toes. Calmly done by Matia Perí. Kulu. Glass touches off Nicolo Pisili. That was dangerous cuz if K minus was going to win the aerial jewel, Kesa was in. >> McKenna's long throw is extremely long but a little wayward seeking out David Pelleigrini. Wrench running beyond it. Lovely ball there. Maron in the middle. Rechambazo stop the cross. Manchini Christristante wrench good work again from Kambiaso. Yaldes surrounded by red shirts that building out from the back for Juve
