Hello and welcome along to the latest of my GMS newsletters. Ben Jacobs with you. It's great to have your company. Don't forget subscribe and get all of this information straight in your inbox. Most windows are shut, but not Brazil. And we'll touch upon that particular part of the world in just a moment. I want to start though with Lewis Hall, new deal at Newcastle United with the official announcement imminent. Hall has fresh terms on a 5-year contract until 2031. It adds two years to his existing deal. And it was always going to be either extreme here. Manchester United liked Lewis Hall, but not the price. And there were points during the window where Hall was somewhat open to a move to Old Trafford. But key to this really is Mateusz Jasla and his pathway for Lewis Hall and his confidence in the fullback as well. And Hall was always likely, should the window shut and he was still a Newcastle United player, to sign fresh terms. And that is because actually in February and March, this deal in terms of the nuts and bolts was basically in place. And yet Hall put the brakes on in the early part of the summer to assess the situation. Eddie Howe departed, Jasla's come in, and it's not just Lewis Hall by the way. A number of Newcastle United players and staff, according to my information, really feel energized by Jasla's arrival. And Newcastle United have done some smart business as well. So Lewis Hall will stay at Newcastle United. Manchester United never bid in the end, and Hall will sign fresh terms keeping him at the club until 2031. There's no release clause by the way in this new deal. Now, elsewhere, Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United are in talks as well. They've been ongoing for quite some time about a potential extension in the existing deal that Bruno Fernandes has. There's the option for the club to trigger an extra year as well. And there was never really any credence in suggestions that Bruno Fernandes might move away, always fully committed to Manchester United and the release clause that he had for non-Premier League clubs had expired as we hit the end of the window. So, no chance of Turkish clubs or some that suggested Juventus coming in and signing the Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes always committed to Manchester United and now looking to continue where he left off last season and get a ton of goals and assists as Manchester United continue to challenge on all fronts. So, very positive as far as Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United are concerned. Manchester United are still working on a deal for Louie Page from Leicester City. Even though the window has shut, they can pre-agree, of course, or just work towards the winter market. Doesn't make a great deal of difference because in the original conversations that went all the way up to deadline day to try and sign the Leicester City player, Manchester United were always willing to either pre-agree or loan back. So, the pathway for Page has always been Leicester City this season, whether he just stays at the club or alternatively moves, but then ultimately finishes the season with Leicester City. And that's why when deadline day passed and Manchester United were not able to come to a financial arrangement with Leicester City, there's been no real panic and the talks are not over and yet Arsenal are there as well. Now, when Jeremy Monger left for Manchester City, Leicester City got 12.5 million and a similar valuation is there for Paqueta as well. Manchester United starting point has been a few million lower and now either an agreement could come in advance of the winter market or alternatively at some point in 2027. But Manchester United as I say are not the only club there, but for quite some time they have been considered the favorites with Paqueta open to the move. As promised, we move on to Brazil. A done deal first of all, Hakim Ziyech, former Chelsea player, to Botafogo for a two-year deal and that should actually be official by the time you watch this video. Then Richarlison, a fascinating story because the player is trying to terminate his contract with Tottenham Hotspur and he would be open in that eventuality to a move to Vasco. Vasco's perspective is that they're not going to match the 35 million pounds that Everton had on the table only now a few weeks ago, but they would be prepared to pay a fee. So, Tottenham either have to come down in number and Richarlison has already verbally agreed terms to go back to Brazil or the player pushes to become a free agent either through FIFA or maybe even a mutual termination with Tottenham. And if he gets his way, it could help facilitate a move and then he wouldn't be up against a race to try and get this deal done before the Brazilian window shuts. Tottenham's perspective is that even though Richarlison has been excluded from the Premier League squad, they ultimately want a fee as long as he's still a player at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. And from Vasco's perspective, that makes this financially difficult, but Richarlison wants the move to Vasco, and they continue to try and work on this deal. Now, speaking of Vasco, they actually made an offer to Raheem Sterling, who is a free agent at the moment, another former Chelsea player. My information is that Sterling is still assessing options, and as it stands, he's turned down Vasco. Sterling has had multiple opportunities both within England and outside, and as of now, still no agreement as he continues to take his time and think about his next decision in both family and football terms. But, Raheem Sterling, one of the most interesting free agents to watch, and again, just to reiterate, a free agent is not time-bound. So, even though windows have shut, they can sign for anybody even after deadlines have passed, and that is why, for example, Jamie Vardy, after the window finished, signed a contract with Burnley. Moving on to the Saudi markets, and this is really just a clarification because we're hearing loads of reports out there about high-profile players moving to Saudi Arabia, and I can confirm once again, the Saudi window is shut. So, there is no possibility of a contracted player free agents are different moving to a Saudi Pro League side before the winter window opens. Reports suggesting that the Saudi Pro League window is open through mid-October, that's wide of the mark. The Saudi window shut on the 6th of September, and that's why there was a big flurry of business in the 24 hours leading up to that deadline. In addition, certain names linked with Saudi Arabia, particularly forwards, are not that in demand even if we look forwards to the winter market. And the reason for that is because Al-Hilal have already recruited Ollie Watkins, Al-Ahli have still got Ivan Toney, Al-Qadsiah are happy with their forward options including Julian Quiñones, who was shortlisted for the Ballon d'Or, fantastic achievement. Al-Nassr have got Cristiano Ronaldo, and Al-Ittihad, even quite a while now after losing Karim Benzema, who first moved to Al-Hilal and then became a free agent more recently, their priority has been to try and add a wide attacker. And on deadline day, even though they didn't have to do the deal on that day, they signed Georginio Wijnaldum, an exclusive story, free agent after leaving Al-Ettifaq, a one-year contract with a one-year option. But, just to kind of dispel a few myths there, the Saudi Pro League window is shut. So, none of those big teams in Saudi Arabia can sign anybody until we reach the winter market. And then a final word on Gianni Infantino, I know it's not transfer news, but it's going to be very interesting over the coming weeks to see what happens. November the 18th is the deadline for a potential candidate to stand against Infantino at the next FIFA election. Infantino has said very clearly that he plans to battle on. Nobody as of now has come forward and said they are the candidate to go head-to-head against the current FIFA president, Victor Montagliani, the CONCACAF president, Sheikh Salman, the AFC president, both names touted. And Montagliani does have long-term aspirations to be the FIFA president, but in the short-term, he has to decide if he wants to stand again for CONCACAF re-election, or abandon that and take on Infantino. Maybe with a fair amount of UEFA support, as well as from CONCACAF. There's a lot of people in UEFA that want Nasser Al-Khelaifi to stand, but my information remains that the PSG president would be reluctant. And who knows, another name could come out the woodwork between now and that deadline. But the priority of those that are against Infantino from UEFA, CONCACAF, and the AFC is to hone in on one candidate, so ultimately the vote isn't split. And behind the scenes, a lot of federations and senior executives doing the maths to see whether they think, before a candidate is backed, they can get that one name to get to 106 votes. And Infantino is doing the same, because that's the majority of FIFA's 211 members. Now, today, the French Football Federation came out and said they are revoking their support for Gianni Infantino, following a series of other UEFA federations that have done that, including the English FA, for example. And this is another big blow for Gianni Infantino, but remember, it's one federation, one vote. So, a federation that is bigger in football terms is still ultimately counting for the same amount of votes. But when you get a federation like the English FA or the French Football Federation, and because of their standing and power within UEFA, they say they are not supporting Gianni Infantino, it can potentially persuade other federations to come out the woodwork and also do the same. And UEFA are pushing behind the scenes for a blanket revocation of support for Gianni Infantino, which would mean that any new candidate, if they do come forwards and stand against Infantino, could potentially get the block UEFA vote, and that is worth 55. And once again, 106 is needed for an individual to win the FIFA elections. So, that's going to be a story to watch between now and March as election. The deadline once again, November the 18th for a candidate to stand against Gianni Infantino. So, that's the latest from my GMS newsletter. Great to have your company as ever.
