It's been a record-breaking transfer window and we are here at 442 HQ to go through the best and the worst of it. To my left, Newcastle United fans/ Leads United enthusiast. >> Joe Donu. To my right, Crystal Palace fan/ Arsenal enthusiast. >> Knew that was coming. [laughter] >> Have you seen the he gets online? >> Yeah. Social. >> Yeah. It's very >> for being an Arsenal/Palace fan. >> I'm never posting about them ever [laughter] again. Let me just change one of my answers. >> Yeah. Quickly. Quickly. Right. We'll start with the best of the transfer window. Um I'm going to start with you Ollie. Best value. [snorts] >> Uh it was quite hard to find good value I thought in this window. Um so I've gone for Antonio Silva to Bournemouth for 25 mil. >> Yeah, about that. >> Which feels like for a promising young center back pretty good value. I think they managed to get that because he lost his place in the Benfica team last year under Mourinho. But he is still a really highly rated young defender. He's played for Portugal. It's the kind of signing where you think if he just does all right, they will definitely make that money back. So, I've gone for him. There are a couple of like honorable mentions, but I'll let you two answer first before >> I feel like we're going to say this about a load of clubs and I've said it earlier, but cuz Bournemouth did it, I trust it. >> Yeah, exactly. >> It's the same with Brian. >> Oh, they've done it. I don't know too much. I'll I'll trust him with it. >> Yeah. I think he he was quite sought after, I'm pretty sure. I remember >> at one point. Yeah, he was. >> He was being viewed as like a bit of a coup them getting him. I think that's good. like 25 million for a starting center back in the Prem is good value. >> It's basically free at this point. >> Yeah, it is. >> Joe, >> um what best value? >> Best value. >> I genuinely think Emmy Martinez at 7 and a half million. >> That was my audible mention. >> Okay. Okay. >> I do genuinely think that that is a reasonable fee for someone who immediately improves your your one of your key positions. I mean, we all saw that Fulham game which Chelsea had. >> True. >> You know, Robert Sanchez has gone on loan to Ko. Now, I think they've upgraded. They've got someone who, yes, he might not be the most well adjusted, shall we say, but he's a very good goalkeeper. He's a World Cup winner. He's accomplished. He's done it for several years at Aston Villa. He gets the move that he wanted, i.e., you know, to a big six club. >> Yeah. >> And yeah, I just think 7 million. I feel like the market for goalkeepers is really weird compared to the rest of >> positions. A video you actually did recently on 442 talking about why it's so weird. >> Yeah, it is weird. >> Goalkeeper transfer market. Yeah, I mean James Trafford's like the fourth most expensive goalkeeper ever and he's like 40 million quid which is mental. >> It's actually mad to think as well that Keer was like 72 million. >> Still the most expensive >> a long time ago as well. Not even recently >> which is crazy. Yeah, I had Martinez as honorable mention as well. >> Yeah, true. >> There was some good Jonathan Pierce lines on match of the day too the other day about Amy Martinez being a World Cup winner. He's just like eulogizing about him. Yeah, it was good. It was good content. >> It was classic Pierce. >> Yeah, it was it was so Jonathan Pierce. I've gone for a free transfer because I feel like there is no such thing as not a good value on a free transfer. Andy Robertson. >> Interesting. Interesting. That's not the free transfer I would have gone for cuz I have two on my honorable mentions list >> who Oh, let let me let me convince you of my position. Let me land [laughter] >> experienced. >> Yeah, >> clearly something that Spurs lacked in terms of being a winner mentality, Champions League, Premier League, everything. Uh Destiny Udogi is made a glass will never be fit all season. Jed Spence obviously at the time like Robertson you know signed in the summer it always felt like Jed Spence wasn't good enough at left back slash wanted to play more minutes and wasn't going to be happy being like part of the squad and Ben Davis kind I mean Ben Davis was injured last year. Robertson is better than Ben Davis by a long shot and it also feels to me like Davis is more of a center back cover. >> Yeah. So Andy Robinson again obviously if he doesn't do that much I can still point to the fact that he costs nothing but on a free transfer from Liverpool I don't think it's that bad. >> I don't think it's bad. I think it's he's certainly up there as someone who's value. I mean I was looking at um Geretska still only 31 to I think you're bringing in someone with real pedigree into a squad that is >> probably on the younger side now. It's effectively a whole new team. You're gonna be looking around the dressing room going, "Okay, who who do who do I know here who's a real winner?" >> Well, that guy because he just, you know, >> won everything basically. >> The only thing with that with them is the wages. >> Yeah. Well, that's that's the thing with free transfers, isn't it? >> You know, if you don't pay a fee, then you know, you can >> I reckon Gretzka must be on mega money. Not mega money, but a lot. >> No, but seriously, for Villa, like Bayern Munich aren't paying nothing. Like he would have been on at least 200k a week. >> And he would have had some lucrative offers, I'm sure, on a fre. You know what's crazy? In the last few years at Bayern, he's not been the same. Injuries, I get Pavlovich pretty much took his place from the squad. >> I feel like he's not the same Gretzka that we're thinking of. I get it. It is good on a free. Again, pretty much no downside. >> I'm not sure. >> He's not on a long contract. >> Not sure about it. >> So, >> yeah. >> I think we the way you're thinking about Gretzka, I'm thinking about >> about Andy Robertson. Yeah, you might be right. You might be right. Yeah. Yeah. Who Who's your other shout? Have you got anyone else? No, it was Emmy Martinez and Antonio still. When you thought when you said I mean I'm so biased obviously, but when you said um free transfers, I do think Oscar to Palace isn't bad. >> I feel like we've spoken about this. I think that's quite good. >> That's that really flew under the radar cuz it was during the World Cup. He was in the Europa League team of the season last year. I think on a free Villa wanted him as well actually. >> Comes from Barcelona. So, you know, he's Yeah, he can play across like five different positions. I think he'll play a lot for us this year actually. >> Good shout. Uh right, next one. Best potential. We'll start with you. Um, I'm going with Christo Solace or Mambadu Sangare. Um, >> Solace is interesting. >> Solace. >> Yeah. I just feel like you don't put up those numbers even though they were in lesser leagues that he has done previously with is it Fortuna, Dusseldorf. >> Yeah. >> And and Club Buger. >> I just feel like you don't put up those numbers without actually having >> the the skills. >> He was in the Champions League as well. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I just think the the platform that he has at Arsenal, it's like I think Anthony Gordon will just get goals and assists for fun at Barcelona because he's going into a much better team. I think the same with Solace at Arsenal. Um, provided he can stay on the pitch and not get hooked at halfime. Yeah. Um, >> you know, he's in that first game against Coventry was pretty electric. Yeah. um there'll be you know peaks and troughs in his first season in the Premier League but I think potential wise for the fee that they've paid and to potentially lock down that left hand side which has been a problem for them >> I think it's it's really good and then Sangari at Brenford like we were saying earlier if Brenford is signing someone for big money >> I just think oh look look you guys know what you're doing it's data backed um you know he's been very good in France previously he's he's a Premier League ready player >> um And again that was just backed up on his debut against Spurs as well. So um I think potential wise both of those will will end up looking like smart pickups. >> And you >> I've gone for like kind of a boring one in Buaddi to City. I just think that he I know the value I don't think he's he's like 85 million. Not saying it's like a great value signing but >> 18 he just has all the all the abilities to be like their next Rodri for god knows how long. I think you look at the you kind of look at Enzo at Chelsea as like a blueprint of like you can sign someone for that mega money they can contribute loads for you and you could still sell them for you know so much money. So I just think that's I really like that fit at City. I just think it's like perfect along with Anderson. You kind of have that like a little jewel >> potential though if they reach their height together they'll complement each other so well and they could just be unstoppable for the next few years. I think Anderson actually pops up negatively in my uh >> really >> in my little little bits later on. I'll save it. >> I'll save it for now. >> Wow. Controversial. >> Is Brady worth that much? PreWorld Cup is he worth that much? >> Possibly not. >> But City City they could spend it. >> Yeah, true. I just hope for him it's not like one of them had a good World Cup. >> I think he was he was s before that was good. Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. I mean he he's been on the radar for quite a while. Was he on a boys a bit special episode? >> He was actually in the relaunch at the start of last season. He It was um Badi, Max Darman, Rio Gamoa, and Tyler Dibbling. Um looked >> down, that was such a good run there. >> Fall's not [laughter] bad. Um but yeah, I think Batti was on the up and up. Like he's been ready for men's football since he was practically like 16. >> I think he's ready for I mean the World Cup showed he's ready for the Premier League. Um, yeah. I mean, I had him for I had Anderson and Batti for one of the next sections. Um, because yeah, I just think I've got rationale for it. I'll save it. >> Okay. Yeah, you save it. >> What's Tyler Dibling up to? >> Still Everton. >> Still haven't. Yeah. >> Was nearly like 40 million, wasn't he? >> Something like that. >> He's going to play a lot this season. [laughter] I get the feeling. >> Hit him Brennon Johnson on the right wing. >> Let's get on to Everton's squad a little bit later. Um, mine's James Trafford. >> I like that. >> Yeah. >> For potential. Yeah, I do like that. >> And I think it's it's it's a dual a dual what's it called? Double-edged sword. >> Oh, no. That means there's bad thing, doesn't it? >> What is it? >> Two good things. >> It's a win. >> It's not even a sword. >> It's a win-win. >> It's [laughter] a It's a spork. It's a spoon and a both good things. >> James Trafford has joined a team who if they avoid relegation over the next few years, which I think they will do. I think he's quite good. He's stepping into the Pikford role for both club and country >> in a way where I think nobody has questioned Jordan Pitford and the fact he's been in a relegation battle for like six out of those nine years. >> Yeah, >> brilliant for England. Doesn't put a foot wrong. >> Nobody would have a word of it of replacing him. >> Doesn't look like he's going to be replaced. Um I think I've got it here. The next World Cup um he will be 36. He'll be 34 the next Euro Pigford. I'd say he'd be at the next Euros at 34. >> I think Trafford will take a spot pretty soon >> for the Euros or the World Cup. >> For the Euros? >> Oh, I don't know. At 34 for a keeper, I think he's >> I think two full two full seasons though. >> He's Well, I know. That's what I mean. So, I can see him taking over Pigford because they're in a team big if stay in the Premier League. >> They should. I actually think it sounds a bit basic, but they won't be protected as well as top goalkeepers are in with better back fours in front of them. Like Pigford has had the opportunity to make amazing saves for Everton, get them out of a hole >> because they're not that good. >> And I just think there should be a collective agreement that nobody signs James Trafford. Just let him play 38 out of 38 games at least >> every season. Let him develop and he'll be ready to replace P. >> Yeah, I hear it. I don't actually know if that's an agreement everyone has. >> I'd love to believe it. >> I'd love to believe knowing how exactly >> because how many times do like the young English best players in every position get bought by the big teams. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> It never happened to Pigford. >> Maybe it's a case of goalkeepers being a law unto themselves again. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Also, as honorable mention, I had Victor Munos at Liverpool. >> He looked good the other day actually in the Forest game. >> Yeah. >> I I I knew nothing about him before he came to the Prem. The other reason I think he's quite good is because >> Liverpool haven't solved the right wing position. >> No, cuz he's going to have to play. >> He's going to have to play. And I think he's going to play more and get more minutes than obviously if Salah was there, but if they'd signed like a massive right winger, I don't think Munos plays as much, but I do think he does now. >> Good potential. >> I agree. >> Good potential. Um, right. The best slashmost needed. >> Interesting one here. Actually, we'll start with you, Dra. I actually went for Anderson and Batti because it's it's a transitional period for Man City now. New manager, you know, Rodri's gone, the squad has had a bit of surgery to it. I think getting someone in or well getting two players, three players even now um in that basically just consolidates and solidifies your midfield, that's a nice spine to work around. It's a team. It's it's a midfield three or you know, in Anderson Batti's case, a pairing that you can build around. >> Um they're not all going to have to play at the same time. um including Enzo Fernandez in this as well. And I just think it's it anchors you and when you lose arguably one of the world's best players in that pos well probably the world's best player in that position, Rodri, >> they they just did what they needed to do and they went and spent you know 300 million or whatever it was >> on on three players that are you know could potentially >> be Manchester City's midfield for the next 10 years in in certainly Anderson and Batti's case. >> Okay. interesting for you. >> Uh I did I had Emmy Martinez but also Laqua to Chelsea. I think they really needed like a senior center back who just has experience and I don't think he's going to change the world at Chelsea. I stand by the fact that having watched him at Palace a lot, he's not an elite defender. Someone like Gay is a better defender than he is, but he's such a leader. He's so durable. He's got loads of years ahead of him. he could just play as that central center back for Chelsea for the next like five or six years and just be steady and they had no one steady at the back to partner Cwell. I think that will be a really good signing for them this season. >> Great for someone like Ashen Pong to learn from as well. >> Exactly. Yeah. >> Just mold yourself on these two players. >> Yeah. Yeah. It's just it works so well and also it wasn't bad value like 50 mil. I mean it's not >> it's basically like the it's that's the the flaw that you have to pay for a Premier League ready player these days. when it's when you're going club to club in the Premier League, 50 million is like >> it's pretty part of the course. >> He's probably one of those signings that I could not have less concerns about fitting in if I tried. >> Yeah, exactly. >> He just he'd just put on another kit and be like I'm still the same. >> He he will definitely work. >> Definitely work. >> Yeah, that's like 100% guaranteed to work. >> Um I've gone with Carlos Ble >> to United most needed. My mate text me the other day after United's whole uh debacle on the first day and was like somehow we've sold Casemiro and got even more immobile in the field [laughter] >> which is a very harsh indictment on Tielemans. So Bale not only is very good at being mobile getting around a lot of jewels one in center mid >> then also by kind of doing that protects the back four as well. And I think yeah, for a team so front heavy, I actually I I think that's really good. So yeah, I'm I'm going for Belaba. Um, best deadline day signing >> pick of the whatever the hell happened yesterday. >> Best deadline day signing. Um, >> including the early hours of this morning, even though it's another day. >> Yeah, [laughter] Ollie's probably going to hate me for this, but I I do think Malik Fafana because the fee if if Fafana had gone for 60 million >> Yeah. I think people would have would have gone it might be a bit of an overpay but it's probably going to come out in the wash as you know its value. I think 30 million for Sunderland to to get him is is really good business. >> Just the surrounding stuff about yesterday was such a bad list. >> Why do you think he chose Sunderland Palace? >> Because his agents have got more money from Sunderland. That sounds like what what happened. That sounds like from all the French reporting that was >> they're all like it's they're kind of saying it's not for father's fault but he's just so badly advised and it's basically his agents were just playing Palace and London off against each other and just trying to drive their feet up the whole time. He didn't [music] know what he wanted to do and he chose London because they offered his agents more money. >> Can you imagine being Leon in that situation? You need to raise basically 100 million by the end of June next year. Obviously deadly on day in August being in September rather being one of the last opportunities to really earn that and you've got someone playing you know silly games I know >> um and you're like we need this 30 million quid like there was a point if I just say Leon there was a point where it was just yeah with Arsenal earlier in the day >> well yeah but they offered him to Arsenal as well >> I think they I think Arsenal basically looked at the situation that Leon had financially lowballed them and Leon were like come on like we're not actually going to entertain that okay And >> the thing the thing with that is and I'm saying this as a as a Palace fan, we have his ma star who's got a lunatic agent as well. It would appear like it just feels like else is an amazing football signing, but you're just like in two years time this could be a real headache where Rose has talked about that out of the primary doesn't want to be there anymore. >> There definitely is that and and you know I'm not saying that Sunderland's not the nicest place in the world, [laughter] >> but you know um you know there might come a point where he thinks maybe I should have gone to Palace instead. PS is former manager as well thrived at Leon. >> Yeah. >> But no, I think as as value >> is great value. >> I think it's great value. Yeah. >> My best deadline day signing is heavily linked to Fana and it's also incredibly biased, but we signed Dario Aorio from Micheland instead of Fana. >> Um and he was actually someone who we wanted or we touted as an LS replacement when we were going to sell a Lise to Chelsea and then it didn't happen. Um he's just something that we don't really have in the squad in terms of a left footed right winger who can play I think he really fits that number 10 ro also can play wing back his like watching some of his goals he scored yesterday like >> this guy's a joke and he's al it's a loan with an obligation for like 25 million quid >> in Chile so highly rated as well I think he's played like 20 25 times for the national team already 22 >> it's it feels like a signing that we've not made in a while where it's like oh like this guy could
