as former Man United manager Eric Tenhar had some very interesting things to say this week. He claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo let the team and me down, mainly after refusing to come on as a sub against Spurs after being dropped against Chelsea in the previous game. Uh Tennag added that he felt United wasn't the highest priority for some players and he felt he was let down by the board. He also said he wanted to sign Frankie Deong, Harry Kane and Declan Mis was against the side of Scott McTominay to Napoli but the board didn't keep their promises. What do you make of TennRo coming out and making all these comments? >> I mean, listen, I I'll address the Ronaldo situation um in a bit, but I've heard that so many times from different managers. Well, I was in the mix for him and I didn't get him. Like Harlem's the one in it. Everyone said I I knew Harlem cuz Solar said, didn't >> I told them about >> Yeah, Harlem when he was 12. >> It's all very well. >> I know. So, whenever managers say that I'm like whatever the the Dong one, I get it cuz Man United were chasing him for such a long time and he flirted with it for a bit, but all all he wanted was a new contract from >> Yeah. Who's playing with main? >> Declin Rice. I think he was always going to always going to go to >> always going to go Arsenal, >> right? And Hurricane Kane, the Harry Hurricane is the one I've looked at for Manchester United and I've often thought you you probably at one point could have got him and he would have been the Mr. striker for the next six, seven years, Harry Kane. So that one I get. So I I understand where Tenno was coming from, but we we often hear this all the time and I'm like, listen, you didn't get him and Bye. Wenger tried to get him when he was It's like come on. >> Yeah. >> Do you know what I mean? Um, but the Ronaldo one was what is what surprised me more than anything is the fact that he said about his training levels that he just wasn't up to the like and he and Ronaldo was telling other players to save your legs when it comes to training and telling like no I need you at this level to be able to play for me. So that surprised me because whenever you speak to people that have obviously worked with Ronaldo said that he's the most professional player there is. He's always he's always in the gym. He's always stretching. He's always working hard. He's always trying to improve. >> So when that came out I was a bit like that's a little bit surprising. I didn't expect that. But part of me and it's it's bizarre because he's got such a loyal backing Ronaldo like I knew as soon as I I read this this morning 90% of the comments were going to be who [clears throat] is this manager to talk to Ronaldo like that. But at the end of the day regardless how great you are. >> If you're the manager, you're the manager. You you you deserve respect, right? >> Yeah. You you deserve respect. Now, if the if the ten says that Ronaldo is not up to the level fitness wise um and he just couldn't play in his team, then you can't hammer the manager for that. He's trying to get results. I mean, it didn't go that well for him. I mean, he won two trophies and when you look back at it now, you go, "Ain't that bad? That ain't bad." That >> m come on. >> I I I'll be honest. I do get sick and tired of managers that are paid handsomely by the football club and then coming out with all literally throwing them under the bus. >> Well, I don't think he threw him under the bus. I think he just he obviously there's obviously a time frame where he can't really say anything and obviously that that time frame has now elapsed. >> Yeah, but I just think it's rude. >> Why? Because they paid you like handsomely above and beyond, right? You probably got a massive payoff when you were fired, right? You No, if someone I get what you're saying, but someone askked him the question and says at Manchester United A, B, and C, he's got every right to answer. Now, I don't I don't think Tennog would have gone out there going, "Who wants an interview? I'm about to." >> No, I know that. I know that. But I I do think sometimes like when when managers get a payoff because they've been sacked. I do think part of that payoff should be they sign a what is it? >> NDA. NDA. >> Undisclosure agreement. >> Yeah, he seems to know a lot about that. >> Yeah, >> that rattled off the tongue. [laughter] >> Um I do think they should sign an NDA. No. Why? Because I just this doesn't help the club that used to give you a wheel. >> No, but I get that. But sometimes >> coming out with stuff like it's like me going I tried to sign Pelle. I tried to sign Maradon. The club but I hate that part of it because as I just said there I can't stand when they come out and say that and go well I told you about Messi when he was 10. If you listen to me I hate all that but >> what what I think is is right and why you can't sign an NDA is that I think sometimes >> why can't you go why can't you sign an NDA? >> When managers leave football clubs right most of the time you get sacked. It's very rare you get to walk away. Wenger walked away >> with a huge payoff. >> Yeah. But you get sacked because ultimately you've been good enough and then everyone everyone has a comment on it. We talk about it. The press write about it. Players have this say and you almost get battered in the media. >> Doesn't matter. >> Then it does [laughter] if if you got okay if I got sat from talk sport obviously that that can't people champion >> but um if they gave me like5 million pound >> part of that do you want 5 million? Yeah. Okay. You can't talk about >> No. Because there you go. Give me money. >> No. If you're if you're then trying to get another job, right? >> Yeah. >> And everyone else is slagging you off, you got every right to come out and go, "Oh, I don't care how much you're paying me. You got a reputation that upholds." >> Okay. Look at like Liam Rs, right? When he left Chelsea, he didn't have a great reputation when he left Chelsea. >> No. >> Now he's smashing it in France, right? >> So, it's sort of irrelevant what he would come out and say about but his reputation was damaged. >> No, but if someone comes out and says to him about his Chelsea situation, I'm sure he but he's not he wasn't that long ago, but I'm pretty sure he will come out and say something when the time's right. >> What I'm saying is his reputation was damaged. >> Yeah. So it's sort of irrelevant what he says like everyone not everyone but people would look at that and go well I don't think he performed that well but he's still got another job and he's still doing really well it's almost irrelevant. >> No I I I haven't got no issues with managers coming out afterwards because a lot of the time they get sacked they get absolutely hammered and they've got no voice to kind of back their call they got millions in the bag and never have to work all about just having the millions in the bank. Listen, all these guys in professional football are wealthy, but but they still they still get bothered by >> but what's I don't see what the problem is by saying to a manager, you can't talk about your time here because we're giving you8 million. >> No, no, no. >> So, you own a football club, right? I'm your manager. >> Yeah. >> And for whatever reason, I don't know why, but you've decided to sack me. >> Yeah, cuz you've been crap. >> Okay. I've been crap and and part of my payoff is£10 million. >> And then I go, you know what? I spoke to Darren Bent, the owner. He's useless. He wouldn't back me. I told him to get these plans. That's fine. But >> but you just give me 10 million. You're happy with that? Yeah. I've moved on. I've sat you [laughter] cuz I listen at the end of the day it's my fault because I've hired you. You've not been good enough and I've had to pay you off. >> But when you when you hire me go here's a contract by the way when we if we sack you sign it. You're going to >> No, I get it from the football clubs. But I think managers when they leave football clubs should be allowed to kind of say what happened behind the scenes. >> But like know for instance, right? If you're if you're my I'm your manager. >> You're my manager. >> Like so you you're the man. You're the owner and I'm the manager. >> I own goldf, >> right? And then I come to you and say, "Listen, I need this player, this player, this player." And you turn around and go, "No, you have you having these three players. So I want Harry Kane, >> Declan Rice, and Dong, right? >> And I get three a lot lesser players." And we start to get bad results, even though I wanted those top players. >> Yeah. >> And then you fired me because the results are not great. Even though this has been my my list, >> of course I get fired. I'm going to come back and go, "Well, listen, at the end of the day, I wanted these players." No, you're not, >> but the manager told me, the owner told me no, and he wanted these players. But the pro the problem with that is the club will never come out and go right we heard Tennog's comments today on talk sport >> the the young one load of rubbish the rice he was never coming and Harry Kane we didn't have a chance >> that's fine but I think Tog should be allowed to say these things >> I don't >> I do >> go on Eric [laughter] >> I I like it >> I think it's terrible >> why you think it's terrible >> I just told you because he's just taking obvious amounts of money out the club keep your mouth shut >> you weren't good enough so you got to s There might there might be reason why. >> It doesn't matter. Sell grapes. >> No, I think she'd be to come out and say >> no. 10R. Keep your mouth shut. You got 10 million pound away from 10. Keep talking. >> No. All right. Well, we'll put it out there. >> Hey, what if Joe can we get 10 on this show? >> But you can't shut him up for a lovely one now. [laughter] >> 03717234. When a manager gets sacked, >> you know, Ruben's coming next, right? You know, you know, >> I'd love to have 10 minutes on the phone with that charlatan. >> No, but you know he's definitely going to be speaking. Of >> course he will. >> See, you call him a Charlotte on radio. If I was him and like I was is AC mass he's got bigger things to worry about. But I was out of work and people are slagging me off. I'm like no absolutely not. I'm about to come out and start talking to everyone. >> Yeah. But not if the club are clever enough to get him to sign NDA. >> And no managers doing that. >> But some managers say nothing. >> Yeah. Some do. >> Some managers keep their mouth shut. >> But some don't. >> Yeah. But I don't like that. >> I've got an issue. >> I tell you what, if it was your club, you would if got the bullet, >> right? Who's the manager before? >> Astonry. Who know? Right. If in between jobs he come out and go you know what Arsenal Wolver a joke I asked for them for the the whole club's internal I don't know what they're doing you wouldn't sit there and go that's fine no I'm ask fans I'd hate it >> it no but I'm be hating it from a fans perspective but as a professional >> as I am let's take calls in it there's no football fan that will think it's okay after you've been sacked you've been paid off to come out and slag off the club >> none of that okay well Martinez is being paid currently and he's slagged off the board is that right >> doesn't help mate If you get if you're married, right? If you're like 22. No, no. If you're married in 22 and then your girl, you got a divorce and she come out a year later and went and she got remarried. Oh, he got another job before got married and she let me tell about Bendy. He's terrible at this. He was terrible at that. He was horrible, man. You go, why are you doing that? You've moved on. What are you talking about that for? I gave you 5 million pound settlement. >> It depends though. No, it depends if everyone else is slagging off and I'm about to come out and defend myself. >> Yeah, you that's what I'm saying. You don't. You're the football club, so you don't. So, >> she might want to defend >> for5 million pounds. >> Yeah. If I've slagged her off. >> No, you haven't. She's slagging you off. >> No, no, you don't understand. >> He was a terrible ass never listen to me. Yeah, I've got every right to come and defend myself. >> I know, but the club don't. You're the club here. They don't. >> Well, they can do. But I don't I don't see a problem with it. >> Okay, we'll take calls in it. You're you're alone on this. Okay. >> Cuz if it's your club, you wouldn't like it, >> would you? If it was our you wouldn't like it. If it was un if I could see that there was turmoil at the club and he came out and addressed as >> he's making up lies though. >> He's not. I told you get Declan Rice and and Harry Kane. >> He might have done that. >> Well done. Good work. I told you to get him back. I told him to get I said Glazer. If he said to the Glazers and said Jim listen there's a chance I've spoke to his representatives Harry Kane wants to come but Spurs want 150 and they go now we're already giving you 80. That ain't 10 fault. It's got to be realistic. >> No realistic is paying 120 for Harry Kane. >> But you're just making numbers up that sound like it's worth >> 03717234. Is it okay for a former manager to effectively throw his former club under the >> or current players that play for your football club? I just slagging off everyone. >> Yeah. Okay. Yeah. 03717234. By the way, if you are Eric Ten, you're banned from I love you, Eric. >> I thought you phoning up. >> Be nice, wouldn't it? >> No. >> Should we go the phone lines? 03717234. We're talking about whether or not it's okay for former players or managers, but in this case, Eric Taravas come out >> or current >> and slagged off the club. >> Yeah. Martinez slag off the club. >> So, he might be lying. We don't know if he's lying. Who? Eric Tenar. I said go and get declared. Oh, is that why he got sacked cuz they didn't get him? Absolute shenanigans. Danny's a May United fan. Daniel son. >> Hello, mate. Hey, how you doing? >> I'm good. How are you, my friend? You well? >> Yeah, I'm not too bad mate. Finish work done. So, >> what do you do? What do you do for a living? >> I make hydraulic hoses. So, uh like technician for you cranes, JCBs, anything hydronulic. I do the hoses, the components, anything like that. Nice. Yeah, it sounds better. >> All right. I was trying to the two Ronnies gag where he goes if what is it you got? Not four candles, the hoses. What does he want for roses? I'll tell you what, Joe. Let me write that one down. Joe, let me write that one down. Bloody hell. Say that again, please. >> That's the two Ronnies. >> Say again, though. >> That's the two or four candles. >> The four candles. >> Don't stag off the two Ronnies, mate. That's classic. >> What else is it? What else did you say? >> You're going against two. >> No, you What did you say, >> Danny? What would you like to say? [laughter] I've got Kelly Mont. >> No. So, no. Basically, I think I understand what you're saying, Andy. Look, when it's your own team, like we don't want to hear it. But the reality is Man United's noise is much louder than most other clubs. >> Yeah, that's true. >> And and for the last 10 to 13 years, we're all curious though why this is happening regularly. Why are we eating managers? Why are we going through them? And I do think he has a right to come out and and say some of these things. I mean, this is to the man that got us three cup finals, won two of them. He beat a good Man City side with with Pep, FA Cup final, massive victory. They obviously promised him more than what we say. They flew out to our bea whilst he's on holiday with his family to give him an extension for a contract. So, they told him, "We will offer you more players. We trust you. We'll back you." They didn't. Now, we know the final season it wasn't great. I'm not saying we should have kept him, but the way he was treated wasn't great. They obviously told him a pack of lies and we are a circus and he's come out and proven that. Look, so we do know. >> I get I get all that. I get all that. But the fact that we've given him a substantial amount of millions of pounds about money, mate, >> do do you think that he maybe should have um a little bit of class about him and and not talk about the negative stuff that happened? Well, maybe you do. I just think if it was me giving him all that compensation or paying off his contract, whatever you want to call it, I'd be devastated if one of my former employees come out and >> get me Dong there spoke negatively. >> Yeah, I do. Look, so there's there's two sides to that. A first of all is Yes, I think. Yeah. But B, he had been quiet for well over a a year now. When the noise is so loud at Man United, he must get questions like that every single day. Wherever he goes in a corner shop, the market, the >> the corner shop, you think Eric Tennard goes to get some groceries. >> 7-Eleven. Might go 7-Eleven. [laughter] >> Well, he's still human. And then >> you got smart shop. >> You got any cucumbers, please? [laughter] >> But wherever he goes, he's going to be said, "What happened at Man United? Why didn't he work at Man United?" >> He's made things worse by talking about it. Well, not now because now when it goes to the market, he could he could say, "Hey, now go now go read the [laughter] paper." >> Go. >> Yes. I ain't got no issue. >> That's the two Ronnies. Not that. That is classic stuff. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Well, you just a clip from the office. >> Yeah, the two Ronnies. Classic. I mean, Jack Jack was three minutes late. [laughter] >> I got time for one more. >> Yes. Joe Joe says he couldn't say anything because again, Jack was talking in my ear. Hello. Oh jeez. Hello, Chris. >> Hello. Hello, team. How are we getting on? Okay, >> good man. How are you? Yeah, all good. Yeah, all good. Just on the way home from work. >> Oh, nice. Okay. What do you do for a living? >> I work in health and safety, so I make sure the last caller does his job properly. >> Oh, you know each other then? >> No, not [laughter] a bloke a bloke on Monday at Talkport used a chair to get on top of a counter to fix a telly. Is that allowed? That was at Talkport, by the way. Is that allowed? >> Not at all. >> No, not at all. I'd be uh I'd be reporting to the health and safety rep. >> Yeah. was found. He just reported it to up the country. So yeah, we're not for that. >> What do you mean? Was at least he didn't pay me£8 million pound to keep my mouth shut. >> No, go on 10. >> What do you make of the 10 arc stuff? >> Um, so I think it was going too deep into it. I think it's You think morally given the example you made before about the marriage? >> Yeah. >> It does no one any benefit by him coming out. I think if anything it makes him look worse. >> When a relationship breaks down about anything, everyone understands that it's a breakdown between two parties. So like like you said, United's not going to come out and go, "Yeah, but you said this." So actually, it just makes him look worse. Like no one thought it's all Ted Hog's fault. Everyone knows that United and any club and any relationship breakdown has got also got a part to play. So it doesn't benefit anyone. And I think the fact he's come out to talk about individual players, it's just it just makes him look bad if I'm honest. >> Good call Chris. Well done. >> Yeah, really cool man. That's one. Yeah. >> Why you taking off Chris? Now Chris was a good call. Spoke very well. >> You a really good call. >> No, mate. What's the matter with you? >> 10 m. I like it. Tell letting us let let people know the truth goes to Real Madrid proper club. >> Okay. >> And then you're left and then you you pick up the pieces. >> Yeah, that's fine. And he comes out slag off. That's what he does. But he won't Premier League champion. [clears throat] >> I hope you don't win it this year. Uh still to come.
