Alex Cook is here as well. He spent all week telling you Landre Martinez was spot on for having a go at his bosses, which is no real shock really. Uh because this from a man who once sent a four paragraphed email to the Talkport finance department about how they slowly reimbured him for a Greg's Cheese and Beans bake. He loves his expenses, that fell. >> Um Landre Martinez, let's start with him. Um released a statement. Might have been easier just to write sorry, not sorry. Um Gabby, he won't play Sunday. Or will he? Well, he says, doesn't it at the bottom of the statement that, you know, he's all clear to play, isn't he? That it's um case closed. What what I seeing, I think that's Michael Carrick's decision. If he thinks Manchester United got a better chance of winning the game against Leads, a big game, you know, the Royal Routine between both clubs. If Martinez is going to make Manchester United get a result, then you play him. >> And they will play him if they think that he is the best that they've got on offer. And he is really, isn't he? >> Yeah, absolutely. You need your experienced players in the cauldron that will be Ellen Road. Obviously, he says in the statement that a line has been drawn under it. Club sources have suggested the same. I think he has been fined, although they won't admit that publicly. But the wording is really interesting because he does apologize, >> but he apologizes for the timing of the rant as opposed to what he actually said. And I do think that um a lot of ex players have missed the point with this because they're pointing to the fact that Martinez is not having the best season. has obviously scored goal against Fulham was definitely a fault for Dominic Sanki's equalizer in the Tottenham game. But I think we're focusing too much on the messenger as opposed to the message itself because we broke the story on Talk Sport the morning after the rant that actually he's not the only senior player in that dressing room who's frustrated with the way that the club is being run. It wasn't an emotional outburst. It was premeditated. A lot of the players from what I'm told knew that at some point he was going to voice this opinion. So, I think we should focus on the message as opposed to the fact that it's Martinez who is delivering it. >> Because two things can be right at the same time, can't they? Because Lissandre Martinez was right with what he said. He he was just maybe the wrong messenger in the wrong room at the wrong time. Every Manchester United fan has been saying this in the pub since August. Martinez broke ranks, exposed probably one or two fractures in the dressing room, unveiled the playing staff's concern about what was going on above him, and he did so in a Champions League broadcast interview. Not ideal scenario, but clearly the fine is for timing, not the content, because nobody at Carrington is going to stand up and say that the content of what he said was wrong. >> The message is right, but he shouldn't be giving the message especially well Bruno Fernandez as captain maybe, but I just look at >> then he just get >> I look at the Sandro Martinez though and I look at his performance in Manchester United and I'm not having him. I know he's a World Cup winner even though Otto Mendy played majority of the minutes in that World Cup um win. I just >> think in the summer when they got to the final again. >> Yeah, he done okay. He done okay. I just look at him as a defender. Yeah, you can look at Salanki goal. He's trying to fight Sanki when he's never going to win that battle. But I just think concentrate on your own performance is because all we've said preseason is Manchester United have strengthened the midfield. They strengthen the attack. They need to strengthen the defense. So when he's moaning about we haven't got the right players in the building. Any player that's coming to take your place. >> Well, what's wrong with that though? So, so he's moaning that there's not good enough players to come in and take >> Why is he moaning? He's not moaning specifically about that and he was very careful about the way Well, he's probably moaning about the fact if you look at it carefully. Manchester United played 40 games last season, the lowest amount of games they've played in nearly a hundred years. This year with a squad of similar size, they're expected to compete in the Carabel Cup, the FA Cup, and the Champions League, plus the the Premier League with the same numbers and the same bodies. Yeah. Now, Luke Shaw played 38 Premier League games last year. He's not going to play 38 Premier League games this time. History suggests that he doesn't do that ever two seasons in a row. So, you need to make sure that you've got alternatives in every single department in order to give you the belief that you can go and compete, right? >> How can you take them seriously when they've got one number nine who's who's got a record of getting injured and they've got one left back who's got an even more checked injury record. Dog is not a left back, >> but you can play there. >> They've got one there, hasn't he? They've got one out and out left back and one of the suggestions to me this week is that Martinez actually was frustrated on behalf of young Aiden Heaven that he's being pitched in in a position that is alien to him in a Champions League game away from home at Madrid. Lenny Euro Lenny Yuro gets a lot of stick. >> PSG are looking at Lenny Euro. Real Madrid and Liverpool were looking at Lenny Euro before Manchester United signed him. He's a good defender. He's probably played too much football agree in a bad environment because when you're a good young player as he is, you need to see the oppos. >> I said before started that Mazari Dow can't be playing at right back. You need cover for Luke Shaw. You agree with Martinez. >> I agree with Martinez, but he's not the one to say it. And I just think it well not Bruno Fernandez. Maybe should be Bruno Fernandez. Maybe not. But I think everybody knows Bruno. >> Yeah, but everybody knows what Manchester United need. I think as a player, you concentrate on how you're playing on the pitch. You're not playing at your best. You're not looking like a solid defender. >> Bigger than that, Gab. It's bigger than individual performances. This has been going on for too long now. You accuse me and I appre meeting of having an agenda against Jason Wilcox. I've never had a conversation with a fell. I can't tell you if he's a good bloke or not. I can tell you he's not very good. >> Didn't you have a go at Romero for the same thing? >> Yeah, I did. And Tottenham Tottenham fans have accused me of being a hypocrite. >> So, explain that then. >> Well, I think Tottenham were in a slightly more perilous situation when he broke ranks. You know, they were they were staring at relegation battle. We're in October. and Manchester United aren't quite there yet. So, actually, maybe this is Landro Martinez trying to bring the dressing room together. We're we're all assuming the dressing room is going to be divided now. I think it might be the opposite because the fact that a lot of players agree with him, you might see a sort of siege mental >> this weekend. >> A lot of players agree with >> spoke to people in the last 48 hours. >> That's what I do as a journalist. Okay. >> But just on Jason Wilcox, this is a guy who came into Southampton. Look at the signings that he made at Southampton as a Premier League club. They conceded a huge number of goals. They were never competitive in the Premier League. What did Manchester United see in Jason Wilcox other than that he's mates with Omar Bard, the chief executive to to make them think he could come in with not much experience as a sporting director and and try and turn this ship around. He comes in, they make a mess of the Eric Tenhog situation because they're carrying out a beauty parade of potential replacements. They totally undermine him in the dressing round room. They keep him anyway. Then they have to fire him. Dan Ashworth was there above Jason Wilcox, but because he disagreed with the appointment of Ruben Amarine and that was an appointment led by Will Cox and Barada. So Jim Ratliffe is persuaded that actually despite saying he was the best in class, we're going to fire him and give him a big payoff as well. Then they fire Ruben Amarine because he speaks out against Jason Wilcox. >> So did Manchester United lose against Hall because of their squad's not big enough. >> Probably they got six points out of six Premier League games. >> Hall was probably the one game's not big enough where they were really shambolic. really this early on in the season. >> Well, I would say that that day they missed one key part which was they had no wingers in the team. They had no wings in the team cuz the only winger they've got in the squad >> because they let the previous manager get rid of them all. >> And Ahmad Ahmad was injured for that game. So they had no width in that match. And if >> he's not an out-out winger, is he? >> He's a winger. >> He plays in off the left, but he doesn't he's not an out and-out winger, is he? He's not going >> these are these are these are petty excuses. >> Rashford shouldn't even be there, Gab. That is one. That is one of the reasons. >> The worst star in Premier League history after six games and you're telling me that's because the squad's not big enough. I get every talking halfway through the season. Luke Shaw can't play two games. >> Well, who's the alternate center forward to Benjamin? >> Well, Marcus Rashford played there at Aston Villa. >> Well, Marcus Rash is not the answer to every question. Agree, bearing in mind that he wasn't even supposed to be there. They were expecting to do I I do not I agree. Last summer was fantastic. KA and Mumo Cesco this summer was okay. >> No, but this summer they've not brought in enough players. I get that. He used to have two strikers fighting when he's playing Champions League football. >> Let's go back to the the question though. It was about Landre Martinez really and Gary Neville saying that he has a problem with it because from a player's perspective, it's a direct attack on the players that you're playing with. So if I were Harry Magguire or Bruno Fernandez or any other senior player, I would be absolutely fuming with him because you're basically saying we shouldn't be here and we should be bringing more players in. That's before you get the context that other players agree with him. >> Do do you agree with that >> 100% as a as a players point of view? >> Do you feel as if he was having a go at the other players? >> He's basically saying I can't I don't want to say the word the team's rubbish. Begins with with he wants to say we're rubbish but maybe look at yourself Martinez. You've not been great. He's not quick. He's not aggressive. Doesn't win balls in the box with headers. How easy that was that for Sileni the own goal against Fulham. You've not covered yourself with joy. Who are you to be the one that calls out the hierarchy of Manchester United that oh the squad's not not not good enough? Maybe you put top performances in yourself then Manchester United would have had the worst start in the Premier League history. >> Don't you want strong characters in your dressing room? >> Yes, but don't come out in public and do it. >> His performance is not reflective of the fact that he and a number of players are very demoralized. Look at Bruno Fernandez. Apart from the game against Ipsich this season, he's made no goal contributions. Look at his body language. What does that say about him? After the final whistle went against Tottenham, he went and sat himself down the captain. He must be wondering, "Why am I still here?" Because he's had interest from other clubs. He's decided to stay because he was promised that Manchester United would be ambitious and they would get themselves into a position where they could challenge at the top end of the table. >> It's not working out now. So, what Bruno Fernandez is okay to down tools. >> Bruno Fernandez has carried this team on his back for the past what, seven, eight years. >> But this season, he has >> and he's been let down. He's been let down by the person and the people that Landro Martinez turned his gun on. >> This time last year that they had been let down. >> I thought last summer's transfer window was decent and you know so it transpired because actually the attacking players did well eventually. It wasn't a great start to the season as you remember the manager was addressing the areas that needed solving. >> Yes. But I still don't understand the logic and you mentioned this a couple of times. So last summer it was the attack. This summer it's the midfield and next year they're going to do the defense. What serious football club operates that way? Just focuses on one specific area when Champu need of surgery. >> 03717234 is the number to call. You can text us 81089 as well. You can WhatsApp us 3717234. Manchester United have had a little bit of a habit of this. If you go back over recent seasons, investing enough to get into the Champions League and not enough when they finally get there. So, what do you think about that Manchester United fans? Morning boys from Gaz in Manchester. Lovely start to the show. Getting straight to the issue in hand. Martinez, I work in the armed forces, but regardless of what organization you belong to, if I announce on social media or facilitated an interview declaring my disdain for your line manager, you would get absolutely rinsed and then for some, your job could be on the line, "Rookie, I agree in part with a few of uh your uh points. What uh where's the conversation with the captain, the boss, or the technical director before doing this? It's so unprofessional and footballers get away with so much. It's not on, but nothing will be done. He may move away at the end of the season. He'll make another 200k a week elsewhere. 03717234. You can text us 81089. Want to hear from you. Uh, says Drake the Seagull. At 10:00 a.m. Friday morning's talk sport. Time for Salty's Manchester United show. Manchester United have spent billions and delivered nothing. The club is rotten and still living off Sir Alex Ferguson's years. Why would any player go to Manchester United? Big club. Yes, successful. Not anymore. I agree that the owners have rinsed the club, but you reap what you sow. Years of pushing the little club down and now they're being beaten by them every week. I love listening to Crooan. Bet he was one of those kids at school in the black and red bench coat. Steve admit admittedly a Burnley fan by the way I have to tell you you're absolutely spot on there. Right. Okay. Let's take some calls. Let's start off with James Man United fan and Daniel the Man United fan who joins us. Hi Daniel. >> Morning guys. You're well. >> Yeah we're good. Thank you. >> Um I agree with Crookie because I think in play time for United regardless of how poor we've been they've obviously been promised something from the hierarchy and since took over they've been promised this. you know, they'd come out and said, "Oh, in three years we're in many years." And we're just nowhere near it. And the downturn in performance this season, I think when we we've come back from preseason and in in preseason, the likes of Meguire and Luke Shaw were in interviews saying that we need investment in the squad. We need challenge in we need each position to have a challenge for it. And they've just not delivered. And I think the senior players have started the season and just I think they've just give up unfortunately. >> Do you think that's a possibility Gabby? The fact is is that you know you're a group that have got Manchester United into an incredible position bearing in mind what happened with the previous manager in January. They've gone on a fantastic five month run that has seen them finish third in the Premier League. And then all of a sudden instead of investing in that squad they bought a couple of midfield players but a couple of key players have left as well by the way. So, it's not like they've added loads of numbers and they they look around the training ground and thinking, "What? This is it. We've got to play 30% extra games and we and we haven't got enough numbers." Can you understand why that might demoralize some senior players? >> Simon Jordan is going to say, "You're getting paid £300,000 a week to go and play football. What an enjoyable job." You know what I mean? They've not got a rubbish squad. We're talking about Belabas now. Tielemans, Zenu, Bruno, Fernandez, Ka, Emo, Shesco, Dio, Rashford. They've got going forward a midfield some very good players. Just get on with your job. >> Can you not understand as a senior player, have you not ever been in a situation where you've achieved something? >> Of course, but I think you were you were part of a a a dressing room in fact under Martin O'Neal, which started to push the sort of glass ceiling and then you got to a point where you needed investment in order to go the next step. What happened next? >> 100%. We we went downhill, didn't we? Of course we because we didn't get the investment. But does that mean that key players shouldn't be performing? >> What's happened to Bruno Fernandez? >> No, but there's there's two separate debates here and it's easy to focus on the fact Martinez is not playing very well nor is Bruno Fernandez. That doesn't take away from the fact the hierarchy have not done their job properly. I remember speaking to Luke Shaw after that I switch game and he was very upbeat about the season ahead. They just scored five goals at home. He was praising Rashford. You know he's back, he's hungry, he wants to deliver. Well, we've not seen that. He praised Kobe May who actually said he has the potential to be world class, but he also said in that interview because it was just before the transfer window closed, I'm sure we're going to get a couple of players in this week and I thought I think you are mate. >> Um, let's move on to Daniel. Thank you. Let's move on to James who's a Manchester United fan. Hello. >> Hi, guys. >> All right. What do you want to say? >> Thanks. Um, I agree with a lot of what Crookie said, but part of being a senior player is leading by example. Yeah. And I don't see any leading by example or any fight. Gabby, can I ask you a question, please? You can, mate. >> Um, >> when you were a player, did any of your managers or any assistant coaches or anyone tell you that you needed to fight, that you needed to show passion, that you needed to show energy, that you needed to show anything? >> Yeah. Most games you'd be told that, but most players would do that anyway without being told. >> But exactly, you don't have to be told to show those things. And what I heard in Landro Martinez is I I want good things for this club. Well, show it then. Show it on the pitch. Show it by leading with. If you're one of these senior players, show some fight. Show some belief. Don't get muscled off the ball all the time. All I saw against Tottenham was was an absolute disgrace of a display. Didn't show no passion, no heart, no belief, no energy, no musling people off the ball. They were absolutely appalling and that was the players. That wasn't anything to do with Carrick or Willox or Glazers or anyone else. It was the players. They were absolute disgrace. >> James, can I ask you what you think the reception will be for Landro Martinez when he runs out for the warm-up in front of the Manchester United fans at Ellen Road on S
