PSG first half. Unbelievable. I thought they were magnificent. Listen, >> Vitinho, someone tell me how you never get a game for Wolves >> is the biggest mystery in football for me. >> It is Al and you know so much talent there. And the way they move the ball, they do it with such pace and they're precise and when they get in their moments and they'll take just one touch if necessary, >> you know, Dway's another one out. He's a young lad that just when he he just comes alive and he can play on both sides. He can play left and right. >> We were talking yesterday, Cass, about Dwey and and Barca and Barca is the one that went to Liver. I'm glad for Barca. He got hattick last night. >> Oh, massive >> because I watched him come on sub against I thought he's electric. Electric. But he's the pressure was getting to him a little bit. That should relieve a lot of pressure off his game now. >> Yeah. And there is a thing Al, you know, like when players don't get a good preseason. >> Yeah. Barcola if you go back to Isak last year you know and this happens quite often when when clubs delay the transfer keep waiting till the last moment get it over the line then the player turns up and they never look sharp baka was the same he didn't look ready for action and that was exact last year >> so you know having their heads turned whatever they're doing you know vert is another one last year he never really got going >> this year as well not yet not for me yet not consistently No. >> Uh, so Bradley Barcola off the mark for Liverpool. A hat-tick last night. Liverpool thumping last 6-3. H definitely needed that. And Villa, what about Villa? Now I didn't see this game. Villa watch 6. Now that's one hell of a result as well. >> Yeah. Well, >> Nicholas Jackson, by the way, I've been critical. Will he score enough goals? He's beginning to impress me now. I'm beginning to change my mind. >> He looked sharp last night. A couple of really good finishes. Bartley come into midfield and done really well. Ros Bartley, you thought he' you know, he'd have been sort of pushed to other pastures, but he's he's coming to the Villa team. Manzambi, the young lad, he's only 21. He looks like he's going to be an for a lot of teams. And Unar sort of finally now I mean I saw them at Brighton at the start of the season now and they were all over the place and Uno was getting frustrated. You could tell it from the sidelines. Now he looks like he's got some resemblance of a team. He's working out where who plays when and and and they they look like they're jelling a bit because Ross Bartley's connection with Nicholas Jackson was really good last night. >> Well, that's good. That is good because Jackson could be key to Villa. You know, you need a goal scorer. And by the way, you know, so many teams need a proper goal scorer, but he's looking sharp. Jackson, I'll give him that. Now, in front of Pep Guardiola, City were beating 4-2 at the Etiad, the European Champions PSG. Paris raced in a 3-0 lead. I couldn't believe what I was watching, Cass. I really couldn't believe what I was watching last night. I thought this is incredible. Yeah. >> And when they attack, they attack with so much pace, class, and vision. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. City completely shell shock. Alli Alan McCoy described the opening 30 minutes, one of the best 30 minutes of football he's ever seen. >> Yeah. >> After the game, Enzo said Enzo Moresco said they will learn from the best team in the world. There you go. >> Yeah. From tonight game, I think we can learn many things. first of all that even if we consider two goals against probably the best team in Europe in this moment we need to continue to do the right things don't use distance and these kind of things for sure uh and at the same time uh I try to you know to to to continue to learn from the players because I just arrived 3 months ago so I need to you know every day every day but uh again the feeling at the moment is is very good >> there you go um look at it's a difficult one isn't I really I fancied City last night. >> I did. I fancied them. I thought at home after Anfield at home, their own fans, big occasion, big game, Pep's back, and I thought go on I I think they can go on and win this. But I was just I I was not shell shock, but just my eyes were popping out watching the score line as Paris just flow after flow of attack, attack, attack. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. >> Yeah. And look, he made a number of subs, didn't he? At Halime, Moresca. Um, you know, Dou came off Shery another one. >> I'm not a fan of the two wide players um cast not together. I'm When you play a top side whose midfield is clearly world class. >> Yeah. >> I can't be playing with two wide players cuz they're not getting if they're getting starved of the ball, you're too short in midfield. >> Yeah, they PSG do keep the ball amazingly. >> I don't get it when you play against class quality. Celtic have done it loads. They play two wide players. I'm like, don't do it's all right if they're on top and dominating fullbacks, but look at look at Paris's two fullbacks. They're not going to dominate them. >> No, they're two really good ones. >> So, I thought that was a mistake. I thought City had to get bodies in midfield. >> Yeah, that's Mendes and Akime. And they're both both great athletes, good man-to-man markers, really good on the ball, the pair of them. We're talking PSG have set a new standard, haven't they? >> And they started slow. What? That one? >> Yeah. Well, they started slow. Um, I mean, look, the French league for them, they they'll win it a cancer. They normally do. They'll get once they get going, they'll just creep back up the table and eventually take everybody down. >> Yeah. Some Let me give you the results last night. I think this a big result. Far three, Ko 2 cuz Ko have had a good season over in Italy. Safard 3-2. Last three, Liverpool six. Brilliant. Villa six, Fernabachi nil. I didn't see that coming by the way. A Villa win. Yeah, but 6-nil. Wow. Bordo Glenn, how [clears throat] did they do it? One, Barussia Dortmund nil, h City two, Paris four, Real Bet is three, Porto two. It's goals galore by the way. Roma three, Real Madrid four. I've not seen the goals of that yet. Shaka three, AK Athens one, Slovan Bratz the nil, Stogart three. Brilliant. Absolutely. So, some cracking games, wasn't there? Yeah. And the Turkish team suffered out, didn't they? Yeah. >> Get to talking to Graeme about that. You know, his time with Dino in Turkey. Yeah. >> Because I think the they're spending big big money Turkish size, but I'm like, are they a force in Europe at the moment? No, they're not. >> No, I think it's impossible for them clubs in Europe, Turkish teams. I mean, Gases got beat 4-1 at home by Barcelona, Fenabachi. >> I have to lead him one up. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Right. The back pages is all Manchester City. Uh, the Star have gone with champagne football. That's one of my favorites. French fizz sees Peps Etihad return go all flat. Uh, the eye says PSG lay down a gauntlet. Uh, both the Times and the Guardian have gone for a bit of a pun on the punishments that we're waiting for for City's charges. Uh, the Times say City heavily punished by rampant PSG and in the Guardian uh, European champions hand out punishment to City. Now Alan, you uh, learned a new word the other day. Can you remember what it was? German word. >> Alli told me about Shardan Freder. >> I took no notice of it. >> You took no notice of it. Okay. Good. Good to know. Uh but Shardan Freder probably >> Ali didn't know what it was. I don't know. >> I think he didn't know what it was. >> No, he did. He said he did. He I heard him ask Ollie. Really? He didn't know what it was. >> Oh, it's all lies. Well, Shardan Freder means taking uh pleasure in other people's failure. And I think there will be lots of fans watching Man City last night who enjoyed a bit of Shardan Freder. Cash, do you think uh the the fans around the world apart from Man City fans will have enjoyed watching Man City get slightly humbled? >> No, I didn't. >> No, Cash. >> Look, PG are such an extraordinary team >> and I was I saw the home league when Chelsea played them. They lost out in part in France and then played them at Stanford Bridge. Got beat up twice. Um that's what they do and they've Liverpool have experienced it as well. Now, Man City, Arsenal [clears throat] lost the final, but it was a penalty shootout. They're a really dangerous team. And I actually saw that, you know, I saw a lot of the the goals and the highlights last night. And uh I come away thinking, have that are they improve? They had no Calilia in the in the team. >> He didn't start. Now, I'm sure he'll play as they go along. But this team looks like it's improving because it's still really young. >> Is anyone going to stop PSG this campaign? >> They could do. They could do. Yeah. last night was when you talk about closing at the right time together, not just one or two going to close. They close three, four at a time. I thought they were brilliant. You asked the City today if they've been honest. They had no time on the ball. >> The first half an hour, 40 minutes, no time on the ball. They were press they were pressurized all the time. And >> were two center halfs out, you know, Diaz, you know, Mark Gay, they get they were soon as they were in the face of them as soon as they got the ball. >> Yeah, correct. and Gay I I'm not sure he's great on the ball by the way and the second goal I'd always pick individual second goal >> when you get someone as busy and as brilliant on the left hand side you know Gay the ball's he's ball watching he's watching the cross come in he's belly go doesn't know what's behind him how can you leave him >> free or or you've surely if you're on that side where's belly where's you're thinking you're looking ball man ball man ball man no looking at the ball square footed bang two-0 that was a killer goal M >> what about the keeper? I have I have my doubts about him now. I think he was a great keeper. I have my doubts about him now. >> Yeah. Um elsewhere in the back pages, the Sun have got a story um about Arsenal staff cull. Uh so this is page 30 page 40. >> 60 is it? 60 people could go. >> Yeah. 60 of them uh risk of losing their jobs. The news has broken to them yesterday on a call with CEO Richard Garlic who's also pictured. Um it's not a great look for Arsenal. Um >> this happens a lot, doesn't it? When these bigies get involved in anything, not just football clubs, >> they all of a sudden they want to increase profit and they they call they think, well, who do we really need and who don't we really need? >> They're terrible. They're always after profit, profit, more profit. >> And would you believe it, there is a uh consulting firm involved. So, US firm BCG, Boston Consulting Group are conducting the review. Um, the Sun reports that Arsenal's community and foundation operations are not impacted. So it's not the coaching, it's not the security department, but there are other areas that are basically getting the >> what they call BCG. You say >> BCG, Boston Consulting Group. Yeah. So they're consulting firm. They go into companies and and basically make a big deck that says who needs to be fired. >> Um it's not a great look though, Cass. When you've got Arta on 20 million pounds a year, new contract. >> Um >> players getting loads of money, coaches getting loads of money, and different areas of the football club are paid really, really well. >> And United done it, didn't they? They done it on us ago. >> Well, it's it's common, you know, they just strip everything they can and like you said, it's like someone comes in with a new idea, how can we save money in this direction to pay the other direction? Um, >> yeah, and Arsenal posted a loss in their most recent financial accounts, uh, record revenues last year, but as we heard in that regulation report yesterday around the state of the football game, lots of these clubs ultimately loss making all the time. So Arsenal looking to to kind of reduce the amount of spend but again it's not a great look is it when Arsenal doing well on the pitch and our test is being paid a lot of money. It's it's like Alli will tell you um when Alli was involved with Rangers and they got you know they got relegated for cheating the ABT scandal and they went down the leagues Alli felt he didn't feel sorry for the players >> felt sorry for the backroom staff the washer women [clears throat] >> people make you know the guys that cut the grass the guys that get clean the kit and he felt sorry because they when there's a cow comes they're the first to go. Yeah, >> absolutely. Um, quick note on Bradley Barkler as well, hat trick last night. >> Very happy for him. I like him. >> Yeah. Is is this the kind of spark you needed to get start at Liverpool? >> You do. You do. There's no Look, Liverpool fans, they're patient, but you've got to do it for them. Um, and I'm glad he's done that. I watched him come on against Port Monro opening game of the season. Looked electric, but he's just I think you got to find a way to get the best out of him. And Liverpool hopefully now that will do him the world. do him the world of good and hopefully they'll realize the pace he's got and how to play him because he is a special talent. >> Yeah. Look, the biggest criticism of him was he's not clinical. He's a young man. Your finishing does normally for most strikers out you're a striker. I was and you know you you improve as you get older and uh Buckle has got a lot of really good things in his game. He's lightning quick. He wants the ball. You can always give it to him. Um I thought he took all his goals really well. Uh, what did you think last night, Laura? Did you see the City game or not? >> I did. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was thoroughly You're up really early. >> I'm up very early. Yeah. Usually when it's Champions League night, I think to myself, I'm going to I'm going to pay for this tomorrow. But when City started, so and PSG rather, started so strong, I thought, I can't miss this. There were 46 goals scored last night across all the Champions League. Amazing. >> Absolutely crazy night of Champions League football. Yeah. >> Right. I'm going to take a call, Laura, because man, Michael's a Man City fan and has rung in. Michael, very good morning. Hi. >> Hi, Michael. Hi Alan, how you doing? >> I'm good, thanks. A bit shocked last night, but um looks a great side PSG, no doubt about it. And I thought it was great football. >> Yeah, two sides to that really. Me and my son was watching it and you know when they went 3-0 up, we wouldn't say applauded them, but I was like, "Wow, this is prime P." You know, Barcelona David Silva days. It was like you take your hat off to it. But listening to the headlines this morning and you know listening to some talk, not yourself, but it could have been a four-all game that you know we had we hit the woodwork twice. Donnaruma probably should have done better with the goal that we conceded in the second half. We had one off the line and what I would say is for as good as Paris was and 100% they was. Endai and Batti were the best players in the second half on that pitch. So well done to Moresca for making those changes because he spotted it. And I'll tell you what, I mean when Mesa come in, we all know what he's facing. We all know what he's dealing with. City fans are like, "Mesa, is he the man? Is he this?" But I'll tell you what, what he's been dealing with and the way that he's conducting himself and the substitutions and the tactics, he's winning us over, boys. I [clears throat] can tell you that much. Do >> you know um Michael, I don't know if you agree, but I I was disappointed uh with Dou and Semeno first half. You know, they just weren't there. Don't get me wrong, they're against two great fullbacks, but when you two wide players, I always think you're a bit short in midfield, and that's that was City's downfall for me in the first half. >> Yeah. Do you know what? I I give commentators curse as well because Semeno was brilliant last season. What a signing he was for us. And I said before the game again to my son, I was like, "Listen, Smeno's been quiet at the start of this season. I reckon he's in for a goal." Oh my god, it wasn't his night. And listen, I love the boy. I think he's great, but everything he touched just seemed to fly into rose ed. It wasn't his night and footballers have them games and it is what it is. But yeah, >> Michael, nice one. You saw a great game last night and then you know City, they'll bounce back. Don't worry about that. Cass, just a quick one on uh the two wide boys, Dusmen. I'm not saying they're not good players. They're very, very, very good. But playing them together against two top fullbacks, you've got to get the better. If you don't, you're short midfield. >> Yeah, they've got to give them they got to give him problems. Um, look, you ain't allowed in the modern game to have an off day, are you? Anymore? You know, we have plenty. We have plenty in our time. Um, look, there's certain players and teams that the fans can applaud, >> right? PSG are one of them. I can remember when Ronaldo went to Old Trafford, you know, the Brazilian Ronaldo when he got a hat-tick there and the United fans were applauding him. You know, you get that every now and again. You're witnessing one of the great teams in in the history of the game. >> Brilliant. It was okay. Lora, thank you. Bye. Lor's back a little bit later on. Thank you.
