managers, we always we always get to this sort of time sort of maybe maybe back end of October into November Christmas. >> As soon as the clocks go as soon as the clocks go back, someone's in trouble. Yeah, >> it gets dark for someone's career and it gets dark outside. Um, who is it dark for? Who is it potentially bleak for? I just want to give you some of the uh what the bookies favorites are saying. You've got Aralo in there at 5 to four as the top. >> Uh, >> see, I don't think it'll be him first, do you? >> I actually I know he's favorite, but no, I think I think it's the standout two, is it? Michael Carson and then I've got an outside bet. >> Roberto Deserby at 10 to three. >> They're the standout two. >> Oliver Glazna 7 to1 Matteas Yisler 15 to2. >> If if I was to pick an outsider, >> I think >> Yeah, I think so. So, who's your So, who's your number? So, you don't think that that the top candidate is is Araloa? >> No, I don't I don't think >> I don't I don't think it's Aralo. I don't think it should be Abalo either. I think he's at a new club. I think that he he deserves an element of of time. And I don't think you can appoint a young manager who's learning on the job, perfecting his craft, and expect it to work immediately. But the whole point of look, if you want it to work now, if you want to go proven, tried and tested, you go for somebody who's experienced. You can't give somebody their first job in English football and then go, "Right, make it work now." >> You have to give them an option to make their mistakes. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. But I think that there are managers that are doing worse than him considering what's >> got two points, played six games, ain't won one. >> Yeah. Yeah. Tottenham haven't won. Tottenham haven't won. But then they've appointed Derby who was supposed to be the here and now. He was supposed to be also with Derby, we constantly talk about how, you know, new manager and they've been there since March. Like it's not it's not that new. >> Yeah. I I think here's the thing with with Derby. I'll be honest with you with Spurs and let me know if you disagree. I'm sure you will. Spurs fans, let me know about this as well. I when I look at Spurs and this is I thought this before they played Man United as well. When I look at them, >> I think they're actually and hear me out here. I think they are actually playing better football. They're playing better football. They look more organized. They look like they know what they do. And and Deser's actually got them organized. I think what the problem is is two things. One, they're fragile mentally. So, when they experience adversity, they usually crumble, although they didn't at Old Trafford to be fair to them. And secondly, they're not scoring when they're in the ascendancy. They're not scoring when they should, which we did see at Old Trafford. Um, I saw it against Newcastle United when they lost to them 2-0. They absolutely like not battered them first half, but should have scored. Villa, they lost 3-0, but in the first half again, same thing. Should have scored. Everton at home nil nil. I looked at it, I'm like, "How have you not scored Liverpool in the Caribell Cup? I watched that game. They lost 3-1. Much changed. Liverpool side." Yes. But I looked at Kudos. I'm like, "How have you missed?" Bergal, "How have you missed?" Cut a long story short, what I'm saying is is when the when the hierarchy and the fans look at the team, they feel like they're nearly they're nearly about to start being okay. Now, the longer it goes on, listen, if they lose against Frank Lampas commentary, doesn't matter how they lose, massive trouble. But I just think there's a little bit there to go off. I I think you're I think you're probably right. Look, Michael Carrick, particularly when you start factoring the fixtures as well. >> Oh, we finished. >> When you factor in the fixtures, like I don't think you beat Leeds. I don't think you beat Ko. I don't think you beat Chelsea and then all of a sudden all of a sudden I don't see how Carrick's still in the job, right? So, so for those when you're trying to work it out, right, it's it's very difficult. But I would also say that we have to talk about Matteos Yasler here. >> Yeah, >> we have to. I think the expectations of the club at Newcastle with the ownership, they're going to be through the roof. >> Isn't that what you say though? Like he's new to the league. There's been a lot of change. Eddie How's a big imprint of what they did. They lost a lot of players. Like literally raided and they're they're 11th, mate. They're 11th. They're not they they've won two, drawn two, lost two. It's literally a missed back >> in their last two I think this is correct. In their last two away games, they got >> consecutive away games. They conceded four goals. >> Yeah, they have. >> And that's bad. >> And that that game at that game at Ellen Rose, >> they were battered. They were battered. They couldn't live with Calvin Lew. >> The Coventry one was like it wasn't really a 4-1 game if I'm honest. It wasn't like they missed a load of chances and then the game sort of opened up but painful but it was it was walloping. It was a wallopin. >> No, I think it was a wallin on the score line >> but I watched the game. It wasn't like that >> but the league's won the listen the league one. >> The thing is right they concede goals like Chelsea and and Newcastle have conceded a joint amount of goals joint most amount of goals in the league >> and nothing about Newcastle's attack really scares you. No. like you're not looking at their attack being particularly particularly intimidated. So I don't think they're a very good team. I think Yasler has has done okay so far but all it takes is a defeat at home to Villa which by the way I think happens. >> Could happen. Yeah >> I think it does. >> It's going to be >> and then all of a sudden then all of a sudden they'll be what three four points above the relegation zone eight games in. It could go wrong is is >> it could and that's listen that's why he's in the running. I do I do hear that. I think he's a I think he'll have to go a little bit more wrong. I I think it's our blower for me 100%. If he loses against Hull, who are newly blurs and and there's no expect. >> Yeah, but they're coming from they're coming from Marcos Marco Silva who did a really good job and they were never really in any in any danger of going down. In fact, in in fact, the criticism for Fulham under Marco Silva was come on, why can't they do a Palace run? >> Yeah. >> Why can't Why can't they do what Brighton do? Why can't they have a good cup run or try and push for Europe a little bit? But they're never in any danger of going down now. They sit rock bottom of the league, winless. And actually, when you look at the squad, I think they got some good players. They should that Fulham team shouldn't be rock bottom. I don't think they're the worst team in the league on paper. I know football isn't played there. And Arboa is a is a like you said a really and I'm I'm surprised he even went there. I'm not going to lie. He's Let's be honest like he he took over at Real Madrid in a really difficult time as a caretaker manager. He's landed up in a big job in the Premier League. They've taken a chance. I think with chances like that where they don't have much experience, I think it's I think it's easier to spot. >> You can't you can't think that you can't think that he's doing a worse job than Michael Carrick. Michael Carrick has been there for longer. He's got better players. He's had more fixtures that he should win. Like the fixtures have been so kind to Manchester United. >> That's true. >> That's true. >> But that's why Michael Carrick also right there next to him as well. He's going to get sacked. >> Yeah. But if if we're now making this one and two >> Yeah. But if my car lose against Leads, he won't get sacked. I know we say should, but he won't. Right. >> If Arbo loses at home to Harve and gets that. >> I don't think I don't think he should. >> So, how long should they give him? Just what? Just >> Well, less time than Carrick. Carrick's been there for longer. Got better players. He's expecting more is expected of him. >> Like, you've got you've got to bear in mind with our blower. It's a completely new league for him as a manager. He's finding his feet as a manager in a new league country. Like sometimes you just know you got know what I'm looking at. >> The other the other thing is as well when you just look at their players like you look at their team, >> they've got some good players. They've got some bad players too. >> Yeah, >> like they do have >> What about PSG before we before we break? >> So, do you know what I think is going to what I think is going to happen? I think the European form >> I think the same about Sunderland, right? >> They're going to struggle. >> They're going to struggle in the league, but their European form is going to create a feelood feeling around the club. Like when you look, you know this when you're winning in Europe, particularly when you're not blas about winning in Europe, >> I think you're like Sunderland have just won in Europe. They're going to be fans are going to be fans are going to be over the moon. That performance, that moment, the fans are going to be over the moon if >> as long as they're not in a relegation. >> As long as they're not in a relegation >> battle, >> like they can feel >> just stay up but enjoy that, >> mate. If they're in the semi-finals of a European competition, >> but but they're but they're 14, it's fine. >> It's absolutely fine. >> 100%. I think they yeah they just got to got to make sure they you know bread and butter stay in the Premier League. Don't get ahead of yourself cuz very quickly it can change and you're back in the championship and Sunland fans with how long they hadn't been in the league before we'll know all about that. But absolutely I agree and listen the manager um he he did make changes as well. You know he made changes and they still managed to get the win. So uh it was brilliant for them. Rory before the break was saying that he thinks Matteas Yisel is in big trouble. I said you know two wins, two two draws, two losses, a bit of a mixed bag. probably got to scope it out a little bit. They've had a lot of change. Who better to speak to than a Newcastle United fan? Chris is on the line. Um, I want to get your take on this, Chris. We want to get your take on this, mate. Good evening to you. Um, what's your thoughts on Matteas? Is he in trouble? Could he be the first Premier League manager to be sat this season, mate? >> No, I think it's going to deserve it to be honest with you. >> Oh, do you? Yeah. >> Yeah. >> How come? I mean apart from like leads and covering like you've there's been like encouragement signs of obviously Eddie how was a good manager but like obviously he's come in from the south and like just these tactics I mean um commentary game like he was saying before it was never 4-1 they were just trying to walk the ball the net as though there was no keeper there. >> Yeah you did you did miss a lot of chances against commentary didn't you? >> Yeah I think it I think it was like nearly 15 shots or something. There was something stupid what it was, but it was um like there was some sets. >> Yeah. Yeah, you did miss a lot. But does it worry you the rate of which you're conceding? You conceded eight in your in your last two away games. Yeah, sort of. I because it's just like obviously Dan Burns just come back which is obviously a plus but like it needs to I guess it's tomorrow night we play. Um something needs to change out the back because obviously like you're saying I've conceded eight goals and I should never have conceded four against concrete. >> No, it's a tough one. Are you confident? Are you confident going into the Villa game? 100%. I mean, I know they've just they've just absolutely annihilated like I I think probably it's 2-1 3-1 free. I don't know. That is a tough one. Thank you, Chris, for your call, mate. I appreciate that. Best of luck to you on the weekend. Um, listen, I I do think it is going to be tough for I do think he could be in trouble. Absolutely. You know, of course, you keep losing games. Um, it's a mixed record for now, but it might not stay a mixed record. you know, it could start to turn um the other way. So, I definitely see him as a candidate um for being in trouble. That's for sure. But if we're being honest, um the Aston Villa game is not easy. That is not an easy game at all. Um and they listen, they've had their own problems uh you know, this this season already. He's not not starting too well. Um and getting a draw last time out as well um at home to Brenford who are unbeaten. So, that's they're a good side. But, Aston Villa will be will be fancing them themselves um in this game. Newcastle United under a bit of pressure. >> Yeah. How do you see it going? >> I don't know. And I I think maybe a draw. I think maybe a draw, but I'm not going to lie, I did what what concerns me about Newcastle United is I did look at their starting lineup uh against Coventry and I just saw it just reminded me of just how much has changed. So you do forget, you know, they've lost Gordon, they've lost Tali, they've lost Brunoarez, they had young Lewis Miley playing out position at right back. I think um Fernandez Pardo, the kid up front. I don't think he's probably a natural striker. Um you know, extended periods for Joe Willick in central midfield. I I you know, Murphy still on the right. I I still looked at them and thought, okay, you're about a langanger, but there's not much quality there. I can see that you could be in trouble, which I do sort of sympathize with Ya, which in what you were saying about Arbaloa, I will kind of extend that same courtesy to Yela, if you get what I mean. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Look, they're the out. What we're doing now is we're having a chat about the outside shouts. The two the two favorites in this exact order. It's Michael Carrick, Roberto Deserby. Deserby less so because his team are playing well. Carrick looks totally out of his depth. And it and it actually feels like a question of a question of like when, not if. >> Yeah. >> Like whether Manchester United sack Michael Carrick this week, next week, Christmas or early January, it's almost irrelevant because he won't see the season out. That isn't the case with Derby. Deserby could go, but equally if they get a win, if they start finding form, they beat Coventry, they then get a good result down the line, all of a sudden the complexion of their season looks totally different. >> Yeah. >> Whereas you can't see that for Manchester United. >> But in terms of who's more likely to get sacked next, I don't know. But if Deserby doesn't get sacked next, you could see him last in the season. Whereas if Carrick doesn't get sacked next, he's still not seeing >> a chopping block. Yeah. It doesn't feel like there's going to be any momentum. Um there is a goal in the game in the Championship tonight. Burnley against Wolves at Turfmore. It is that man Jamie Vardy has got his first goal for Burnley. Yeah, great goal. It was like a throwback Jamie Vardy goal as well. Running down the left hand side. He's through on goal, left foot across goal. Brilliant finish. So that game uh is live over on our sister station Talk Sport 2 right now. You can download the Talk Sport app to hear the action as well. Um let's get to back to the phone lines as well and talk to Nick, a Manchester United fan. Um Nick, what's what's happening with us? What's happening with us, mate? Is is is Carrick in huge trouble if we lose against Leads? Do you think Do you think he could be done? >> I don't think he could be done after the result against Leeds. Um I think he could be gone if we don't do well in the Champions League because Champions League brings money >> and if we lose to Como and we're not looking great, if it's anything like we played against Atleti or Spurs, there's just no effort from the team. I mean, you can look at Michael Carrick and say he wasn't the right man for the job, but he did well. So, I can understand why he got the job, but if the players aren't putting it on the pitch like that, they're going to be the one that signed his death warrant. Really? >> Yeah. And they and and and listen, we haven't been good. He's right. >> Yeah. Although, the problem is, Nick, as much as I kind of agree with what you're saying, the Champions League is very important. As soon as Manchester United as a club realize that the Premier League form isn't going to qualify you for the Champions League, >> it's going to be the same thing, isn't it? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. No, I know. But I mean, you look at Spurs against United last week from minute one, they were on us and we weren't putting that pressure back on them. I think Spurs, like you were saying earlier, they do look a decent side and once I think that result against United would only go to show them that they can come back and they didn't play bad against us. They I can't believe United come away with a point in that one. >> Yeah, Spurs should have been about two three up >> 100%. I can't see how they were and now they Sanki's got a goal. He could kick on get a couple of goals for him. He's never going to score 15, 20 goals, but he could get him a few goals. And once they get that first win, I think they're going to be flying. I can't see that from United at the minute. >> Nick, Nick, if Carrick does go, sorry to cut you, mate. If if Carrick did get sacked, who where do you think we should turn to next? Because there's a lot of talk about Antonio Conte. Some fans are saying absolutely not. You know, it's car crash waiting to happen, etc., etc. And some fans, um, and others, you know, Rory to be as well, he's saying that's exactly what you need. Someone who who knows what it is at a big club. And we're back at that stop again. >> This is the Asel question. Who's out there at the minute? Everyone's looking for the next Alex. There is no manager like him again. >> Antonio Conte, I wouldn't want to see him there. He's not done well at Chelsea. Well, he won cups, don't get me wrong. He didn't do well at Spurs. >> He did a credit and Nick, Antonio Conte is one of Chelsea's greatest managers. He's genuinely one I don't think you can I mean, I put this out there to anybody listening. Don't I can't think of a title win from anyone that has been more directly down to the manager imprinting his vision on the team more than Antonio Conte at Chelsea in in in that title winning season. >> Did you mean Spurs, mate? >> Well, yeah, he didn't do well at Spurs at all. >> Yeah, I think Spurs is where he didn't do definitely did well at Chelsea. >> In two seasons at Chelsea, just for clarification, like in two seasons, we won the we won the Premier League. We went from 10th to top. We in the second season that apparently went terribly, we finished fifth and beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final. >> Again, I wouldn't say United have been the the team they were say 10 years ago or so. I mean, beating United in a final, >> it was 10 years ago. >> That's nothing. I mean, it's nothing big to shout about these days beating United. And I mean Chelse Chelsea their squad don't get me wrong is a better squad and has been for many many years than United have had. Yeah, you can point the blame at the board for that but who comes in after Carrick? I don't think any big manager comes in because who's going to want to take that on that poison chalice? >> I think the Manchester United will always have the allure though. I think Manchester United will always have the power, the prestige. >> Want to come. Thank you, Nick, mate. Uh we appreciate the call as well. Have a good weekend and hopefully we get those three points as well. Um, yeah. I I I disagree wit
