"HE'LL BE GONE BY FEBRUARY!" Man Utd fan PREDICTS Michael Carrick WON'T SURVIVE the season!
Man United fan predicts Carrick will be gone by February as hosts question his impact
A Man United caller, Paddy, predicts Michael Carrick will be sacked between Christmas and February, and says United's season is already over with no chance against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. The hosts say Carrick does not inspire the team and point to the poor performance against Spurs; a later discussion partly attributes United's long decline to Sir Alex Ferguson having been so good.
- Carrick will not last the season and will be gone around Christmas or by February; United's season is already over and they have no chance against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, so they need a change now — United's poor start made this feel inevitable and the club has hit another low; they are nowhere near Champions League form and Simeone's Atletico will be too much
- Carrick's earlier good results came from the caretaker boost; it will not work for him as permanent Man United manager — As a respected ex-player and caretaker, he got the players onside, but the dynamic changes once he is the main manager at a big club and things go downhill
- Carrick does not inspire me and does not convince as Man United manager — It is not a popularity contest; being a nice guy is not enough. Against bottom-of-the-table Spurs, who went down to 10 men, United still conceded and were outclassed in distance covered, running and sprints; a clinical Spurs would have battered them, and Atletico away looks bleak
- Man United are terrible, like a three-legged, one-eyed dog with fleas and half a tail — They lost to 10-man City two games ago and were lucky to get out of jail; the team is a mess that cannot run or see
- One reason United have taken so long to return to the top is that Sir Alex Ferguson was just that good — Bayern, PSG, Barcelona, Real Madrid and the Portuguese big three usually come back quickly, while United have simply not got there

Is Manchester United season over already? We've got Paddyy with us now. Paddyy, good morning. >> Hi, Patty. >> Good morning. Good morning, Cass. You're you're one of my heroes by the way. Republic of Ireland forward, mate. >> Okay, great. Um, Paddyy, how are you feeling as a Manchester United fan? >> I'm feeling uh depressed and feeling angry a little bit as well. probably I knew sort of had a feeling that this would would this would happen because given the start of the season we've had I had a strong feeling we would we would this would happen to be fair and you might say you know cut feeling or whatever but United fans since the late '7s you know we've seen the highs and the lows and this one's a pretty another low I think >> do you think um Michael Carrick can survive much longer >> no it'll be gone by February probably Christmas January February gone >> do you Feel the season's over already, Paddyy. >> I do. Yeah. And I mean, Champions League's coming up on Tuesday. Madrid, Simeone, that no chance. No way. Champions League, you know, Champions League, we're not we're nowhere near Champions League form or or going anywhere in that competition. Need to change needs to change right now. Something to come in and stabilize it. Now, you've got to >> Yeah. Paddyy, where from last season where obviously Michael Carrick got a lot of great results, some big performances, winning in the Emirates, you know, and where's that gone? I think I think I think the high of having I mean being a caretaker manager everyone likes to be when you're a caretaker manager it's different to when you take over as a manager of big club is an ex player a very respected ex- player and I love Michael Carrick on the football pitch but unfortunately once you become the big manager it's it's ch it's all changed at Paddington isn't it and and it then it becomes difficult at this and it's a big club this is Manchester United and we're still I think still a big club and I think I think taking over caretaker yeah it's great having, you know, a young manager there. Fant. The players got on with him. That that that took him that that that took him a long way in some respects, but then unfortunately a change happens, doesn't it? That uh I'm the manager now. And I don't know what happens. Something clicks >> and then it's it then it goes downhill. I mean, and obviously we've had the oliggon of social before when he was the ex player and then comes in as manager and I just don't think that works. Um both I just don't think it works. Listen, in terms of today, Liverpool, Man City at half past 4. Who are you sporting? >> Uh, Liverpool. [laughter] >> It's funny the amount of Man United fans saying that today. Paddyy, thank you so much for your call. Take care. >> Okay, take care. >> Patty's right. I mean, I just said it earlier on this morning, but Michael Carrick does not inspire me. >> No, I know you're not the only one. I've had a number of United fans who uh who are in similar vein who just not convinced at all. I mean, we played we played Spurs who are were rock bottom of the Premier League yesterday who then go down to 10 and still concede and Carrick he seems like a good guy. You know, it's not a popularity contest. You don't have to be the nicest guy in the world, but you have to be a bit inspiring when you're the Man United manager. And then I look at what the team are doing for him on the pitch yesterday. Outperformed in every department, distance covered, running, sprints, all outclassed by Spurs. and Spurs if they were clinical would have absolutely battered us. So yeah, it's hard to see the positives with Atletico Madrid away on Tuesday in the Champions League. Right, let's do some of this. >> Show me talk looking back at some of the best bits across the week. Starting with Mr. Gabby Agabon Lor. Happy birthday, Gabs. His surprise birthday party uh planned by his misses was nearly ruined on Friday as Sam Matterface hadn't been told the information. >> I didn't know that there was some big conspiracy to organize a surprise 40th birthday celebration for Gabia Bonahor by his misses who had spent a lot of money to take him away at 4:00 this morning. Ollie, who is uh the editor of the mornings here on Talk Sport. Great producer, bad dresser. [laughter] We didn't he didn't let us know. So, we we basically almost ruined the surprise. I mean, basic we did ruin the surprise. >> He was still asking for the running order, Gabby. And I was like, "Come on, ref." Yeah, we're going to bed in a minute. Let's get this [laughter] running order. >> And then I asked Gabby if he fancied a pint after the show. We did birthday beer. >> I mean, two big surprises, actually. First of all, we thought you'd dumped him. Um and second of all, >> he's only 14. He's only 40. [laughter] >> Everybody thinks Gabby's always that we bit old. >> I know. [laughter] I know. >> Happy birthday, Gabs. And guys, the clues in the title. Surprise birthday party. Got to be up early. Uh, and in the game day phone in yesterday, Jason Kundi was not impressed by Man United's performance cuz he has eyes. >> Three-legged dog with fleas, mate. >> Is that what Man United are? >> Three-legged dog with fleas. >> That's harsh. >> And I don't think it is harsh. >> No. >> No. Not at all. They got beat by 10 men City two games ago. They're lucky to get out of jail with a >> three-legged dog with fleece. >> One eye. He's got one eye and his tail's cut off. >> What's wrong with that? >> He's a mess of a dog. >> He looks quite cute, though. >> He can't run. >> Can't see. Don't know, mate. >> His tail's cut off. That's what I right now. Threelegg, onelegged, three-legged, [laughter] oneeyed, three-legged dog with fleas, half a tail. Oh, >> that's who they are. They're terrible. >> [laughter] >> The poor dog. >> Yeah. >> Oh, I I kind of agree with Jamie. It's we bit cute though. You kind of want to love it, but you also want to cry when you watch. >> Well, it's a rescue dog in it at the minute. >> That's why someone's got a rescue united. >> And I hate this, but it kind of needs put down. >> Yeah. >> You know, it's not it's not you can't go on like this. The dog is just going to get worse. >> Look, this is where Look, just quickly on this. This is where I have a bit of an issue with why in the UK on the Premier League a big club falters and then can really fall away. Really fall away. If you look at all the major leagues around Europe, Bayern will always be buying. PSG will come back. Okay, you could use the example of Marseilles haven't come back but generally Barcelona Madrid if they fall they come back within a couple of years. What why is it taken so long at Manchester United? >> They've just not got there. >> Just I think St. Alex was just that good. >> You know, if you look at >> that good >> Portuguese league, Sporting SP in Lisbon, Porto, >> Benfica, they will always be back there. >> Yeah. >> Very quickly >> if they fail. >> I mean, Manchester United. No, >> I think that's maybe the worst insult I've ever heard. >> A three-legged dog, tail cut off, can't run, and got one eye >> and >> fleas on top of that as well. >> You You can We can't be having that. Come on now. Anyway, you can hear a bit of that in action Tuesday live here on Talk Sports. Man United go to Atletico Madrid. And finally, as the debate around whether Ronaldo was right to quit the national team or not, Portugal with Simon Jordan, it was catching strays. >> I want to give you a little cheerful note for you to take back to your workstation, which is when I was Simon Jordan. >> I Well, I sent Cristiano the clip of me with Simon Jordan this morning and Cristiano text that blonde guy tell him to stop with the Botox. He looks LIKE AN APPLE. [laughter] YEAH, I DON'T need live breaking news. >> Live breaking news from Cristiano Ronaldo. Simon Jordan, you are an apple. >> You smooth suspiciously smooth face. >> He'll take that. He doesn't want to be called that blonde guy though, does he? >> No, he doesn't. [laughter] He was I think naturally blonde about 20 years ago. >> Yeah. I mean, he's definitely getting his roots done as Simon Jordan, but he's not having Botox. I know a Botox face. My face is a Botox face. >> I wouldn't know. You don't look like you've had Botox. smile. >> Look at my forehead. It doesn't move. Right. Look right down the camera. Look at my forehead right now. >> That's me straining. >> Look at the eyebrows stuck in time. That's a Botox head. Simon Jordan has wrinkles everywhere on his forehead. >> All right. >> So, he's fine. I'll let you off with it, Simon. But you definitely do get your tips done.
