"HAVE A LOOK AT YOURSELF!" O'Hara SLAMS Martinez's comments after Man UTD lose Vs Atletico Madrid!
talkSPORT debates Bruno, Martinez and Carrick after Man United's defeat to Atletico Madrid
This clip reacts to Manchester United's 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid. It focuses on a call to drop Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martinez's comments about the owners, and the pressure on Michael Carrick. The conclusion is that dropping Bruno is not the answer, Martinez has little right to criticise while making costly mistakes, and Carrick is dealing with a broken club.
- United should leave Bruno Fernandes out and rest him against Leeds — Bruno has not looked fit or himself and missed games for Portugal during the international break. Apart from the Ipswich game, he has not been putting up numbers, so Carrick should make the huge call to drop his captain.
- Dropping Bruno Fernandes is not the answer; United's problems are much deeper — If that is seen as the solution, United are in a worse state than the speaker thought, because there is so much wrong at the club.
- Martinez's comments about the owners put Carrick under pressure, but Carrick cannot go rogue like a player and must toe the party line — Martinez will not be sacked and can say what he wants, while Carrick has to answer questions about what a player has said about his bosses and stick to the club line.
- Carrick is not to blame; he is trying to patch up a broken United, and the same fix will not work again, so the club needs a new plate — United were already broken and Carrick only glued the pieces together. Once it breaks again in the same place, superglue will not work, so the whole thing needs rebuilding.
- United were pathetic and still did not try to go forward after the red card, with no sign of scoring; they are also shocking in the league against Spurs — They just knocked the ball about and got caught defensively. They only came away with a point against Spurs because they were playing Spurs.
- Martinez has no right to attack the owners because his own mistakes have cost goals and points — He was poor defensively against Spurs and made a mistake against Fulham, already costing Carrick six points, yet he still came out to criticise the owners.
- Players are selfish, and Martinez is looking for a lifeboat and shifting blame by attacking the owners — When the ship is sinking, players look after themselves and find the next person to blame. He cannot blame the manager who works every day, so he goes after the owners. It is either brave or stupid.
- Talk that United could have won the title with 10 more games after getting into the Champions League last season is nonsense; Carrick inherited the same problems and now has to clean the whole mansion — That is not how a season works. Carrick had only cleaned up part of the house before; now he has to deal with the whole mansion and much bigger problems.

We're going to hear from Michael Carrick after a shocker in Madrid. But first, speaking of shockers, should we hear what TalkSport Alex Crook had to say at full-time after that 2-0 loss for United. You mentioned Bruno Fernandes, I don't think he's fit Adrian. He missed games for Portugal during the international break, hasn't looked himself. I think the biggest call that Michael Carrick could make right now and it will be huge to leave out his captain but you've mentioned the stats, apart from the game against Ipswich, he's not putting numbers on the board. I would take him out of the team against Leeds at the weekend. the captain well if they play a season yeah i mean that if it's that bad oh wow i mean that that's a massive no that's not the answer that is is not the answer. No. Dropping Bruno Fernandes is not the answer. No. There's so much wrong at Manchester United. There is so much wrong. And if that's the answer, it's worse than I thought. It's worse than I thought. well Manchester United boss Michael Carrick he'd been speaking to Amazon Prime after the game was asked about Lissandro Martinez comments and he said I haven't seen it after a game like this you come here to try and get something from the game you're disappointed it can be emotional I've not seen it so I don't think it is the right time we all can show that in different ways but now is the time to be together and work through so obviously look that's going to be a story that's going to take a lot of heat because that's one of your players coming out and basically slaughtering the owners, right? Yeah, slaughtering the owners and he puts Carrick under pressure for the next question as you just see, just alluded to. Now he's got to answer questions based on what the player has said about the owners, his bosses. Martinez ain't going to get the sack. He can say what he wants in some ways. Players can come out and be rogue. Carrick can't be rogue. Carrick's got to toe the party line. Yeah, he has. Do you think he's close to getting in a sack i think he has some managers available yeah i think i think he has to be because there it's it's and again it's not his fault it's so broken there all he's doing is trying to piece together the broken plate for last year and you know what happened he's pieced that plate together with a little bit of superglue and it's in its serving again and he's now put it on the table and it's a couple of pieces have come away and he's like oh god once you've used super glue you can't use it again you know that don't you what do you mean you can't you can't super glue something comes apart you super glue yeah you can't use super glue again because it don't work super glue doesn't work on super glue it's over it's done What do you mean? So if you superglue a plate together. Yeah. And you break it in the same place again, and you put superglue... Don't! Ain't working again, mate. I don't know if that's true, mate. Oh, it is. You try it. Break a plate when you get in. Put superglue. Wake up, boy. I'm not going to break a plate when I get in. So he can't use superglue twice Can't use In the same spot The superglue powers have gone They go They're not saying Something happens on the mixture between the play and the play and the superglue. You cannot use it again, Jay. So what you're saying is, is Man United are basically a broken plate. A broken plate, man. Put together by superglue. Superglue's coming. And he's trying to put the superglue back. Well, we can't. Can't do it again. Need a new plate. Need a new plate. Let's go to Ben, he's a Man United fan. Ben? All right, Benny boy. How are you feeling, Ben? Absolutely pathetic again. I feel as though... even after the red card, we didn't even look like we wanted to go forward. We were just trying to knock the ball about and just keep hold of it. The best thing they could have done was just saying we wanted forward it. Because before they went 2-0 down, they already went down to 10 men. So the best option would have been to just go for it but they got caught in defence and got caught out. I actually thought you did alright after the first goal though. I think he recovered quite well. We were okay in spells but we showed no sign of putting a goal in the back of the net, I don't think. And it's the same in the league as well. You're shocking against Spurs. I don't know how you come away with a point but it's because you're playing Spurs. Where do you go from here, Ben? What's the answer? Well, I agree with the Martinez call what he made after the game but at the end of the day it's not like he's been United's best player to be making shocking calls like that himself. I mean, he cost us a goal. Spurs? Spurs. Flanke as well. What's he doing? Was it Fulham? Yeah, and well. And he's in no position to say anything. So, to be fair tonight, I would have put Harry Hamas in tonight over Dalot, to be completely honest. I would have started him over Dalot, young, quicker, and he's worth minutes. You make a really good point about Martinez, right? Because if I'm Michael Carrick now, I'm sat in there and he's obviously going to go and see the quotes right and then he's going to be like right what's he said and as a manager right you're going to sit there and go are you having a love like have you really come out and said that after you cost me three points against Tottenham right where you're shocking defending yeah he cost me a point or three points against fulham just cost him six points already and he's got the cheek to come out and start battering the owners they know we've not been back i think what we looking at are players now hold on a minute yeah but players are selfish they will they will now start to look around how about looking yourself where's the nearest lifeboat where's that that's where they're at where where's the nearest lifeboat that's what's going on the rats deserting a sinking ship that's what that tells me they're looking around going well self-preservation I know I've not had a great period I'm now gonna who's the next one I can blame where he can't go off the manager his next one because going off the owners who cares can't throw the manager on because he got working every day he's going off the owners i mean it's either really brave or really stupid and and somewhere in between is probably the truth. But he's looking for the nearest lifeboat, mate. The Titanic's sinking. He's Jack. He's Jack. He's Jack, mate. That's what he's doing. He's looking for... Yeah. Jack! Jack! Jack Jack That's what's happened And he's now looking He's throwing everyone It's like get out Listen I want that lifeboat That's what's happened That's what's going on here Bit of an issue A huge problem there I thought they were doing all right last season I thought they had you weren't having it you know what I'll give you your credit you do come out of a lot of guff but you did even when Man United were flying and winning you were like No, shouldn't get a job. It was dangerous. What they should have said at the time I said, thank you, but we now need to move in a different direction. But the owners, they were almost, as I said, duty bound they had no choice because they'd chained themselves to michael carrett he's done a brilliant job but did he did he who couldn't have done that he got steve holland alongside him right brilliant brilliant coach they managed to navigate their way from bottom of the table certainly 11th in my opinion up into Champions League and everyone's going well had there been another 10 games many not could have won the title whoever come out of that quote we had a couple of them come on the sports spot. Absolute guff because you can't, that's not how a season works. Now they're given the keys to the mention. Now you've got to go on, carry on, make this place look better well the same rules apply from last season amory must be sitting there now absolutely soiling himself thinking well think was it all down to me yeah he had his own issues but michael Carrick's inherited the same problem. All that happened is that he only had to clean up a certain part of the house and get that right. Now he's got to clean the whole mansion. Now he's got major problems. Right, keep your calls coming in, 03 03, 717, 222, 233, 24 Jack
