"PROBABLY RIGHT!" Simon Jordan RESPONDS to Graeme Souness branding Bukayo Saka a DIVER and a CHEAT!
Simon Jordan responds to Graeme Souness calling Bukayo Saka a diver and a cheat, and says Souness is probably right
The discussion centres on Souness saying on Piers Morgan's show that Saka goes down as soon as he looks like losing the ball and that simulating a foul is cheating. Simon Jordan argues Souness was not singling out Saka but highlighting a widespread habit of buying fouls; Arsenal fan John also accepts Saka does it but says everyone does it and that is football now.
- Saka dives all over the place and goes down the moment he looks like losing possession — He goes to ground when he is about to lose the ball and simulates fouls to win decisions
- Anyone who simulates a foul is a cheat, and Saka fits that description — The referee's first instinct was not to give a foul, but after Saka stayed down and Arsenal players appealed, the referee panicked and gave it
- Souness was not specifically targeting Saka; he was talking about players buying fouls and creating outcomes — Piers Morgan kept bringing the topic back to Arsenal, and Souness would have said the same about players from other clubs; there is a long list of players who do it
- Souness is probably right that Saka and similar players manufacture outcomes by going down — Jack Grealish does the same, and there is a long list of players who buy fouls or cheat to create outcomes
- Souness is very rarely wrong, and his views usually come from an informed standpoint — People may dislike him calling Declan Rice a centre-back and saying Rice lacks enough football in his game, but that does not make Souness wrong
- Souness is right that Saka does it, but it is not just Saka — Grealish, Saka and Foden all do it and it is part of the game; Piers Morgan is too Arsenal-centric
- You can call it cheating, but that is just what football is now — Everyone does it and the game has moved on, so it has to be accepted

We began the show at the back at 10:00 this morning as we normally do because we're live from 10 to 1 uh with Martin Kon um responding to an article from the male writer Tom Colamossi where he he Tom had called Arsenal the unwatchables. Uh and and Martin for some reason had a serious tilt at Tom. Um Thomas has just messaged me. Piers Morgan disagreed with me but Martin K was wrong to question my motives in branding Arsenal the unwatchables. I have a duty to call it as I see it, says Tom Colammore. Quite right, Tom. Very important duty. Absolutely right. >> Well done. >> A duty of responsibility to all your readers. Yes. And to uphold the values of your profession that I hold in such the highest regard. >> No, you stand firm, Tom. We're with you on that. Especially when it comes to matters keon arenvincible. You went from here yesterday and joined your good chum Piers Morgan alongside Graeme Sunnis and you chatted about this that and the next. Graham apparently accused Bka Saka of being a cheat who dives all over the place. Uh this was on the show that you do with Pierce Piers's show in actual [laughter] fact. Football Football Uncensored. Listen, enough from me. What did Graeme actually say? Shall we tune in and have a listen? >> Your man Saka dives all over the place. >> I don't want to hear about >> You think Saka dives all over the place? >> Oh yeah. The minute he looks like losing possession, he's he's down. >> No. Anyway, really the modern game you're calling him a cheat not back to Arsenal moved on but he is he is he's simulates a foul. >> You're calling him a cheat. >> Well, anyone who simulates a foul yeah would be in my book um a chief. So Saka gets injured gets tackled. He screams as he's going down. The referee think there's nothing in that. But wait a minute he stayed down and then worse than that everyone in the immediate area all Arsenal players put their hand hands up and scream foul. The referee at that point panics and blows his whistle when it wasn't a foul. His first instinct was the right one. But he blows the foul because he's thinking, "Wait a minute, it's something I'm not understanding here." Now, was there something in the water or whatever you guys were drinking there? Because it seems that Graeme was determined to give it to Pierce about Bukaya Saka because myself and Graeme had reached our tolerance point of how many times Piers Morgan could turn the bleeding subject back to Arsenal on every level. So, we were debating about the fairness and the debate around whether Sunnes would hand his medals back in the same way that Roy Keane suggested he would if he's playing for Man City. I tried to debate Sunnes about the idea that fairness was part did he believe in fairness? And he said he did indeed he did. >> Um and I said, "Well, then you'd give your medals back." And then I said I desperately asked him not to reference Ronnie Moran and Joe Fagen because I've heard so many of those stories I want to shoot myself in the face if I hear another one. And then he started to talk about fairness on the field. And he brought began because Piers was making Arselentric and fairness to Graham. He brought up Sacka as a player that buys fouls, creates outcomes. I don't think it was specifically targeting Sacka. And then Pierers jumped up. His eyes went like, you know, pinball [laughter] machines. And before you can get a headline out of it, which is what you got, right? And you brought Saka into the reference. If you'd have asked Graham about other players from other clubs, he'd have said probably the same thing. There's a litany of players that cheat on the field that create these outcomes. And I think he's probably right. >> I mean, he he certainly didn't miss him. He he said the minute he looks like losing possession, he's down. >> Jack Greish, it's the same. We won't talk about Jack Greish. We just happen to reason a reason why we get dragged kicking and screaming into a space that neither of us want to be in at times is because Pierce won't leave Arsenal alone because it's the only thing he knows anything about. Yeah. >> When it comes to football, so he can talk with some degree of authority because his eyes don't betray him at times. >> Should you be talking as recklessly as you are regarding Piers Morgan because you have become a regular in his show. >> It's not his show. >> Oh, I see. But the point is this is that that's the reasons why it became about Sacka. If we' have been targeting Ian against Everton, he would have gone after Greish, I suspect. >> Yeah. >> And so that's the reasons why you've got his observations. But the question is, is he wrong? >> And I think like a lot of things with Graeme, he's not wrong. You might not like what he has to say. People might not like the idea that he called Declan Rice a center back and doesn't think that he's got enough football in him. But I'm telling you, Sunnis is very rarely wrong. People like to go, "Oh, he's a dinosaur." Not knows what he's talking about. You may not agree with him. You might not like his opinion, but on the whole he says very few things for effect and he says most things from an educated point of view that most people could only wish they'd have. >> Memory serves me right when he was speaking about Jack Gish. The suggestion was that Jack maybe stays on the ball too long. Doesn't let it go. >> He invites a foul hence he goes down. >> Correct. But there was also a point Yeah. I mean Graeme would think that point was saying doesn't release the ball enough but the moment the ball looks like it's going to be gotten away from him. Greish will buy a foul. They all buy fouls. Yeah. Now the the the conversation was about is that cheating? Is it cheating? So Graeme went all in and said yes it was and there you are and that's his that's his substantiation of it and I I make him right. >> In the very little time we have left. If you want to give us a quick call on this and I mean we have minutes to go. What's your take on Sunnis's take on Sacka? Your man Saka dives all over the place. Um the minute he looks like losing possession, he's down 03717234. Try it. Why not? The minutes we have left. uh make a cheeky call and you might welcome to air with us. The thing about Sunnis when he played >> Yeah. >> when he decided to dish it out, whoever was in the receiving end of that really did stay down. >> Sure. >> And it was more than your life's worth to suggest that to Graeme in any postmatch. But I like to suggest to him yesterday how how his backside went in a game against um Spurs in the charity shield where Gar Crooks tried to chin him and I see Graeme giving it oh I don't fancy any of that because it's stamped all over Glenn Hodddle and I saw a clip of the other day and I took great delight in reminding Graham how he had not looked too keen to get a punch in the face from Gar Crooks despite being the big man and also wanted to remind Graham of his awful acting appearance in Boys in the Black Stuff. [laughter] We are getting calls on this. I'm very keen to to see if we can get a couple to wear just before we go today >> on the black stuff. The thing about Sunnis, uh, Simon, I once wanted a meal with him in the west end of Glasgow after he played for Rangers against Soya Bucharest, and the challenge he put in against one of the Soya players was X-rated to say [laughter] the least, and the fella crumpled in a heap. And I said to Graeme, who had a mouthful of food. The interesting aspect of that challenge was when it happened, you actually had possession of the ball and soon as swallowed his food and looked at me and said, "You stick to what you know." So, I shut my face very quickly. John's an Arsenal fan. John, good afternoon. Thanks so much for coming through to us. Um, the minute he looks like losing possession, Bukaya Saka, he's down according to Sunnis. What do you make of his comments? >> Yeah, he's right. He is. [laughter] Everyone does it. Greish, Saka, Foden, that's nature of the game. But, you know, we can't take everything that Pierce says. We have to, you know, pinch salt and all that. He is very Arsenalentric. So he will be one-sided in all arguments, but any crew Arsenal fan and most people in the sport will know that that is the nature of the game. >> Well, John Graham Sunnis goes on to say anyone who simulates a foul in my book would be a cheat. So is Saka a cheat? >> Uh well, yeah, you can call it what you like. It's nature of the game. That's everyone does it. That's that's the way it's moved on from when he was there. But people back when he was playing would be doing the same. But it is what it is. That is football. >> That is football. There you go, John. Thank you very much. >> You didn't expect that call, did you? You didn't expect an Arsenal fan to come pragmatic, objective view, and call it properly rather than be blinded by tribalism. That done you up, didn't it? >> I did really. You know, the two shows, this one and the show that you go on with Piers Morgan, what one do you prefer more? >> I keep referencing this show and he gets most upset. He said it yesterday on the show. He said, "This is our show. I don't care what show you do over there with Jim White. We're not here to plug talk sport, >> you know. So, can you pack it in? I love it. Pierce, don't give up the day job. Thank you so much. We're back tomorrow at 10. In the meantime, Tuesday lunchon and it's 1:00.
